- BIKERUMOR.COMEsker Lorax Ti is Reborn as Go-Everywhere Drop-Bar Mountain BikeFirst introduced back when Esker Cycles started as Advocate Cycles, the Lorax has gone through a bit of an evolution. Compared to the Esker Lorax Ti that was reintroduced in 2022, the third generation of the bike is the most capable yet. Still constructed with a seamless, butted, and cold-shaped 3/2.5 titanium frame, the new Lorax Ti is shaped around geometry for a 120mm suspension fork or 495mm axle to crown. Coupled with massive tire clearance of 29 x 2.2 2.6, this drop-bar mountain bike is ready to go everywhere you point it. Like other Esker bikes, the Lorax includes their Portage Dropout System which is also now compatible with SRAM UDH. Note that this frame utilized flat mount brakes. The frame is also equipped with external cable routing, a threaded bottom bracket, 44mm head tube, and a whopping 22 attachment points for accessories, bags, fenders, etc. Offered in four sizes, the frames offer internal dropper post routing, and have a claimed weight of 2,260g for a large with dropouts and necessary parts. Frame only pricing is set at $2,500, or you can add a Wolf Tooth Lithic Carbon fork for a total of $3,100. Complete builds start at $4,500 with many options. The newly named Tour of Britain Women will take the crme de la crme of the womens sport on a four-day long trail around Wales and northern England. You are forgiven for missing the memo. This race was halted in 2023 due to financial constraints. This year, however, the Tour of Britain Women has risen from the ashes under British Cyclings organisation with a new monicker and a new identity. The reigning champion Elisa Longo-Borghini will not be here to defend her crown. In fact, her Lidl-Trek squad will not compete at all at this years edition, with their home favourite Lizzie Deignan competing for a Great Britain Cycling Team in this race. The favourites will be within the SD Worx-ProTime camp. Lotte Kopecky, the current world champion, will start as the most-marked woman in the pack. There is no time-trial on offer in this race, but the winner crowned in Leigh will have to be a hardy all-rounder.Wales plays host to the Grand Dpart of the Tour of Britain Women and will be front and centre, hosting half of the stages on offer. The course sets out from Welshpool on day one with a finish in the old seaside town of Llandudno. The day after, the race rings around Wrexham, before crossing Offas Dyke into England for Stage 3. The final stages Mancunian hurrah will see the race snake around Englands second city, arriving in Leigh for the final podium celebrations.Stage 1: Welshpool Llandudno, 146kmThe opening stage takes the riders through the depths of North Wales. The day sets off from Welshpool, Montgomeryshire, making a northerly turn once the flag drops. The road will soon become hillier as the peloton negotiates the first climbs of the 2024 Tour of Britain Women. The toughest climb of the day, Llangynog (6.1km at 5.3%) arrives just before the halfway marker on the stage. After the second categorised climb of Tyn y Llindiart, the race will shoot down the Conwy river towards the stages finale in Llandudno. The arrival into the Welsh seaside resort is moderately flat, so expect a sprint for stage glory on day one of the 2024 Tour of Britain Women.Stage 2: Wrexham Wrexham, 144.1kmStage 2 rings around the Welsh town of Wrexham. The parcours moves into England after a handful of kilometres, funnelling the riders along flat and straight-forward roads. The stage returns over the Welsh border in time for the stages first category climb and intermediate sprint. The category 1 Horseshoe Pass (4.2km at 6.4%) comes at a crucial point in the stage, cresting out at the 25km to go marker. From the peak of the climb, the race will turn down through the Clwydian Range & Dee Valley AONB. The road will flatten out within the final five kilometres as the race arrives into Wrexham once again. The profile is open and unpredictable, so its hard to anticipate the weight this stage will have on the GC fight. Regardless, it will be a hard race to control for any team.Stage 3: Warrington Warrington, 111.6kmWarrington hosts Stage 3 of the Tour of Britain Women. The days route will lasso around the north-western town, on a mostly flat profile. The profile will roll through picturesque Cheshire towns around the south Manchester suburbs of Wilmslow and Knutsford. Some climbs punctuate the route around halfway through, but their difficulty is negligible. The races arrival is flat and open. This should allow for a bullish battle for positions on the approach to Warrington. The final kilometres pose some technical difficulties, with a tight hairpin corner within the final kilometre. The sprinters will be out in their droves, hoping for the chance of Tour of Britain glory here in Warrington.Stage 4: Manchester Leigh, 108.3kmThe final stage of the 2024 edition offers a tough and relentless profile around Greater Manchester. The day begins at the National Cycling Centre in eastern Manchester. The race leaves the urban sprawl and heads into hilly periphery roads quickly. Grains Bar (2.4km at 5.8%) comes on the profile just under 20km from the start. The slopes continue at the Ramsbottom Rake (1.1km at 10.1%), a steep kicker in the outskirts of Bury. The final phase of the race snakes around the Lancashire foothills on a more moderate approach to the finishing town of Leigh. The stages hilly profile hands the GC contenders one last chance to shake up the standings. Equally, breakaway hopefuls may sniff out a chance to claim a stage win at the British race.Tour of Britain Women 2024: How to watchJustin Setterfield/Getty ImagesThe Tour of Britain Women will be shown live on Discovery+in the UK and Europe.
