- IRISHCYCLE.COMClarity added that drivers must yield to people waiting at zebra crossingsRule applies to zebra crossings with and without orange Belisha beacons. Zerba crossings across cycle paths also given legal backing.Clarity has been added to legislation outlining how drivers must yield the right of way to pedestrians waiting to cross at zebra crossings, not just those who have started to cross.Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan made the change to the Road Traffic(Trafficand Parking) Regulations, which are secondary legislation that forms part of the road traffic law.The written legal changes outline how a driver of a vehicle shall yield the right of way to any pedestrian who is waiting to cross or has commenced crossing the road at the crossing. In legal terms, shall means must and where the Road Traffic Acts and related secondary legislation mention drivers, the phrase generally includes people in control of bicycles, e-scooters, motorcycles, or any motor vehicle. Previously, the law outlined that drivers must yield the right of way to any pedestrian who has commenced crossing the road at the crossing. It is understood that both Courts and insurance companies viewed this as including people who showed an intention of crossing, but such cases rarely go above the District Court or Circuit Court level, where there are rarely written judgments. The new situation gives clarity in written legislation, which can be read by anybody online. The new regulations also allow for zebra crossings across cycle tracks. The firming up of legislation follows the recent changes which allows councils around Ireland to roll out zebra crossings without expensive Belishabeacons. As reported in March, the move followed a trial which found different options to be safe and effective. The Belisha beacons are still be an option depending on the situation, but now so too will continental-style zebra crossing signs with the addition of a fluorescent high-vis border, and, for low-speed environments, the option of raised zebra crossings with painted markings without any sign or beacons.IMAGE: Example image from Traffic Signs Manual advice note of a zebra crossing with just signs.0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 123 Visualizações

- BIKERUMOR.COMRoval Control SL Team XC Race Wheels Dip Under 1,200gThe goal behind the extremely lightweight new Roval Control SL Team wheels was to give their XC riders the fastest possible wheels for the 2024 Olympics. The project started in 2021 with 8 samples of wheels, ranging in stiffness and weights. They had their pros ride them on the same loop over five hours. They measured both subjective feedback from the riders, and actual feedback coming vibration and other sensors on the bike and wheels. They machined several hubs in-house and tested an assortment of carbon fiber (stiff) and glass fiber (flexy) spokes. In all, they tested 36 different variations to arrive at a wheel that just the right amount of stiff, compliant, light, and fast.Shown above, the silver hubs are one of the prototype designs. Note the smaller brake mounting flange and small mounting nubs created by machining even more material away. The concept was (at least partially) to reduce heat transfer to the hubs in addition to saving weight, but ultimately they went with a slightly more robust design.Whats impressive is that theyve achieved this weight with a 6-bolt rotor designmost brands use Center Lock to produce a lighter hub shell, but then we end up with heavier rotors. The result? The new Control SL Team wheels are 70g lighter than the current SL with a claimed weight of just 1,180g.They actually use the same rim as the Control SL wheels, so the weight savings comes from the spokes and hub. That rim has been good to them, so they didnt want to mess with that.Compared to XC rims in general, they say its 33% more impact resistant, on par with some competitors trail wheels, and that their racers havent broken in a wheel in years. Thick 4mm bead hooks have 40% better pinch flat resistance, so itll help save your tires, too.A note about these wheels compliance & stiffness: Specialized did point out that other brands wheels, particularly those with companion bike brands (Syncros & Scott, Reserve & Santa Cruz), may rank differently in stiffness, wind-up, etc., because those are the specs that worked well for those brands bikes.Specialized designed theirs for the new Epic 8 to be optimized as a system. So, while you and I are still likely to be very impressed with their performance, their performance might be even better on the new Epic 8.The carbon spokes are custom-made for Specialized, theyre not a stock item. And theyre only using 20 spokes, not 24 like on the standard SL model.Even with the lower spoke count, theyre tested to perform with a loss of up to two spokes, so you can ride home in the unlikely event you break a spoke. Its unlikely, because they say theyre much stronger than the steel spokes they use on other wheels. With those, youre more likely to break the spoke than the rim. With the carbon spokes, the rim will break (also unlikely) before the spokes do.While these wheels were made for their athletes, theyll have 400 sets available globally in black-on-black.Theyre yours for just $3,300 and come in a special box with the following:Ti Rotor BoltsEnd Caps and End Cap ToolMicrospline Freehub Body (stock with XD)SINC BearingsRoval Branded Dynaplug Racer Pro + extra set of plugsSpoke Kit (20 total)Premium Double Wheel Bag1 S-Works Fast Trak 29 x 2.35 & 1 S-Works Renegade Tire 29 x 2.352 Custom Roval Water BottlesPersonalized letters from S-Racing RidersWant a set?
