- BIKERUMOR.COMCrankworx Whistler Polygons New eMTB, Microshift, and the Raxilla Bike/Moto Hitch RackDespite a significantly smaller expo area than years past, there were still several incoming, new, or recent products to check out at Crankworx Whistler. This article highlights the updated 2027 Polygon Colossus TEO eMTB, Microshifts Advent MX drivetrain, and the dual-sport friendly Velocirax Raxilla hitch racks.Polygon has updated their Colossus TEO eMTB with Boschs latest display unit and a rear wheel flip-chip. Microshift was on hand showing their current Advent MX 11-speed drivetrain components, and the versatile Velocirax Raxilla boasts the ability to carry road bikes, MTBs, e-motos and dirt bikes.Polygon Colossus TEO eMTBPolygon Bikes had a prototype 2nd generation model of their Colossus TEO eMTB sitting in their booth at Crankworx Whistler. The Colossus TEO features a Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor and an 800Wh battery. While many eMTBs forgo this feature, Polygon made this bikes battery easily removable for convenient off-bike charging. There are two key updates to the new model: First, it now gets Boschs Kiox 400c display unit, which offers on-board navigation (a feature that would be awesome for e-enduro racing). The incoming model also adds a flip-chip for MX/29 rear wheel compatibility. The 2nd generation Colossus TEO is considered a 2027 model, so it wont be available until late 2026, if not sometime next year. Please note the bike shown here was assembled for display and does not have a production build spec.Polygon was also catching eyes with this Canada-themed Collosus DH9 downhill bike (feature image above). This custom-painted steed was on hand to highlight Polygons recent expansion into the Canadian market. Polygon bikes can now be purchased in Canada online or through dealers.Microshift Advent MX 111 drivetrain:Microshift launched their Advent MX 111 drivetrain in February, and had most of the new pieces to show at Crankworx. There are three different cassettes, one shifter, and two derailleur models within the lineup. The 11-speed drivetrains may appeal to eMTB riders particularly, as they offer better durability and less precise setup than 12-speed drivetrains. Also, assisted riders can more likely live without the finer gear increments offered by 12-speed cassettes. The black cassette pictured above is the more basic Advent MX H-series 11-speed Speedramp model, made entirely from steel. This model does not use a spider, and ranges from 11-50t. It is compatible with HG hub bodies. The silver and black unit is the lighter-weight Advent MX G-Series 11-speed Speedramp cassette, which uses aluminum for the biggest two rings and chromoly for the 11-28t cogs. The cogs are also 1.8mm thick, offering 5x the durability of standard hi-tensile steel cogs. This model also features a spider for the smaller rings, helping to keep weight down. This cassette has the same 11-50t range as the steel version, and HG or XD fitments are available.Microshift also offers a nearly identical Advent MX E-Series cassette, which only fits HG hub bodies. The main improvement to the Advent MX shifter vs. Microshifts Advent X model is far more responsive shifting. With all-new internals, the MX shifter engages at just 3, compared to the older models 12 engagement. Another nice feature is the clamps adjustability: It can be moved in or out by 12mm to ensure cockpit compatibility and ergonomic positioning. The Advent MX Pro derailleur seen above offers a beefed-up option versus Microshifts Advent X drivetrain components. It has a 33% stronger clutch than the Advent X derailleur, and IGUS bushings in the parallelogram. The pulley wheels roll on sealed bearings, and the cage is replaceable should you give it a smash. The Advent MX Pro derailleur weighs 358 g.Microshift also makes an Advent MX derailleur which does not feature a replaceable cage or sealed bearing pulleys, but shares the stronger clutch with the Pro model.Velocirax RaxillaIf you ride bicycles and dirt bikes, trials bikes or e-motos, the Raxilla is one hitch rack that can carry all your toys! With wheel holders that can fit anything from a road bike to a dirt bike, and one or two tray models available, the Raxilla could be the best option for multi-sport riders. Bikerumor covered the Raxillas main features when Velocirax teased it on social media, but we didnt have all the info on it yet. Now we do!Starting with weight capacity, the single-tray Raxilla can carry up to 275 lbs (with straps) or 90 lbs without straps. The two-tray Raxilla 2 can hold up to 250 lbs on Tray 1 and 130 lbs on Tray 2 (with straps) or 90 lbs per tray without straps. The racks themselves weigh 73 lbs (single tray) or 126 lbs (two trays). The Raxillas only come with 2 hitches, but Velocirax has various adapters if you have a heavy-duty vehicle with a larger receiver. Check Velociraxs website for full details, but your vehicle must have a Class 3 hitch with a tongue capacity of 500 lbs for these racks. The Raxilla is compatible with any bike wheel 24 to 29 in diameter, and with tires up to 5 wide. For dirt bikes, it fits front wheels from 16-21 diameters, and tire widths up to 180 mm. The rack comes with two adapters which accommodate smaller wheels. The only limitation for bikes would be full fenders, which wont work with the Raxillas wheel holders, or those newfangled 32 wheels. The MTB displayed on the rack did have a short fender zip-tied to the fork. The Raxillas MSRP is $1199, and the Raxilla 2 sells for $1999. Both models are now available in the USA and will be coming to Canada later this year.0 التعليقات 0 المشاركات 90 مشاهدة
- BIKESNOBNYC.COMVideo Killed The Blogosphere StarAs a former semi-professional bike blogger-turned gentleman bike blogger, I bullshit on a daily basis:Yet even I, a veritable font of bullshit, cant fathom how you could possibly do this on a daily basis on video. Yet YouTube is filled with cycling-themed content creators who seem able to do just that. So every so often I check in to see what theyre up to, but I never actually watch anything, because the video titles almost always answer themselves:Whats cycling like for someone who doesnt cycle? It sucks and its stupid.I mean sure, you can get used to it, just like a fetishist can get used to increasingly large butt plugs, but that doesnt mean everybody needs to try it.Heres another one I didnt have to watch:Whats the big mystery? Bike crashes happen because you suckor, to be charitable, maybe you dont suck but you were riding too close to someone else who does suck. But arguably even then if you didnt suck you wouldnt be near other riders who suck in the first place. (To wit: every Cat 4 bike race.) So basically you suck, and theres no way around it.And heres a subject that really doesnt warrant a video:Yes.The answer is yes.Meanwhile, I couldnt even read the title of this one without falling asleep:What happened?!? Nothing. Because theres no meaningful difference. This could just as easily have been called I wanked in an armchair instead of on my sofaheres what happened. But mostly cycling YouTube is just videos about bikes from China:I mean yes, theyre all from China now, but Im referring to the bikes that are actually marketed directly by Chinese companies, like the aforementioned Quick Pro:I could never have a YouTube channel, and not just because Im incredibly boring and nobody wants to look at me or listen to me. Its also because Id have absolutely no insight into the latest bikes from Quick Pro, except to point out to the potential buyer that youre not quick, nor are you a pro. Youre slow and you suck. So go ahead and buy one if you want, but it will do nothing to change either one of these fundamental truths.Hey, what can I say? Im finished trying to encourage people. If anything we need to bring back the gatekeeping. I dont want people to join anymore, theyre ruining bikes! (Relax, Im only 75% serious here.) There may have been a time I subscribed to the More people on bikes is always a good thing philosophy, but then it actually happened, and what do we have to show for it? I mean really, whats improved since I started this blog in 2007? Heres a list:Nothing.Nothing!?!Yeah, nothing.Oh, come on, surely some things have gotten better since 2007, right? What about wide tires?Nah, we had those. What about gravel bikes?Nah, we had those. What about bike lanes?Nah, theyre just full of electric vehicles now.See the Byrnian ideal of the gentleman bicyclist that Transportation Alternatives and the Smug-telligentsia were pushing back when this blog started never really materialized:And instead we got this:And getting stuck behind a slow-moving electric cargo bike is actually a best-case scenario these days:The campaign returns as concerns continue about dangerous riding behavior, particularly involving illegal e-bikes and high-speed e-bikes operating on city streets and sidewalks, reads a news release from Bottchers office. In the past month, there have been several high-profile bike and scooter accidents and injuries on the Upper West Side and in New York City, including two in Central Park, where one woman out jogging wasleft in a coma, and another where a 17-year-old boy e-bike rider died after ramming into a car near City Hall.Of course it might all be worth it if all this stuff was replacing cars like advocates always said it would, but in fact the opposite has happened:Basically we presented people with a choice between large motor vehicles and micromobility, and they chose accordingly:Meanwhile, the human-powered bicycle remained the domain of the butt plug enthusiasts, only now you need to charge them in order to work the shifters.Speaking of whichWhat about 1X drivetrains?Nah, its a step backwards. What about 1X drivetrains that require batteries?Nah, thats two steps backwards.Go ahead, keep asking questions, I can do this all day.Speaking of butt plugs, I do see theyre still managing to squeeze in more cogs:It is of course very important that Shimano do this, because obviously theyre lagging behind:[Do we need to say lags behind? Is there another way to lag? Can you lag ahead?]Good point. Tadej Pogaar uses 12-speed Dura-Ace. So this would explain his dismal performance this season. As far as Im concerned, the only noteworthy cog number change was whenever bikes went from one to two speeds, which was a whopping 100% increase. After that, every additional cog is proportionately less interesting, and you cant argue with math. So I dont know why the bike media makes a big deal about going from 12 speed to 13 speed when they could be fawning over the 100% increase you get when you go double on a Roaduno instead:Someone should make a video on that.0 التعليقات 0 المشاركات 121 مشاهدة

- BIKERUMOR.COMNot the Same as it Ever Was, David Byrne Shares His Biking PlaylistIm not here Speaking in Tongues or trying to Burn Down the House, but I am here to share the fact that Talking Heads co-founder David Byrne has taken his music on the road by bike. Mr. Byrne just dropped a new episode of his David Byrne Radio series called Biking Playlist. Its a pretty eclectic collection of songs he listens to while riding his bike between tour stops, while on his Who Is the Sky? Tour. Believe it or not, his whole band travels with folding bicycles. So, according to Byrne, when a free afternoon opens up, he heads out for a ride. If I have an afternoon off, Ill often go for a ride to clear my head, he shares in the playlist notes. As if you Needed Another Reason to love David Byrne. As you can see, the playlist itself covers a wide range of artists, including Mitski, Olivia Rodrigo, Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent, Harry Styles, James Blake, WILLOW, Paul McCartney, Dry Cleaning, and more. Byrne used the release as an opportunity to share his thoughts on how he thinks about pop music. He is essentially arguing that the line between mainstream and unconventional is blurrier than people tend to assume, and that those definitions shift over time. I totally agree. I am a sucker for a good pop song. Cycling isnt a New Hobby for ByrneCycling is an integral part of Mr. Byrnes life. Hes been cycling around New York City as his main mode of transportation since the beginning of the 1980s. He also published a book called Bicycle Diaries back in 2009. Its about rides through a bunch of cities worldwide. And, back in 2008 and 2012, he designed a series of bike racks that were installed all around NYC. Thats pretty cool. For those who are interested, Who Is the Sky? Tour is almost over. It kicked off in September 2025 and wraps up on September 19th, 2026. The last show will be at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens. However, the remaining dates span Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and several North American cities. Get your tickets HERE. - WWW.BIKERADAR.COMThe forgotten history of the women's Tour de France and why it vanished for decadesThe first question those unfamiliar with cycling are likely to ask a professional bike racer is: Do you race the Tour de France? The three-week Grand Tour is a household name across the world that transcends the otherwise relatively niche sport of professional cycling. However, it is only since 2022 that riders in the current womens peloton have been able to answer in the affirmative. That year, the first edition of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift took place over eight stages with a Grand Dpart that ran in tandem with the final stage of the mens race on the Champs-lyses. It ended with a mountaintop finish on the Super Planche des Belles Filles in the Vosges mountains, and was dominated by now-retired Dutchwoman Annemiek van Vleuten a rider who defined an era of the womens side of the sport. While the 2022 event was hailed as the first Tour de France for women, there have, in fact, been several versions of a womens Tour in the past. As far back as 1955, journalist Jean Leulliot organised a womens Tour de France consisting of five stages, won by Irish-born Manx cyclist Millie Robinson. That race turned out to be a one-off, however, and it would be almost 30 years before the next one came about, in 1984. Marianne Martin, stood alongside men's champion Laurent Fignon, won the 1984 Tour de France Fminin. Getty Images Launched in the same year as the first Olympic road race for women, the 1984 Tour de France Fminin was introduced by the Socit du Tour de France (which later became part of Amaury Sport Organisation, or A.S.O the current owners of the race in 1992). That first edition took place over 18 stages in tandem with the mens event, using shortened versions of the mens stages. The first woman to take home a yellow jersey was American Marianne Martin who also claimed the polka-dot climbers jersey as well as winning two stages. Martin finished 3min 17sec ahead of Heleen Hage of the Netherlands and received a prize of $1,000.Between 1984 and 1989, the Tour Fminin dropped from 18 stages, with a total distance of 1,059km to 786km over 11 stages and a prologue. With limited media coverage and, therefore, little public interest in the race, the new race director of A.S.O, Jean-Marie Leblanc, put a stop to the event after the 1989 edition, citing its lack of financial viability. The timeline of the women's Tour de France 1955 Tour de France Fminin A total of 41 riders took part in the five-stage race in Normandy 1984-1989 Tour de France Fminin American Marianne Martin lifted the 1984 trophy 1992-2003 Tour of the EEC Women The race underwent several organiser and name changes 2005-2009 Grande Boucle Fminine Swiss rider Priska Doppmann took the win in 2005 2014-2021 La Course Marianne Vos won in 2014 and 2019 a joint record with Annemiek van Vleuten 2022-present Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift 2026 marks the fifth edition of the Tour de France Femmes Changing hands The first edition of the Tour de France Fminin took place in 1955, with Ireland's Millie Robinson (pictured) winning the five-stage race, but it didn't return for 29 years. Getty Images By 1992, new organisers had stepped in and began to run the Tour Fminin under a new name (after legal threats surrounding use of the Tour de France brand) with an August calendar slot. The races title evolved from Tour of the EEC Women to Tour Cycliste Fminin for five years, before becoming La Grande Boucle Fminine Internationale by 1998.The organisers tried to give the event a fittingly challenging parcours, with the 1995 race even featuring a stage finish atop Alpe dHuez. But money once again proved to be an issue. The riders faced long transfers as the organisers struggled to find towns willing to pay to host stages. Then, in 2003, Monoprix, one of the main sponsors of the race, withdrew over controversy concerning unpaid prize money, which enforced a hiatus before another organiser took over in 2005. They, however, faced the same struggles as their predecessors and, by the final edition of the race in 2009 won by Brit Emma Pooley it was only four stages long.Campaign for La Course Pioneering pro Marianne Vos won the inaugural 'La Course by Le Tour de France' in 2014. Getty Images Four years later, in 2013, a group of athletes and campaigners calling themselves Le Tour Entier (The Whole Tour) and consisting of former pro Kathryn Bertine, Pooley, Olympic champion Marianne Vos and triathlete Chrissie Wellington, spearheaded a petition for A.S.O to bring back a womens Tour de France. More than 93,000 people signed it.A.S.O responded by introducing La Course, a one-day race to be run alongside the final stage of the mens race in 2014. That year, the womens peloton appeared at the Tour de France for the first time since 1989 to race a criterium around the Champs-lyses.The inaugural La Course was heralded as a turning point for womens cycling and there was hope that more stages would be introduced in the future. However, after that first edition (won fittingly by Vos), the race largely remained a one-day affair, staying on the Champs-lyses for the first three editions before the organisers experimented with a two-day event in the mountains in 2017, then reverting to a short, one-day race held alongside one of the mens stages.Calls for a full womens race continued, with the introduction of the Womens WorldTour in 2016 proving the appeal and calibre of womens racing, and the groups Donnons des Elles au Vlo and Internation Elles riding the mens Tour de France route one day ahead of the peloton to highlight that women were capable of doing so.Read more on the 2026 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift Tour de France Femmes bikes 2026: whos riding what? 8 key questions answered, from race favourites to must-watch stages How much does a Tour de France Femmes bike cost? Lizzie Deignan (right) pipped Marianne Vos (left) to victory in the 2020 edition of La Course, at that point still a one-day race. Getty Images In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the race calendar and many professionals turned their attention to indoor racing. The virtual platform Zwift responded by hosting a Virtual Tour de France a five-stage race in place of the real-life event. We did it like we do all races in Zwift, which is equal prize purse, equal broadcast and equal distance, said Kate Veronneau, director of content and womens strategy at Zwift. I think it was the proof of concept A.S.O needed. With Zwift yielding the power and money and A.S.O holding the key to hundreds of years of tradition, the meeting of old and new proved to be the perfect storm to restart the conversation around a womens Tour de France.Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift what a curious partnership, Veronneau mused on the eve of the race. We have this historic institution upholding the longest-standing traditions of cycling, and the longest race, and then you have Zwift who introduced a virtual platform and dont play by anybodys rules. For a few days that summer, the womens peloton had a Tour de France that was equal to the mens race. The virtual race sparked renewed enthusiasm for a womens Tour de France, and when it returned later in the year as a one-day race, the consensus was the peloton deserved more. After rumours throughout the off season, Tour de France race director Christian Prudhomme confirmed in May 2021 that a womens Tour de France would take place the following year. The right time The Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift arrived in 2022 and, for the 2026 edition, runs over nine stages. Getty Images In the years between the final 2009 edition of the Grand Boucle Fminine and the 2022 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, womens cycling grew beyond recognition. Thanks in part to UCI stipulations, Womens WorldTour riders began to be paid a living wage, more races and all WorldTour events were broadcast live, and the depth within the peloton was increasing with every season. The time was right for a new era of a womens Tour. Its an exciting time right now to watch womens racing, said Veronneau. Its showing that this is years in the making, with support, investment and the visibility that the teams are able to build that depth, and that women are able to have the opportunity to develop as pro cyclists. The 2022 race featured eight stages 10 fewer than that first 1984 edition but the overall distance was only 25km shorter. The longer stages were yet another sign of the progress within womens racing. Indeed, stage 5 was 175km, making it the longest race day on the womens calendar by 10km, exceeding the UCI limit, meaning the organisers had to arrange special dispensation. The race also offered a 250,000 prize fund, including 50,000 for the winner 50 times what Martin received in 1984.Since that first edition, the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift has become firmly established on the calendar, evoking all the reverence and fanfare that comes with the Tour de France brand. The riders have done justice to the parcours, delivering thrilling battles in some of the sports most iconic arenas, such as the Col du Tourmalet and Alpe dHuez, equal to any seen in the mens race. It has boosted the profiles of its former champions, and has already delivered a French yellow jersey winner in the form of Olympic mountain biking champion Pauline Ferrand-Prvot. The race ventured into the Pyrenees in 2023, with eventual champion Demi Vollering triumphing atop the Col du Tourmalet. Getty Images Last year, the organisers added a ninth stage as part of a concerted effort to grow the race in a sustainable way. While its still short of the 21 stages of the mens event or the 18 of the 1984 womens race, Veronneau argued that this was never the end goal. Id like to see the race build to a length that the Womens WorldTour is really excited about, that the teams are really excited about and that they can support, she said. But Im never going to say thats got to be three weeks. This years race also has nine stages and saw the peloton set off from Lausanne in Switzerland for its second foreign Grand Dpart. The parcours incorporates a 2km individual TT into Dijon on stage 4 the first since 2024s 6.3km stage 3 in Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, and the longest since the final stage of the 2023 race in Pau.In keeping with previous editions, riders also tick off yet another legendary summit, in the form of Mont Ventoux, as part of a parcours thats been dubbed mischievous by race director Marion Rousse. Mont Ventoux will take centre stage on Friday. Getty Images "There are pitfalls on practically every stage, she said during the launch of the 2026 route. There isnt a completely flat stage. Almost every day, theres a climb. Its a Tour de France Femmes that will be very difficult to keep up with mentally. You will have to be strong, because in the final, there is often a series of difficulties. The race concludes with a double-header weekend in Nice which, according to Rousse, is a great place to have fun with an unpredictable, hilly course. Its a bit like fireworks, she said, and thats what we wanted to reproduce in our Tour de France Femmes. The last stage around Nice, with four ascents of the Col dze, wont have a single metre of flat terrain the last variation, via the Col du Vinaigrier, is actually a slope of the Col dEze, with gradients of over 16%. Its going to be spectacular.Standing the test of time Pauline Ferrand-Prvot provided a home win for French fans in 2025. Getty Images After the false starts of previous womens editions of the Tour de France, A.S.O is determined that this version of the race will continue to be a success. Prudhomme told The Guardian in 2021: What we want to do is create a race that will stay the course, that will be set up and stand the test of time. What that means is that the race cannot lose money.Rousse nods towards the previous editions while acknowledging the modern races need to stay the course. Some will remember the epic duels of the 1980s Those valiant pioneers raced in what was a kind of curtain-raiser to the mens race, she wrote in the guide to the first edition of the race. This new race will thrive on its own and will maintain the intense focus that the Tour always receives through the course of another week of intense battle. The live-coverage statistics from the first four editions of the race show there is a huge appetite for womens racing, especially at the Tour. Last year, the broadcaster France Tlvisions reported that 25.7 million viewers tuned in to watch French national hero Ferrand-Prevot take victory in the final stage. Its a simple, essential message: just follow the racing, Veronneau said. I joke I have the easiest job in the world, in getting people excited about womens racing, because you watch one race and youre hooked. The personalities, the action Its just truly vibrant. It just needs the eyes on it and the broadcast opportunities, and then everything else is going to continue to fall into place. - WWW.CYCLINGWEEKLY.COM'I wanted to show that I belonged here' Oscar Onley wins debut race for Netcompany-Ineos at Vuelta a BurgosOscar Onley sprinted to victory from a small group on stage two of the Vuelta a Burgos on Wednesday, taking his first win for Netcompany-Ineos in the process. The 23-year-old sprung from number of favourites atop the Valle de Sol climb, with Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek) finishing in second, ahead of Enric Mas (Movistar). It means Onley is now in the leader's jersey, with three stages to come of the ProTour race, just ahead of fellow Briton Bjorn Koerdt (Picnic PostNL).Onley, who joined Ineos at the beginning of the year, has had a disrupted season due to illness and injury. A crash at the Tour Auvergne-Rhne-Alpes in June led to his absence from the Tour de France, where he finished fourth overall in 2025. He finished second on a stage of the Volta ao Algarve in February, but has had to wait until now to step on to the top step of the podium. It is just his third career victory."I'm really happy," Onley said post-stage. :This hasn't been a good season for me so far; I've had a lot of setbacks and just not really got going, so I really wanted to come here, and the goal wasn't even to win, it was just to get some racing in the legs, to be honest.""It was nice to be able to pay back the team, because they've fully supported me this whole year. Obviously being a new rider in the team, I wanted to show that I belonged here so it's quite a big relief."I guess today I showed that I have good legs, so we'll look at where I am on GC I lost a bit of time yesterday but so did a lot of other GC guys there's still a lot of racing to come."The Scot's success is the second British triumph in two days at the Vuelta a Espaa warmup race, after Matthew Brennan (Visma-Lease a Bike) won on stage one in Burgos, victorious from a reduced bunch sprint. "Happy, but also quite relieved. I think there's been a lot of hard work, and especially today, the team really showed they believed in me so that was really good to see and I'm really happy it paid off," Brennan said on Tuesday.Check out a brilliant finish from @OscarOnley to claim stage two victory at #VueltaBurgos @VueltaBurgos pic.twitter.com/BaJbpWb8bdAugust 5, 20260 التعليقات 0 المشاركات 95 مشاهدة
