KS Wants You to Rage Harder with the Updated Rage-i 2.0 Dropper Post
The KS Rage-i is among the most affordable dropper posts on the market, often found as OEM spec on complete builds. At Eurobike, KS just unveiled the 2nd generation of its reasonably priced post, the Rage-i 2.0. Building on its predecessors legacy of affordability, the 2.0 gets a number of updates and refinements to enhance its fitment, adjustability, reliability, and serviceability.Lets take a look at whats new with the KS Rage-i 2.0.The Rage-i 2.0 is now available with up to 210mm of drop.AdjustabilityOne of the most significant 2.0 updates is adjustable return speed. The previous version had a sealed cartridge and fixed return speed; the Rage-i 2.0 has an adjustable air spring, so riders can fine-tune the posts rate of return to their exact preferences. A Schrader valve under the head makes it easy to speed up or slow down the posts return speed using a standard shock pump.Shorter Overall LengthsA redesigned head and actuator shorten the overall lengths of the Rage-i 2.0 posts by 13.3mmKS says that it has reworked the Rage-is proportions, shortening the overall length of the post by 13.3mm across all sizes. The redesigned clamp head is 10.3mm shorter than before, and the new actuator saves an additional 3mm at the bottom of the post. This means that the 2.0 provides more drop relative to its total length.A slightly shorter insertion length and stack height should make it possible for more riders to maximize drop length, particularly on smaller frames or those with shorter insertion depths.More DropThe original Rage-i topped out at 190mm of drop. With the Rage-i 2.0, KS has increased the maximum travel length to 210mm, which is better aligned with modern riders needs. The Rage-i 2.0 is available in a whopping 8 travel lengths: 75, 100, 125, 150, 170, 180, 190, and 210mm. It also comes in 30.9, 31.6, and 34.9mm diameters. The self-purging design eliminates sponginess without the need for tools or disassembly.Self-PurgingNobody likes a saggy or spongy dropper post, so KS updated the Rage-i 2.0 with self-purging internals. The brand states that by cycling the post through its travel several times by hand, the spongy feel caused by oil mixed with air can be eliminated, and the post returned to normal function. This simple process does not require tools, disassembly, or in-depth service procedures.Easier ServiceabilityThe threaded seal collar should be a game-changer for serviceability. The Rage-i had a one-piece chassis. The Rage-i 2.0 steps up to a two-piece chassis design with a threaded seal collar. This should make all service tasks significantly easier, particularly simple tasks like regular cleaning and lubrication.Rage harder with the new Rage-i 2.0 from KS.Pricing and AvailabilityThe new KS Rage-i 2.0 was just introduced at Eurobike and is listed on the brands website. We expect it to be available soon, if not immediately, through KS dealers worldwide. Interestingly, KS did not provide pricing information, nor is it shown on the product page on the website, but we think its fair to assume it will still be priced reasonably, like its predecessor.kssuspension.comThe post KS Wants You to Rage Harder with the Updated Rage-i 2.0 Dropper Post appeared first on Bikerumor.
