We were right next to each other, fighting for wheels Tim Shoreman outsprints Olympian Ollie Wood to win the Beaumont Trophy
After 100 miles of chaotic racing, the 2026 Beaumont Trophy was decided by the smallest of margins, when Tim Shoreman of Wheelbase-CabTech-Castelli edged out Ollie Wood (Rapha Cycling Club) to win by a tyre width in a thrilling sprint finish.Early on in the four-lap, rain-strafed race, a 10-man breakaway group established what seemed to be an unbridgeable gap of 3 minutes and 40 seconds. A group of eight riders gave chase, Wheelbase-CabTech-Castellis Tom Martin among them, with the teams National Road Series leader, Tom Armstrong, caught back in the peloton. But then, just under 60 miles into the race, a large crash caused the event to be neutralised for 40 minutes, and after the restart, Shoreman says the dynamic completely changed. I think the crash shook everyone up, he told Cycling Weekly. I don't know what caused it. I was behind it and I went through the middle. It felt like there were multiple crashes happening at the same time there was a crash on the right, there were people on the left and people in front crashing They ran out of ambulances. The race route was shortened, with the small lap removed, and it felt like a complete reset, says Shoreman. Some people don't come out of a stop like that so well and it takes a bit of time to get warmed up. After that, we had to get together as a team and try and ride it back to protect Toms series lead. So we took control of the race. Once I made it over the Ryals for the final time, I knew I was in with a shout of winning. My teammates Aaron, Dec, Tom and Adam did a fantastic leadout. In the end, it was a dual between Shoreman, who has just been competing at the Commonwealth Games, and the Olympian Ollie Wood. I wasn't really sure what would happen in the sprint, admits Shoreman. It's quite an awkward one. Like it's quite twisty into the finish. So you have to go quite early. But I thought Id messed up, and gone too early. Ollie was the obvious person in the group that would be really fast, so he was who I was looking at. We were next to each other in the final few kilometres, fighting for wheels. In the sprint, I looked across and he was right there. I was looking down at his wheel and I could see that I'd managed to get to the line just before him. John Bardsley (Private Member) took third place, and Tom Armstrong finished 13th, to take a lead of 45 points into the final race of the series next weekend, at the North Yorkshire Grand Prix.

INTVL Launches Bike Mode Opening Pokmon Go-Style Territory Game for Cyclists
INTVL is a fitness app that turns outdoor movement into a map-based territory game. And a few weeks ago, they launched their bike mode. This brings cyclists into a game previously only available to runners. To mark the launch, the company kicked off a global competition where cyclists competed to claim the most territory in their local area. How It WorksThe way INTVL works is pretty straightforward: every loop you complete, whether running, walking, or now cycling, claims a section of territory on the apps map. That territory can then be taken by other players who ride or run loops around it. This creates an ongoing back-and-forth that keeps things interesting indefinitely. And because maps can be carved up in countless ways, theres no natural end to the game. One of the more appealing aspects of INTVL is that speed doesnt matter it isnt a race. Claiming territory is about completing a loop, not finishing first. That means the game is accessible to cyclists of all fitness levels. The app also includes clubs, leaderboards, and city-versus-city competitions to add a social layer to the experience. We built INTVL because tracking getting in a workout shouldnt feel like a chore. It should feel like a game you cant wait to play. Bringing that to cyclists is something weve been dreaming about, and I cant wait to see all the rides people do to grab territory.-Louis Phillips, Co-Founder, INTVL.Before Bike ModeBefore bike mode arrived, INTVL had already attracted over 2 million runners in the past six months, with hundreds of thousands of active users regularly claiming territory. The addition of cycling opens the app to a broader audience, giving riders a reason to look at their regular routes a little differently. Maybe look at them less as a workout and more as a strategy game played out in the real world. If the other fitness and training apps dont appeal to you, this is an interesting alternative. If INVTL sounds like fun to you, check the link for more details. Its free to play, with no subscription needed. Hit the link below and download the app now.intvl.com

Kogel Introduces the Kolossos Pulsar, Its Fastest Derailleur Upgrade Yet
Kogel has been producing a range of high-end derailleur cage and oversized pulley upgrades for years. The brand recently added the Kolossos Pulsar, which it is calling the fastest to date. Built into Kogels already proven, ultra-stiff Speed Kolossos and Aero Kolossos platforms, the Pulsar pulleys full-ceramic, lubrication-free bearings reportedly deliver absolute peak efficiency and the lowest friction numbers humanly possible.Kolossos Pulsar DetailsAccording to Kogel, when testing Pulsar prototypes, their standard friction test rig gave us a reading of zero watts friction losses. Rather than claiming they had broken the laws of physics, they realized that the friction losses were so low that the standard sensors couldnt detect them. Kogel acquired a hyper-sensitive sensor so they could get a numerical value for comparison.Full ceramic. No lube = less friction.Full Ceramic BearingsWhile Kogel did not share that number, they state that the Pulsar is its fastest yet. This low-friction performance is due to the use of full ceramic bearings, meaning that both the bearings and the inner and outer races are made from ceramic. This is a step up from most ceramic bearings, which use steel races, including Kogels own hybrid ceramic setup.Kogel states that there is very little friction to be lost in the first place with the glass-like ceramic races and super-round ceramic balls. On top of that, the primary benefit is that full ceramic bearings dont require any lubrication. Without metal parts, theres nothing to corrode anyway. But more than that, they say that most of the drag in standard bicycle bearings comes from the lubricant and the seals.Kogel says that its Pulsar pulleys have so little friction that a 30-second free spin on the lower pulley is standard. While that might look cool and give the impression of high performance, they say youll still be throwing away watt savings and shifting performance if you dont have adequate stiffness in the cage.Proven Cage PlatformsTo ensure that riders benefit from the lowest friction possible, Kogel is incorporating Pulsar into its proven Speed Kolossos and Aero Kolossos cage platforms. These were designed with precision and rigidity in mind, because the stiffest cage on the market guarantees crisp, snappy shifting every time you switch gears under load. At the same time, the oversized pulleys 14T upper and 20T lower work to reduce friction by reducing chain articulation. It comes in the standard ultra-stiff Speed cage configuration, while the Aero version borrows that same stiff construction, but then wraps it in a streamlined, wind-cheating profile for time trialists, triathletes, and anyone who thinks aerodynamic drag is a personal insult.Standard anodized black.Performance HierarchyWith the addition of Pulsar, Kogel states that its derailleur cage lineup now falls into a Good, Better, Best hierarchy. This hierarchy is also reflected in the pricing, with claimed performance benefits increasing along with the price. In this hierarchy, the more affordable Kolossos ST is Good, providing 90% of the performance with zero-fuss. The Speed and Aero Kolossos step up to Better with a larger drag reduction and everyday durability. Kogel says that Kolossos Pulsar climbs to the top of the performance pyramid and earns the Best distinction.ColorsThe new Kolossos Pulsar cages look nearly identical to the standard Speed and Aero counterparts, with one minor difference. Theyve added a subtle Pulsar icon on the lower chain guard thats subtle, but distinct enough to stand out to those in the know. Both the Speed and Aero Kolossos Pulsar cages are available in standard anodized black, as well as a gloss white launch edition with a large Cerakoted logo. Additionally, buyers can personalize their cage with a custom Cerakote finish for an additional fee.Launch-edition gloss white.CompatibilityKogel is launching the Kolossos Pulsar in both the Speed and Aero cage shapes in fits for SRAM AXS and Shimano road derailleurs. For Shimano, that includes Dura-Ace R9200 and Ultegra R8100. For SRAM, the cages are made to fit Red and Force AXS derailleurs.Kogel does not recommend Pulsar for off-road use.Pricing and AvailabilityThe new Kolossos Pulsar Speed retails for $599.99, while the Kolossos Pulsar Aero is listed at $799.99. They are available now direct from the brand. Learn more or buy yourself the fastest derailleur cage on the Kogel website.kogel.cc

Moots New Womble is a Shredable Modern Titanium Hardtail and Quite the Looker, Too
Moots has been building titanium mountain bikes for 45 years. Its their thing, and they do it really well. Today, Moots launches the new Womble hardtail, and its no exception to the quality weve come to expect from the brand. The Womble appears to be a refined and modern take on Moots long history of building trail-riding bikes.(Photos / Moots)Look, if youre old enough, like me, you remember grinding hardtails up and down trails long before gravel riding was even a glimmer in your moms eyes. Nothing rides like a well-balanced metal hardtail. The folks at Moots are clearly well aware of this, and are still producing several high-quality and great-looking titanium hardtail frames. The Womble starts at $4,799 for a frameset (with complete builds ranging up to $11,499). This titanium hardtail carries forward 45 years of mountain bike experience while being reshaped for how people actually ride trails today. The frame is hand-welded in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, using Moots proprietary double-butted titanium tubing, and comes backed by a limited lifetime warranty. So this could truly be a buy it for life kind of purchase.Geometry UpdatesThe new Womble picks up several geometry updates over its predecessor that should add up to a noticeably different ride feel. Notably, the head angle has been slackened to 65. This adds stability on steep or loose terrain without making the steering sluggish. A longer reach and added stack create space in the cockpit and a more natural bar position on technical trails. The seat tube is now steeper and shorter. A 2 steeper seat tube angle puts the rider in a stronger pedaling position on climbs. Shortening the seat tube gives more room for longer droppers, making it easier to move around on the bike. A lower bottom bracket drops the riders center of gravity. This makes the bike feel more planted through corners and at speed.Frame SizeEffective TT (cm)Seat Tube (cm)Head Tube (cm)Head AngleSeat AngleBB Drop (cm)Chainstay Length (cm)Standover (in)Fork Rake (mm)StackReachS59.540.01065.075.55.543.430.6140.0647.0420.0M62.042.01165.075.55.543.431.1140.0656.0443.0L64.544.51265.075.55.543.431.9140.0665.0465.0XL67.047.01365.075.55.543.432.7140.0675.0488.0The Womble fits 29 x 2.6 tires while keeping the rear end tight and responsive.
