Wilier Turns 120 with the Filante Ultimate, Its Most Exclusive Road Bike Yet
Wilier Triestina is celebrating 120 years, and instead of doing the usual anniversary thing. The Italian brand is going full Italian superbike. Meet the Wilier Filante Ultimate, billed as the most exclusive edition Wilier has ever produced.Wilier Filante UltimateThe new Filante Ultimate arrives as part of Wiliers 120 Years Forward celebration, marking the brands founding in Bassano del Grappa back in 1906. Thats a long time in bike years. Like, wooden rims-to-electronic-shifting long. And Wilier is using the milestone less as a museum moment and more as a look what we can still build flex. The Filante Ultimate frameset is crafted from a next-generation Toray M40X carbon frame using six different carbon fibers in the layup. Wilier says the goal is to reduce weight while keeping the bike sharp under power. Riders want responsiveness when accelerating, precision when the pace changes, and stability when things get fast. In short, its a Filante turned all the way up.The Fancy BitsAnniversary bikes can go one of two ways. Sometimes theyre mostly paint. Sometimes they get the good stuff. The Filante Ultimate looks like the second kind.Wilier fitted this edition with a long list of dedicated and color-matched parts, including a CeramicSpeed oversized pulley cage, CeramicSpeed bottom bracket bearings, a Miche X2 RD chainring, and Deva RD Daylight Silver wheels. The finishing kit gets the same treatment, with a color-matched painted seatpost, dedicated handlebar tape, painted junction pieces between the handlebar and frame, and blue anodized details on the dropout, axles, and disc lockrings.Theres also a dedicated aerokit and Vittoria tires, chosen to complete the build and sharpen the bikes character.Thats the nice thing about this kind of anniversary project. It is not pretending to be practical. Its not chasing value. Its not built for someone comparison-shopping tire clearance and stack numbers at midnight. This is a statement bike. A collector bike. A yes, we know exactly what were doing bike. And if youre going to celebrate 120 years, subtle probably wasnt going to cut it anyway.Filante Ultimate: A Race Bike with Extra CeremonyWilier didnt provide a claimed weight, price, or production number in the release, which are the first things everyone will ask. Fair. Were asking too.But the direction is obvious. The Filante Ultimate is meant to sit above the normal range as the most exclusive expression of Wiliers road identity. Its built around speed, finish quality, and special-edition detailing rather than simply being another model-year refresh. The Filante platform already leans into aero road performance. The Ultimate treatment adds more polish, more exotic componentry, and more ceremony. The Toray M40X layup and six-fiber construction are the tech headline, but the little touches are what make the bike feel properly anniversary-specific.Painted junction elements. Matched seatpost. Blue anodized hardware. Dedicated tape. Fancy pulleys. Fancy bearings. Special wheels. The whole build is meant to feel considered from nose to tail. Its very Italian. In a good way.Wilier Is Having a MomentThe Filante Ultimate also arrives at a pretty strong time for Wilier. The brand stated, Weve closed 2025 with 70 million in consolidated turnover and began 2026 with 7% volume growth over the previous year. CEO Andrea Gastaldello credits recent success to models such as the Filante SLR ID2, Rave SLR ID2, and Rapida, highlighting Wiliers blend of performance, design, technology, and identity.Translation: the anniversary party is happening while the business is healthy. That matters because heritage only goes so far. Plenty of old bike brands have a history. Fewer manage to keep the product, racing, dealers, and modern brand energy moving in the same direction. Wilier seems intent on using the 120-year mark as a springboard, not a victory lap.A Proper Italian CelebrationWilier held the 120th anniversary celebration at Villa Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta, bringing together dealers, ambassadors, partners, guests, and riders connected to the brands history. At the center of the event was an immersive exhibition built around Wiliers DNA, identity, and design culture. The company framed the whole thing around its Culture of Speed philosophy, speed not just as going fast, but as the meeting point of research, innovation, design, and cycling culture. There are still missing pieces. As of right now, the Filante Ultimate is limited to a cool 120 bikes, but we dont know the price or the claimed weight. But as a celebration bike, the Filante Ultimate does the job.Wilier has been around for 120 years. Thats the heritage part. The Filante Ultimate is the reminder that the brand still knows how to make a bike that gets people leaning closer.Willer.comThe post Wilier Turns 120 with the Filante Ultimate, Its Most Exclusive Road Bike Yet appeared first on Bikerumor.

Ridley's prototype gravel racer blends aero advantage and all-day comfort
Ridley's new prototype gravel race bike is on display at Eurobike, with the unreleased bike looking to have gone all in on aero but not at the expense of comfort. The bike is a departure from the design language of the current Kanzo Fast, with a more angular approach taken to the tubeset. Aero profiling has been added to the seatstays and head tube area, with the seat tube now hugging the rear tyre much closer. Warren tested the prototype earlier this year in Belgium and was impressed by the bike's balance of aero and all-day comfort. The bike looks like a big step forward from the Kanzo Fast. Nick Clark / Our Media The bike on display at Eurobike appears much closer to being production-ready, with only a small amount of dazzle camouflage suggesting it's not yet on the market. It appears the new Ridley is set to be a true aero bike with gravel-bike handling and capabilities. We'd expect there to be a Red XPLR AXS variant when the bike launches. Nick Clark / Our Media The bike uses a UDH dropout, and is specced with SRAM's Force XPLR AXS 1x groupset, suggesting it might not be the top-of-the-range build. From what we gathered when Warren tested the bike, it appears to have clearance for 58mm tyres. However, on the stand, it sat on carbon-spoked Forza Skiron RS wheels with 55mm Schwalbe G-One RX Pro tyres. The seat angle of the bike appears to have steepened, possibly enabling a more forward riding position. The Nimbus Pro bar adds a sleek look to the front of the bike. Nick Clark / Our Media Up front, there's a Forza Nimbus Pro one-piece cockpit, and there's a mounting plate on the top tube to attach a bag. The door features a latch to lock it in place. Nick Clark / Our Media There's also in-frame storage in the down tube, accessed by a door below the bottle cage bolts. 'The heat made it 10 times harder' Zoe Bckstedt storms to time trial title at British National Championships for second year running
Zoe Bckstedt defended her time trial title at the British National Championships on Thursday, storming to victory in the elite women's race.On home roads in Wales, the Canyon-SRAM rider won for a second year in a row, beating Anna Morris by 21.97 seconds in Lampeter. Elynor Bckstedt of UAE Team ADQ, the victor's sister, finished in third, 1:05.07 behind the winner. It was a repeat of last year's winner, but this year's podium was special as it was an all-Welsh affair. The heat was high, with temperatures over 30 degrees centigrade, although the region was only covered by an orange weather warning, not the more severe red, as other parts of the UK.Zoe Bckstedt, setting off last, set the fastest time at the first time check, although that was brought back a bit over Morris at the second, however, by the end, the margin of victory was clear. It meant the 21-year-old averaged 46.9kph over 25.6km."It was super hard, the heat made it 10 times harder than I think I expected to be," the winner said post-race. "It was a super nice course, really fast, with country roads basically. Classic Welsh roads, but it was really fun in a way, even though I think everyone suffered through it. Happy that it's done and over with, and I'm just glad to come home with the jersey. "The route was fun, super small, Welsh roads, super technical. Going through a farm entrance, that kind of thing. It was really fun, nice to do two laps as well, so it wasn't one really big circuit, but you could break it up, and pace it a bit better. Another really good course in Wales."Morris, who is without a team, added: "I think I executed it as well as I could have today, Zoe is super tough to be, she's so strong, she has done some great performances recently. To do the ride I did today, I think I got it all out. I'm really happy with that. "As soon as you're in the direct sun it got really hot, and the heat definitely built on the second lap. It was definitely a battle against the heat."(Image credit: Olly Hassell/SWpix.com)The elite women's race followed the U23 men's event, which was first on Thursday morning.Ben Wiggins was the victor, riding the 25.6km course at an average of 52.9kph. He beat Henry Hobbs (Visma-Lease a Bike Development), 1:19 behind, with Finlay Tarling (NSN Development) in third, three seconds further back,Wiggins, who rides for Hagens Berman Jayco, took the win following two consecutive second-places at the event. It was also 12 years after his father, Bradley Wiggins, won the senior title for a third time. The 21-year-old said: "I was second twice as a junior, second twice as an U23, so I needed to get it done today. It was one of my biggest goals this season, a pathway to the Worlds in September. If I want to go there and be competitive, I really needed to get the job done at the nationals."I didn't think it [the heat] affected me this week. A lot of us have come off the Giro Next Gen, so I did a lot of heat preparation for that race as well, but I think it carried over well. I think I dealt with it pretty OK."ResultsBritish National Road Championships, elite women ITT (25.6km)1. Zoe Bckstedt, Canyon-SRAM, in 32:452. Anna Morris, +21s3. Heavy, Powerful eBike? The Enviolo Utility Hub with Continuously Variable Transmission Can Take It
Located in Amsterdam, eBike component company Enviolo is rolling out its new Utility Hub. The hub features a continuously variable transmission, and its built to handle up to 120 Nm of motor torque with a 400% gear range.(Photos / Enviolo)Its designed for heavier, more powerful e-bikes like cargo bikes, longtails, trekking, and SUV bikes, as well as S-pedelecs. The new Utility Hub replaces the older Heavy Duty and Extreme hubs in Enviolos lineup. That makes a line that features four hubs: Urban, City, Trekking, and Utility. The Utility Hubs wide 400% gear range allows riders to haul cargo or tackle steep climbs while in a manageable gear. When the bike is unloaded, riders can keep pedaling comfortably. Allowing S-Pedalecs to ride all the way up to the 45 km/h (28 mph) assistance cutoff comfortably without spinning out.The hub supports both manual and automatic interfaces. It comes in modular and solid-axle versions as well. Rated for a total weight of up to 300 kg (661 lbs), it covers most loaded cargo bike setups.Envilolo used a development process that included a new test protocol. Envolio says the test validates beyond what the Utility hub itself requires. And, gives some headroom as motor torque ratings continue to climb across the industry.E-bikes are getting heavier and more powerful. Enviolo rebuilt the hub from the ground up with a new cover. Theyve also revised the housing and updated internals to match where the market has landed. So, for riders or brands looking for a transmission that keeps up with todays high-torque motors, the Utility Hub might be the answer.Enviolo.comThe post Heavy, Powerful eBike? This mini enduro bike will get your kids through three growth spurts thanks to clever geometry adjustments
Tiny Rock's unreleased Splicer 279 children's enduro bike takes geometry adjustment to the next level, with a three-position reach adjustment that grows as your child gets taller. The design is very interesting, with the suspension system sitting low down in the frame, with the upper front triangle section bolted onto it. Tiny Rock, which focuses on making high-quality enduro and downhill bikes for kids, appears to have cracked the code for growing children. There are three positions in the system, meaning you should get through at least three growth spurts before needing to replace the bike and hopefully your offspring will be paying for that one. The front portion of the bike can be set to three reach positions. Nick Clark / Our Media While there was no one available at Eurobike to confirm the details, it looks as though the system increases reach by around 20mm at each notch. The bolts hold the top portion of the front triangle in place. Nick Clark / Our Media It's a neat little idea, with the suspension featuring a high-pivot design with a reward axle path, accompanied by an idler pulley at the centre of the bike to reduce pedal kickback. The new Tiny Rock Splicer 279 at Eurobike. Nick Clark / Our Media The layout of the bike seems to be logical, too, with the weight centred nicely around the bottom bracket area, keeping the centre of gravity low. The low standover height should make smaller riders feel more confident out on the trails, and the Splicer 279 has a similar silhouette to some of the beautiful bikes Unno makes. It runs a mullet setup, with a 29in wheel up front and a 27.5in wheel out back. The Seekrun wireless dropper seems a good solution for small hands. Nick Clark / Our Media On display were a carbon fibre frame and an aluminium model built up with a Fox 38 fork, SRAM Eagle 70 groupset and Magura Louise Elite four-piston brakes.
