    Playing Chicken
If Im noted for anything, its my award-winning* avian photography:*[My avian photography has never won an award.]To capture the image of a bird of prey in mid-flight with a fish in its talons is arguably one of photographys greatest challenges. Somewhat less difficult is getting a decent shot of some chickens, as I did this morning while passing through Yonkers:While there are people who do keep chickens in this area (I can hear the cock-a-doodle-doo-ing when I ride past their houses), this was the first time Ive seen them simply running free, and I can only assume this means Yonkers is now on the cusp of being overrun by feral poultry. According to certain factions, migrants now are eating up all the animals, and yet these delicious unprocessed Chick-fil-A sandwiches clearly feel at ease and are able to scratch around in the dirt alongside the bike path completely unmolested. Alas, I no longer know what to believe. Yes, ours is a culture of extremes, which comes into sharp relief around election time. I too am a man of extremes. For example, one day Im riding a Roaduno, and the next Im on a vintage Y-Foil, which is essentially the Anti-duno:Its still wearing its Vermont gravel mustache:And yes, this past week I did in fact have a call with one of the engineers who designed the Y-Foil, and I now no more about this bicycle than perhaps any other layperson in the world. As for the Roaduno and its pending dingle-ization, I suspect the problem is a worn freewheel not cooperating with a new chain, and will install a new one imminently. I am extremely grateful for all your help and suggestions over the past few days, even if most of them were probably wrong.May your weekend run as smoothly as a well-tuned drivetrain.

Titici Relli Pro Carbon Gravel Bike Gets Lighter With Engineered Flex, 1x or 2x & UDH
A new lighter Titici Relli Pro carbon gravel bike further refines the Italian framebuilders unique engineered flex, while adding more versatile compatibility with all of the latest gravel racing drivetrain options. With the advent of SRAM developing direct-mount gravel race Transmission setups in addition to the mullet MTB adventure gravel drivetrains, Titici decided to add more than a UDH to their carbon gravel race bikeTitici Relli Pro upgrades Italian carbon gravel race bike(Photos/Titici)It started with a project to update the Relli for UDH compatibility, together in collaboration with feedback from Titicis Sartoria Ciclistica gravel team. And in the end, it just gave Titici a good excuse to revisit the carbon gravel race bike theyd introduced only two years ago. Their core concept of the engineered flex remains, both in the iconic Titici patented Plate Absorber Tech (PAT) ultra-thin toptube and the vibration-damping Arch Absorber Tech (AAT) curved seattube. Whats new?At the same time as redesigning the dropouts to fit a Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH), Titici also completely reshaped the rear end of the Relli Pro. The new design drops the seatstays a bit further down the seattube for more rider comfort flex. And they were able to eliminate any seatstay bridge, incrementally shedding weight off the frame without compromising rigidity and stiffness. The new gravel bike also now drops its chainstays directly from the bottom bracket, transitioning back to the dropout in a straighter line. Together with carbon revisions in the AAT arch at the bottom of the seattube, this new Relli Pro is now able to be run with a double crankset. Titici engineers reworked the lower seattubes construction so a removable hanger can be bolted to the back of the arch to mount a front derailleur for gravel racers who prefer the tight gear ratios of a 2x drivetrain.A subtle bump up in tire clearance, too.The Relli had originally maxed out at 42mm tires since most racers were running 40s. But now that more light and fast tires are creeping up even bigger, the new Titici Relli Pro can officially fit a max 45mm gravel tire, with room to spare.Tech detailsmulti-blend carbon frame & fork (3K, 6K, T700, M30 & UD) made in Italy1100g claimed frame weight (size M, painted with hardware)tapered 1.5 full carbon steerer Titici Gravel DCR fork5 stock sizes (XS-XL), plus custom geometry availablefully hidden integrated internal cable routingmechanical, semi-wireless & full wireless routing available1x up to 50T chainring or compact 2x drivetrain compatible with optional bolt-on front derailleur mountUDH and direct mount T-Type transmission compatible1.5 headsetPressFit BB386 bottom bracketround 27.2mm seatpost, with custom Carbon-Ti post clampflat mount disc brakes12mm x 100 & 142mm thru-axles700c x 45mm max tire clearance (or 650b x 50mm)Titici Relli Pro Pricing, options & availabilityThe new Titici Relli Pro gravel race bike is available now, in three mostly Latte white paint jobs featuring Ametist purple transition fade details. Titici gravel race setups start off at 6990, either with a lightweight Campagnolo Ekar 13-speed or a wireless electronic SRAM Rival XPLR AXS 12-speed groupset. A Force XPLR AXS build adds a thousand euros to 7990. And either 1x Force or Rival AXS can get upgraded to a virtual 2x setup with a Classified Powershift system built into the rear wheel for an extra 2000.And lastly, a SRAM Red XPLR AXS13-speed build tops out the Titici Relli Pro gravel race bike build options at 10,490.Titici.comThe post Titici Relli Pro Carbon Gravel Bike Gets Lighter With Engineered Flex, 1x or 2x & UDH appeared first on Bikerumor.

Flashback Friday: The first unified, multi-sport European Championships in 2018
CyclistFlashback Friday: The first unified, multi-sport European Championships in 2018The 2018 European Championships were the first of their kind. A plethora of sports held their championships at the same time to draw increased attention and audiences, with cycling joining athletics, swimming, gymnastics, rowing and more sporting disciplines in events mainly held across Glasgow and Berlin.Cycling itself was split between two countries. The junior and U23 events actually took place in the Czech Republic but the elite events were held in Scotland. This was the inaugural European Cycling Championships too, bringing together the disciplines of road, track, mountain biking and BMX.RoadCycling Photo LIVIn Brno, Czech Republic, a rider every cycling fan is now familiar with was taking his first steps to make a name for himself after switching from football to cycling. A young Remco Evenepoel won the junior road race for Belgium by over nine minutes after an almost 100km solo breakaway. Even more impressively, it came just two days after he won time-trial gold, beating fellow countryman Ilan van Wilder by 24 seconds. In the senior mens road race in Glasgow, a five-man group formed in the breakaway after a crash in the final kilometres: Matteo Trentin and Davide Cimolai (Italy), Mathieu van der Poel (Netherlands), Wout van Aert (Belgium) and JessHerrada (Spain). Trentin managed to outsprint them all on the wet city circuit for his first win after fracturing his spine in a crash at Paris-Roubaix earlier in the season. In the womens race, Italys Marta Bastianelli beat Dutch defending champion Marianne Vos just as she had done a year prior at the World Championships in Germany. It was a day to remember for 19-year-old Sophie Wright of Great Britain too, having gone on a 40km solo attack after two heart operations.Ellen van Dijk, meanwhile, won her third of fourth consecutive time-trial golds for the Netherlands, narrowly edging out countrywoman Anna van der Breggen by just two seconds. It was a further double gold in the elimination race, Matthew Walls beating Portugals Rui Oliveria on the mens side, with Laura Kenny topped the standings ahead of Anna Knauer of Germany for the women. The four-woman team of Kenny, Elinor Barker, Katie Archibald and Neah Evans also rode to the team pursuit gold medal, winning by nine seconds over Italy.MTBArmin Kstenbrck/Swiss CyclingDouble gold awaited Switzerland in the cross-country events. Jolanda Neff dominated from the opening lap to claim her third European mountain bike title by two minutes ahead of Pauline Ferrand-Prevot. Fellow Swiss Lars Forster faced strong competition from Italys Luca Braidot on the mens side, but eventually dropped him to ride clear and win by 24 seconds.BMXJack Thomas/Getty ImagesGreat Britain also shone in BMX Racing. In the mens event, fellow Brits Kyle Evans and Kye Whyte battled one another for the gold medal with Evans coming out on top, Whyte happy with silver in his first year as an elite. Frenchman Sylvain Andrcompleted the podium. The Netherlands Laura Smulders edged out Denmarks Simone Christensen to defend her title in the womens race. The next unified European Championships were held in Munich in 2022, on a four-year cycle like the Olympics and Paralympics. Host nation Germany would top the medal table with 26 golds, with Great Britain and Northern Ireland just behind on 24.
