Litespeed Launches Four New Titanium eBikes for Road and Gravel
Today things get a bit electrified and amplified as Litespeed debuts four new bicycles you may never have expected. Meet Litespeeds new lineup of titanium road and gravel E-bikes: the Sustain and Harmonizer for the road, and the Overdrive and Distortion for gravel.(Photos / Litespeed)These new eBikes are still hand-built in the same Tennessee factory that has produced other Litespeed frames. And theyre designed to bring the high-performance and legendary ride of Litespeed titanium to a larger cycling audience.Look, you and I both know that Litespeed has spent pretty much its whole existence making light and refined titanium frames. Now the brand is putting that dedication into electric bikes, hoping that road and gravel riders who usually side-eye a motor might be ready to reconsider. The MotorThe new lineup uses the Mahle X20 System, a lightweight assist setup designed for performance bikes. Litespeed says it delivers 275 watts of peak power and assistance up to 20 mph from a 250 Wh battery, with Eco, Sport, and Boost modes. Its a Class 1 system, so the motor only helps while youre pedaling, and Litespeed claims the pedal feel stays natural. The motor sits in the rear hub, which is where HED enters the picture: each bike gets a HED hand-built road or gravel wheelset laced to the Mahle hub, with a choice of carbon or high-performance alloy rims. What About the Frame? The frames use new custom-formed Superform eSL6/4 and Pure eLW titanium tubesets. Litespeed says these tubes produce the lightest titanium E-bike frames possible. Buyers can pick from a wide range of high-end components, specs, and sizes, just like any other Litespeed.CEO Chris Pascarella admits he was a skeptic. I had bought into the stigma that riding an E-bike was a sign of surrender, he said. Hes since changed his tune, arguing the bikes let you keep up with a fitter partner, enjoy that dream Col, or commute to work without risk of hitting Zone 2.Motor & Battery SpecsMotor: MAHLE X20 rear hubPower: 250 WTorque: 65 NmBattery: 250 WhExtender: Optional eX1 availableClass: Class 1, assists up to 20 mphSystem: 3.2 kg (7.05 lbs), including batteryOK, lets check out the bikes!Sustain eRoad Racing BikeRetail: $12,599 The Sustain is built on Litespeeds racing pedigree. 'Fans are asking to see the whole race' cycling union calls for more live coverage of women's races
The Cyclists Alliance (TCA), an independent union that represents the womens peloton, has called for full live coverage of the biggest womens races on the calendar. The union published its ninth annual survey report today, listing broadcast visibility as one of its top priorities, alongside better race safety and financial security for lower-tier riders.According to TCAs survey of 127 riders, including 118 road riders from across the womens Continental, ProTour and WorldTour tiers, 49% want greater visibility for races. This number grows to 60% when responses are limited to WorldTour riders only.TCA singled out the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, Paris-Roubaix Femmes and the womens Tour of Flanders as pinnacle races that should have start-to-finish television coverage, and called on their organisers and host broadcasters to commit to full broadcasts. This spring, only the final third of Paris-Roubaix Femmes was broadcast live, a decision TCA described at the time as a massive affront to womens cycling. Three of the nine stages of Augusts Tour de France Femmes were granted full broadcasts. There have, however, been positive signs; Tour de France Femmes race director Marion Rousse told Cycling Weekly there would be a real discussion about full coverage in the future, while the Santos Tour Down Under, the calendars opening WorldTour stage event, has committed to full coverage of the womens race in 2027. Fans are asking to see the whole race, and the 2027 Santos Tour Down Under proves it can be done, said Lexi Brown, TCAs board director. Full start-to-finish coverage should no longer be the exception in womens cycling, particularly at the sports biggest tentpole events.A post shared by The Cyclists' Alliance (@thecyclistsalliance)A photo posted by TCAs ninth annual rider survey received responses from 42 Womens WorldTour riders, a number the union acknowledges is a small base. The largest group of respondents were third-tier Continental riders, 52 of whom filled out the survey. Their biggest concern was financial instability; 75% of Continental-level respondents said they receive no salary from their team and 79% are on one-year contracts. The UCI does not mandate a minimum salary for Continental riders. WorldTour respondents named race safety as their top priority. This includes concerns regarding road conditions and course design. Unfortunately in road cycling, danger will always be a part of the equation, said FDJ United-Suez rider Ally Wollaston, who is also part of TCA's rider council. Rider safety can never be guaranteed, but it can be prioritised. The reality is, neglecting road safety is not just gambling with the riders careers, its gambling with their lives. If we want longevity in the sport, road safety needs to be a non-negotiable priority at every race. The full 43-page 2026 Annual Rider Survey can be found on TCA's website.

Ornot Teams Up with Polartec on Alpha Wool Pullover for On & Off the Bike Action
The weather has been cooling down a lot lately. And that might explain why Ornot is using Polartec for their new Alpha Wool Pullover. The new pullover takes Polartec Alpha, the insulation thru-hikers have been quietly hoarding for years, and blends merino wool fibers right into the lofted construction. It comes in both mens and womens cuts, and its made in the USA.(Photos / Ornot)Some of you may remember, but wool is the original cycling kit material because it adds natural temperature regulation and moisture management. A lot of times, cycling is just a series of easy and hard efforts over an expanded period of time. I mean, one minute, youre grinding up a climb, cooking like a rotisserie chicken, then next thing you know, youre descending into wind that makes you question your life choices. Most cycling garments with insulation nail one of those jobs, rarely both. But Polartec Alpha combined with wool can handle both: itll dump heat fast when youre working, stay comfortable when youre not.It Started with Thru-HikersThe platform underneath, Alpha Direct, started with thru-hikers. Thru-hikers will cheerfully trim a toothbrush handle to save a gram. And Alpha Direct is magically lightweight. Then, in comes merino, and you get added natural temperature regulation, moisture management, and a softness level Ornot swears will keep you from ever taking it off. (They claim to know this from experience. Ill allow it.)Wool in a performance layer isnt new, but blending it into Alpha for riding is a fresh idea. Its aimed squarely at the clammy-at-the-caf-stop problem that plagues plenty of synthetic midlayers. Alpha Wool Pullover Retail & DetailRetail: $19854% Poly, 6% Nylon, 40% WoolAvailable in Mens and Womens silhouettesExcellent warmth-to-weight ratioAbrasion-resistant fabric in high-wear areasResists moisture and dries fastLoose, casual fitSewn by hand in the USAColors: Fog/OchreThe new Ornot Alpha Wool Pullover is another top-notch product for cold-weather riding or strolling downtown. And its made right here in the USA by people who clearly spend a lot of time on bikes in the unpredictable weather of the San Francisco Bay Area.
