Crankbrothers Adds a Plug Tool to its KLIC HV Hand Pump: First Look
Along with wheels, pedals, and shoes, Crankbrothers makes some great tools. Well, just saying they make tools doesnt give a clear enough picture. Along with making handy multi-tools, they seem to be one of the brands leading the charge on practical tool and bike integration.Bottle mounts that carry tools, or designing multiple tools together so youre only carrying one. Pumps, CO2 inflators, plug kits, multi-tools, gauges Crankbrothers knows youre likely carrying it all, so design an ecosystem that covers it all.Crankbrothers KLIC HV mini MTB pump with Plug Tool(Photos/Cory Benson)Adding to that ecosystem is the new KLIC HV Plug Tool Pump. If youre familiar with Crankbrothers hand pumps, youll know the KLIC isnt new. Currently, the brand has two options of KLIC pumps HV or HP High Volume or High Pressure. HP pumps land on the road/gravel side of cycling, where HV pumps are for mountain bikes.(I suppose many gravel tires now lean more toward high volume, as well.)With the HV or HP choice, you also have the option of a pressure gauge or a CO2 inflator. Now, Crankbrothers is adding a third option, which is the plug tool, to its HV pumps. However, it does get a bit tricky here, as not every option is available in one unit, namely, the CO2 inflator. There will be two new KLIC HV Plug Tool Pumps, and the choice is with or without a pressure gauge. The pump will remain essentially the same as the other KLIC pumps in their lineup. It features a flexible hose with a magnetic head and a twisting collar, all stored inside the pumps body. This hose is compatible with both Presta and Schrader valves. Also incorporated into the pump are a fork, plugs, anchors, and a valve core tool. The handle of the pump folds and locks to make inflation a bit easier (Crankbros claims 110psi; I imagine that might have your arms burning), and the pump itself doubles as a handle for inserting plugs (now this I like).Crankbrothers KLIC HV pump Real weight, pricing & availabilityEach pump comes with a mounting bracket that adds a bit of weight to the system. Crankbrothers claims the pumps weigh 129g (without pressure gauge) and 156g (with pressure gauge). That is pretty close to the actual weight of the pump we received: 131g (without the pressure gauge). Using the mounting bracket adds 15g.Crankbrothers prices the pumps at $49.99 and $59.99, with the difference being the pressure gauge. We have one in for the long term, so keep your eyes peeled for a review.crankbrothers.comThe post Crankbrothers Adds a Plug Tool to its KLIC HV Hand Pump: First Look appeared first on Bikerumor.
