At first we were sceptical: Schwalbe to release 32in gravel tyres as bikes set to hit market
Schwalbe will release two 32in gravel tyres, the G-One RS Pro and G-One RX-Pro, in April 2027.The company says the decision to release the tyres is driven by the growing trend towards 32in gravel bikes. The topic of 32-inch wheels has been the subject of intense discussion for many months, fueled by early race successes on 32-inch wheels, Schwalbe says. You may like: Trek teases 32in XC race bike with unreleased RockShox SID Flight Attendant forkAdvantages to riders Schwalbe already had its 32in G-One RX Pro gravel tyre on display at Velofollies. Stan Portus / Our Media Schwalbe adds that Robin Gemperle won Unbound XL, one of the toughest gravel races in the world, using prototypes of the G-One RX Pro on his 32in Scott gravel bike. The tyres have already appeared on several 32in bikes, including the Singular Pterodactyl.Felix Schfermeier, head of product management at Schwalbe, says: "At first, we were sceptical about whether 32 inches would be a meaningful addition. But the more we tested, the clearer the conclusion became: riders on 32-inch wheels definitely notice a difference. At the Velofollies trade show in January, Schwalbe already said that it was fully convinced by the oversize wheelsize.Schwalbe said at the time that it had been testing 32in tyres in its lab, and Schfermeier now echoes the same advantagesthat the company outlined earlier this year.In terms of tyre setup, the new wheel size delivers more stable handling, better traction, and increased comfort, particularly in gravel riding," says Schfermeier. "This also opens up potential for other categories, without diminishing the relevance of other sizes.32in gravel bikes set to hit the marketSchwalbe says 32in gravel bikes are set to hit the market this autumn. We have seen bespoke framebuilders adopt the new wheel size with some already releasing 32in bikes.BikeRadar previously heard that we would see mainstream brands release 32in bikes next spring. While Scott revealed a 32in gravel bike for Unbound and Canyon recently made a one-off 32in gravel bike for LeBron James, no mainstream brand is yet to release a 32in wheel bike to the mass market. In addition to the gravel tyres, Schwalbe says it will release 32in inner tubes and 32in mountain bike tyres in April next year.

This early Amazon Prime Big Deal Days offer drops the Lego Icons Road Bike set to under 100 for the first time
LEGO launched its first-ever road bike set in May, with a spec sheet that included a functional drivetrain and more. The 1,015-piece build certainly didn't disappoint, and it looks like a shrunken version of one of the best aero bikes. What it lacks in real-life stature, it makes up for with detail, packed with technical, real-life, tinker-worthy features that we cyclists love.Amazon Prime Big Deal Days are back on October 6-7, with the usual flurry of cycling-related discounts and bargains. One early deal I spotted is on the Lego Icons Road Bike set, discounted to just 99.99.Get the Lego Icons Road Bike set for just 99.99 on Amazon. It's a fairly small reduction of just 10 off the usual 109.99, but having written numerous Lego deal posts for our sister sites, brand new Lego sets rarely get discounted, so this is a deal worth grabbing while it is. Especially for those looking to get their Christmas shopping done early. Icons Road Bike (11380): was 109.99 now 99.99Save 10. Making its debut in the LEGO Icons lineup, the Road Bike (11380) delivers a highly detailed 1,015-piece build designed for cycling enthusiasts. The set features a working drivetrain connected to a free-spinning rear wheel, functional steering, and deep-section rims. Customizable touches like a removable water bottle and a rear safety light complete this sleek, display-ready model.View Deal(Image credit: Anne Marije-Rook)The Lego Icons Road Bike (11380) measures over 14 in. (36 cm) high, 23.5 in. (60 cm) long, and 7.5 in. (19 cm) wide, and the final build includes a stand reminiscent of some of the best smart trainers. The final build makes a brilliant display piece and is a brilliant gift for the cyclist in your life, even if that's yourself. I'd love to get my hands on this, and with Christmas just round the corner, it makes a great Christmas gift too. It's also a fully functioning road bike Lego build with front-wheel steering and a fully working drivetrain. The drivetrain features a functional chain made of individual Lego 'links' that rotate when you turn the cranks, and, even more impressively, a fully working freewheel that lets the rear wheel spin independently for that satisfying real-world coasting effect. The inclusion of the water bottle and rear light is a great touch, instantly bringing to mind my favourite tail light, the Magicshine SEEMEE300. Of course, as clever as Lego's engineers are, you won't get an active brake sensor or a blinding 300-lumen output out of these plastic bricks.

The Latest from Litespeed is the Rumpus, a $1,000 Handmade Titanium Balance Bike
Tennessee-based Litespeed Bicycles has been hand-crafting titanium frames of all kinds for decades. The brand recently introduced a new model to its lineup, known as the Rumpus. Unlike most of its other bikes, however, the Rumpus does not have pedals: this is a titanium balance bike built for the smallest, well-heeled riders to learn to ride in style.Of course, this isnt the first high-end balance bike weve seen. Anyone remember the Specialized Hotwalk Carbon?Rumpus DetailsThe Rumpus is a balance bike, so there isnt really a lot to it, but heres what we know. The frame uses aerospace-grade titanium tubing and is welded by hand by Litespeeds experts in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The titanium frame is paired with a titanium handlebar and carbon fork, and the complete build reportedly weighs just 7 pounds (3.1 kg), making it light enough for a 2-year-old to lift.It comes with a custom anodized head badge and logos in natural gold, along with classy-looking tan grips and saddle. It also comes with a bespoke titanium stand, so you can show it off and, more importantly, keep it from lying on the ground all the time. Additionally, when purchasing, you can add a message of up to 18 characters to be anodized on the chainstay. Each Rumpus is made to order, and the lead time is 2-3 weeks. The bike arrives fully assembled, and the only adjustment needed is to the saddle height. Then your little shredder can stride off into the sunset.Litespeed made the Rumpus to last a lifetime, and they back it up with a lifetime warranty. So, even though your little one will outgrow it in no time, itll be ready when their kids learn to ride.Pricing and AvailabilityIf you read the headline, then you already know the Rumpus retails for $1,000 actually just $999.99. With a price like that, it certainly wont be for everyone, but we imagine there are some titanium aficionados out there who will be starting em young. The Rumpus is available now and, again, made to order with a 2-3 week lead time. Head to the Litespeed website to check it out or place your order.litespeed.com

Mason Definition Integrale road bike review: the aluminium endurance bike gets a speed boost
Mason may have been around for only 12 years or so, but in that time they have cemented a solid reputation for high-quality, no-nonsense bikes. Choosing steel, titanium and aluminium over carbon, the British brand is a firm favourite amongst adventurous riders, and whilst you might not see one of their bikes on a Grand Tour podium, they have had great success in endurance and gravel racing as well as in less competitive but more intrepid ventures. The aluminium Definition has been a stalwart of its line-up for a while, and this frame, the Definition 3, is, yep, the third iteration of it. Ultra-endurance racer Josh Ibbet used the original Definition to win the 2015 Transcontinental race, showing that metal bikes could still compete with more exotic materials, and it has improved since then.(Image credit: Andy Jones)The Integrale version ups the ante again with greater integration, a different fork and a lower stack height, offering a combination of the Definitions long-distance abilities and a bit more speed. Of course, as with all of Masons bikes, the exact spec and componentry sizing is up to you.Design detailsClassic-with-a-twist is how I would describe the Definition Integrales aesthetics. The round aluminium tubes in beautiful gloss white with full-height seat stays look timeless, but the stays both have kinks in them, and the carbon fork also has an unusual shape.A brushed brass head tube badge, which matches the colour of the writing on the forks, looks super classy.Classy brass headtube badge (Image credit: Tim Russon)The aluminium tubing, made by Dedacciai for Mason, eschews the cable ports of the standard model, opting for fully internal routing compatible only with electronic groupsets for a cleaner, more streamlined look. Whilst the welds are visible, they are clean and neat. The frame has retained the mudguard mounts of the original, though, with some very subtle mounts on the upgraded Mason x Deda AR tapered carbon fork. Mason says that tyre clearance is good for 35mm rubber, or 32mm if mudguards are fitted. There is still routing for a dynamo hub too; perfect for ultra-long, non-stop adventures.Eight sizes are available, from 48cm to 62cm, in Prism Green or Process White, and the SRAM Force test bike weighed 8.26kg without pedals.(Image credit: Tim Russon)SpecificationsStack and reach on the Integrale come in at a surprisingly racey 567.5mm and 392.5mm, some 12.2mm lower and 4.2mm longer than the standard Definition 3, and pretty much into race bike territory. However, the long wheelbase and 71.5-degree head tube angle are more akin to a gravel bike, hopefully combining to give the bike both speed and stability. Its hard to argue with the choice of SRAMs 2x Force groupset. Like Shimanos second-tier Ultegra Di2, it delivers nearly all the performance of the top groupset at a significant discount, and I haven't been happy with it on a bike. The ergonomics are superb, and the option to easily switch batteries if needed seems like a great idea for continent-crossing epics. Another thing I really like about the SRAM drivetrain is its Orbit damper system in the rear derailleur, which all but eliminates chain slap and makes for a lovely, quiet ride even on terrible road surfaces. Can't argue with the performance of SRAM's Force groupset (Image credit: Tim Russon)The review bike (specced by the previous tech editor of Cycling Weekly, not Mason) had a few expensive options that Im not sure really suited the bike. Dedas Alanera DCR one-piece handlebars are lovely, but they cost over 700 / $960, or half the value of the frame, and whilst I am all for spending money on good wheels, the Hunt 44_46 Aerodynamicist Carbon wheels also add a lot to the build cost. The 34mm Vittoria Corsa N.EXT tyres seemed like an appropriate choice for an endurance machine, though, and the Fizik Vento Argo Adaptive R1 is a great saddle, albeit an expensive one.Components like the Hunt wheels, Fizik saddle and Deda bars add to the Definition's price tag (Image credit: Tim Russon)The Definition Integrale uses a threaded bottom bracket and Universal Derailleur Hanger, which makes a lot of sense.PerformanceIt had been a long time since Id ridden an aluminium bike, but the reputation of the Mason brand and the Definition preceded it, so I thought I had an inkling of what it would be like. Mason bikes arent designed to be on the podium after four or five hours of racing; they are designed to be there after four or five days or even weeks of competition. I doubt very much that Pogacars Y1RS includes a dynamo portUnfortunately, my time with the bike was limited, so I couldn't head off across any continents and had to make do with shorter rides in the Peak District. My position on the bike felt pretty good I didnt feel like I was too upright, and I was sat a little bit forward over the bottom bracket, as I prefer to. I would have liked to remove a couple of spacers, but with the stem and top cap design, it wasnt straightforward. The Integrale's front end is lower than the standard model's (Image credit: Andy Jones)Out on my local hills and poorly surfaced roads on my own, there was much more chatter from the road surface than I was expecting, even with 34mm tyres fitted at the Silca-prescribed 55psi. The oversized seatstays transmitted lots of vibrations, which seemed at odds with the near-silent, slap-free ride provided by SRAMs Orbit system. It wasnt exactly unpleasant, but I had, perhaps unfairly, expected a serene, steel-like ride quality from the lovely-looking Dedacciai aluminium frame. Classic frame design, but both sets of stays and the fork feature small kinks in them (Image credit: Andy Jones)The bike also felt less stable than I expected, a trait which I think I tracked down to the tyre and wheel choice Hunts 44_46 Aerodynamicist wheels only have an internal width of 22mm, and are designed for 28-30mm tyres. The 34mm Vittorias ballooned out from the rims and created a bit of a scoop that caught the wind. Unfortunately, I didnt have any other wheels with a SRAM freehub to swap in.While 8.4kg (with pedals) isn't heavy for a bike, the weight is in the frame rather than the components, and at 1,780g, it is a fair chunk more than many carbon frames. This manifested itself when trying to press on out of the saddle; the bike didnt feel happy being chucked from side to side, and progress was far better made seated using the gears. The Mason was happier being ridden on the saddle rather than out of it (Image credit: Andy Jones)It was a similar story when trying to keep up with rapid pace changes on group rides; the bike was slow to kick down and accelerate, preferring to keep a steady speed aided by the lower ride position and long wheelbase. Of course, this isnt really what the Definition is designed for, and it is no surprise that it felt like hard work against thoroughbred race bikes.ValueIn the exact spec of the test bike, value isnt the first word that springs to mind. A few tasty options push the bikes cost up to 5,975 / $8,045, which feels like an awful lot for an aluminium endurance bike. However, look further down the price list and the Definition Integrale starts at just 3,400 / $4,578, still with a wireless SRAM groupset, but Rival rather than Force, and without the one-piece handlebar or deep carbon wheels. This feels like a much more natural place for the bike. You still get the same robust aluminium frame and more aggressive geometry, and, perhaps most importantly, you can still choose the size of components like the stem or crank. With a few judicious choices, you should end up with a bike that fits you perfectly for a reasonable price.(Image credit: Andy Jones)The Definition isnt a race bike, or even a pseudo-race bike. It is designed to take the rough with the smooth day after day, year after year, and still work well in any conditions. The Integrale version offers a more aggressive fit, but is still aimed at audaxers, tourers, and trans-continental competitors rather than crit racers.High-spec aluminium bikes are thin on the ground, as most brands use them as entry-level frames and then move into carbon higher up the range. Cannondales Caad14 is one option, but it is a race bike, so it's not really relevant; by comparison, the Force-equipped version is 500 more than the test bike. Widen the search, and Cervelos smooth-riding, carbon-framed Caledonia is 5,200 / $6,499 (Caledonia-5 is 7,000 / $8,999), the Fairlight Strael 4.0 is 4,049 / $5452, and Standerts Pfadfinder is 4,999 / $5765, with Force, both made from steel. In all these cases, you choose your preferred frame material and accept the potential shortcomings for its perceived advantages, be that weight, ride quality or robustness.
