Supernova Superdropper is 'world's first dropper post with integrated tail light'
Supernova has unveiled its new Superdropper dropper post at Eurobike 2026, with the brand stating it's the first dropper post with an integrated tail light on the market. The post incorporates a TL3 MINI rear light on the top of the dropper mast, which takes power from the battery of an electric bike. It's a clean design, with Supernova saying the biggest design obstacle was routing the light's cable through the dropper post damper cartridge. Read more: 14 of the best dropper posts in 2026, and our buyer's guide While it will likely appeal to commuters and urban riders, the Superdropper is fully trail-optimised, with post lengths ranging from 125mm to 200mm. The light has been integrated very smartly. Nick Clark / Our Media Supernova is offering the post in 30.9, 31.6 and 34.9mm diameters, meaning it should be compatible with most frames. The dropper comes in various lengths and diameters. Nick Clark / Our Media Because it's powered via a 12V circuit, the Superdropper is activated by the lighting button on your electric bike's interface. The dropper lever itself is said to attach via Matchmaker or Shimano i-Spec. Supernova offers a five-year warranty on the lighting portion of the post, although it isn't clear if that carries over to the dropper. This Chinese brand looks set to revolutionise ebike motors and it's not Avinox
e-CVT's motors seem to be the early story of Eurobike 2026, with Chinese brand Gobao displaying its new X1P motor, overlooking the hype at the Avinox stand. Whether the brand's presence forced the hand of Avinox to display its MG Concept isn't clear, but the motor looks to be equally impressive on paper at least. Like the MG Concept, the X1P bundles motor, shifting and drive into a single device right at the centre of the bike, moving weight into a more desirable location and reducing unsprung mass by removing the rear derailleur. Read more: Avinox is taking over here are 20 bikes you can buy with its incredible new M2 and M2S motors Like the MG Concept, the motor looks no bigger than we're used to. Nick Clark / Our Media The system is said to weigh 3.8kg and is capable of matching Avinox's 150Nm of torque and 1,500 watts of peak power. Similar to the MG Concept, the Gobao motor has a continuously variable gear ratio of up to 500% and can be adjusted up to 600%. The screen looks very similar to Avinox's Nick Clark / Our Media The system adjusts the gear ratio to your desired cadence, power input or terrain variability, although if you still prefer shifting gears, the system will simulate them for you out on the trails. Belt drives seem to be the popular choice for these new motors. Nick Clark / Our Media The benefits of an e-CVT (Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission) motor go further than never needing to change gear, with no rear derailleur to smash off rocks and reduced maintenance needed, especially when used in conjunction with a belt drive. You can still shift if you want to. If the upcoming Tour de France is tempting you to invest in some new summer racing gear, it's worth knowing that Decathlon is dangling some crazy deals on Van Rysel bikes and clothing at the moment, including high-end RCR Pro road bikes
Not so long ago, the RCR Pro from French brand Van Rysel was one of the most talked about race bikes on the road, with smart lines and signature design flourishes (including cut-out on the seat tube, dropped seat stays, sloping top tube and a slightly deeper head tube) that had some people drawing comparisons with the Specialized Tarmac SL7. Ridden by the pro athletes of Decathlon CMA CGM and proven in the peloton at the highest level, the RCR Pro is armed with a Shimano Ultegra R8170 Di2 groupset and Deda Superzero handlebars. With a 790g carbon frame, the bike comes with Swiss Side Hadron 500 Classic wheels, with 370 hubs, and is equipped with an Inpeak power meter.Full price this steed will set you back a cool six grand, but at the moment perhaps as a counterpunch to Amazon Prime Day Decathlon has knocked over a third of the price off on the bike in the carbon / smoked black colourway offering a saving of more than 2000 and bringing the ride-away price down to 3,999. Just add pedals and youre good to go, right in time to take advantage of all that Tour de France inspiration.
