- BIKERUMOR.COMBackcountry Acquires Velofix to Deliver Built Bikes to Your DrivewaySo heres some interesting news. Backcountry, the outdoor gear retail specialists, just scooped up Velofix. In case you dont know, Velofix is the mobile bike shop network thats been bringing mobile bike repair/bike delivery to your driveway since 2013. The Backcountry deal closed September 17.If youve never used Velofix, their MO is simple and honestly pretty cool. Instead of dropping your bike off at a shop and watching your bike wait in the back for some attention, you can have a certified tech roll up in a fully-loaded van to build, tune, or fix your bike. All right there in your driveway. Velofix has done this for over 215,000 riders across the US and Canada, with 96 techs covering roughly half of North Americas riders.(Photos / Velofix)Backcountry can sell you a bike online, but theyve never had a good answer for what happens between the time when the box shows up on your porch and you actually riding it. Until now. Velofix techs are the way Backcountry will fill that gap. Seriously, Velofix can do builds, tune-ups, drivetrain and suspension work, e-bike diagnostics, bike fits, even race-day prep and support for teams and events.Backcountrys president, Kevin Lenau, says, Backcountry has always been about connecting people to an expert they can rely on. Now that expert comes to the driveway. He continues, A rider in Boulder or Boston can order a bike from us and have a Velofix technician build it, tune it, and hand it over ready to ride. Nice. The first tangible perk lands for Summit Club+ members via exclusive offers. What about existing Velofix franchise owners? According to the recent article from BRAIN, currently about a third of Velofix vans are franchised. Backcountry doesnt seem to have any plans to change that, and hopes the acquisition pushes more business to those franchise owners. It sounds like there are still more details to work out, but were hoping that its a beneficial arrangement for all.Backcountry.comVeloFix.com0 Σχόλια 0 Μοιράστηκε 287 Views
- WWW.CYCLINGWEEKLY.COM'Pretty unexpected' - British junior time trial champion Aalia Clay clinches Worlds bronze by just 0.07 secondsAalia Clay won bronze in the junior womens time trial at the UCI Road World Championships in Montral on Tuesday, adding an international podium to a breakthrough season."It means a lot," Clay said. "It was pretty unexpected to me, and its pretty exciting."The British rider completed the 10.7km course in 15:42, 24 seconds down from Polands Maria Okruciska's race-winning time. Belgiums Yana Decruyenaere earned the silver medal, 12 seconds back. Clay beat Switzerlands Anja Grossmann to secure the final podium place by just seven hundredths of a second. This result follows her victory at the British junior time trial championships in July as well as successes on the road. (Image credit: Getty Images)In June, she became the first junior to win the womens Ronde van Wymeswold overall, before adding top-10 finishes at the junior editions of DruivenkoersOverijse and Grand Prix de Plouay. At 17, this is Clay's first season as a junior. It was also her first World Championship appearance. With those results and another season in the junior ranks ahead, Clay already has a target for her return to the World Championships."Hopefully to continue with this form next year and maybe world champion next year - that would be really cool," she told the media after the race. She added that she's uncertain about her chance in "hilly France," but she hopes she'll be selected for them again. "And definitely aim for a jersey."First, though, comes the junior womens road race in Montral. On Friday, Clay will line up alongside Scottish national road race champion Melanie Rowe, Zoe Roche, Peggy Knox, and Gabby McHugh, who is the only member of the British junior womens squad to arrive with previous road world championship experience. The race will take place at 2:15 PM local time / 7:15 PM BST.0 Σχόλια 0 Μοιράστηκε 331 Views

- BIKERUMOR.COMSpecialized Is Selling $20K Custom TT Extensions Developed Around Remco Evenepoels Race PositionRemco Evenepoel just added another time trial world title to his palmars. The TT world is combing over the fit and setup of his rocket ship, the Specialized Shiv. Now, Specialized is offering riders access to one of the more interesting pieces of equipment behind his TT setup.(All Photos/Specialized)$20K Custom S-Works TT ExtensionsThe new S-Works Custom TT Extensions follow the same rider-specific development process Specialized used with Evenepoel. They combine Body Geometry fit data, 3D printing, wind-tunnel work, some skateboard griptape, and on-road testing. They wont turn you into Remco. However, you can totally feel like Remco when youre in the sticks, just dont expect his power numbers. How Are They Made?Specializeds approach starts with position. Instead of creating a single extension shape and some movable hardware, the custom setup is designed around the riders fit. Reach, stack, hand position, forearm support, and extension angle can all influence how compact and stable a rider can remain over the course of a time trial.Evenepoels TT position has become one of the more recognizable in the peloton. His hands are high and close together, and his forearms are tightly supported. The position keeps his upper body narrow and gives him a repeatable shape he can comfortably hold at speed. The extensions help make that possible.A Small Piece of a Very Fast SetupEvenepoels World Championship TT bike was hardly stock. His setup included a highly developed aero position, oversized gearing, race-specific wheels, and plenty of equipment choices aimed at one thing: finishing as quickly as possible. The custom extensions are a piece of that overall puzzle. The quickest extension for Remco probably isnt the quickest extension for you. Different arm lengths, shoulder widths, flexibility, torso proportions, and riding positions all change what makes sense at the front of a TT bike. That is exactly why Specialized sells these as a custom product. Now You Can Order Your OwnEvenepoels latest rainbow jersey is a good reminder of how much detail now goes into a top-level time trial setup. And now Specialized will build you a set, too.Ready? You can purchase them here.0 Σχόλια 0 Μοιράστηκε 320 Views
