Sea Otter Wrap-Up: Anodized Parts, Radial Tires, Gear Storage, NA Beers, & More
The 2026 Sea Otter Classic wrapped up a week and a half ago, and weve been doing our best to report on all of the cool new bikes, components, and accessories we saw at the expo. From 32 everything to instant coffee, there was no shortage of interesting products to find in the booths at the Laguna Seca Raceway. But to wrap up my Sea Otter coverage, heres a collection of things that caught my eye and that I feel deserve mention.Below youll find a seemingly never-ending supply of anodized parts, more mountain bike tires with radial casings, the most beautiful bike at the show (in my opinion), entrepreneurs with new products trying to get noticed, and more. And not a single mention of 32 wheels, tires, or bikes (except this disclaimer), I promise. Check it out.The Best Looking Bike at Sea OtterJosh Ogles titanium full-suspension bike on display in the Mavic booth. Just look at it.Weve seen this titanium masterpiece before. In fact, we covered this Ogle bike in detail after seeing it at MADE last fall. But I wasnt there, so I didnt get to see it in person. Now that I have, Im going on record as saying it was the best-looking bike I saw at the Sea Otter this year. Obviously, the lines, titanium tubing, and gold logos matching the Kashima on the suspension are eye-catching, but its the detail in the 3D-printed lugs that really seals the deal. Hit the link above for a deeper dive and more detailed shots taken with a nicer camera than mine. The 3D-printed details add a lot to the bike, including texture.Respect the HustleIts never easy to start a new business, and that seems particularly true in the cycling industry, especially since COVID. Which is why I was impressed to see a couple of smaller, up-and-coming brands at Sea Otter, doing their best to get noticed in a sea of exhibitors. Not to mention that their products looked pretty darn interesting and somewhat unique in the marketplace.Nadive Tailgate PadsNadive owner Justin Leiter showing his COMPACT tailgate pad. These pads fold down to a tiny size when not in use.Nadives owner, Justin, reached out via email before the show, but I didnt have specific plans to meet up with him. Fortunately, I happened to be passing by his booth when he grabbed my attention. With his tailgate pads, Justin has essentially distilled the concept down to its simplest form. He makes two models, the strapless COMPACT and the strap-on COMPACT+, both of which fold down to a very compact size when not in use, and look incredibly easy to install and remove.Silicone print on the inside to prevent slippage. The Nadive pads appear to be a big step up from using a towel or moving a blanket over your tailgate, but just as convenient. They are made from a PVC-coated tarpaulin shell covering 3/4 EPE foam padding to protect your bikes and your tailgate. A silicone dot print on the inside of the pad adds grip and stability in transit. Both pads are 26 wide, cover a bit less than half of a truck tailgate, and look like theyll fit 2 bikes easily. The COMPACT+ (left) has straps, while the COMPACT (right) has a strapless design. The COMPACT ($57) is strapless, so it installs in seconds by simply draping it over your tailgate. The COMPACT+ ($88) has two straps with metal g-hooks to secure it under the tailgate, plus stitched-on daisy chains and two Voile straps to secure your bikes to the pad. When not in use, the folded pads are tiny and will essentially disappear in your truck or garage until you need them. Nadive is taking preorders now with pads estimated to ship in June.nadive.comRockinator Body ArmorThe Rockinator system looks pretty streamlined and highly breathable, and all the pads are CE Level 2 certified.I was walking out of the media center when Pau from Rockinator approached me to check out some new body armor. I dont personally wear body armor, but if I did, Id sure as heck want it to be breathable, which appears to be one of the design priorities with the brands modular system. The system includes the zippered, armored vest and a base layer with integrated shoulder pads. Pau was wearing a 3/4 sleeve baselayer, which also had elbow pads, but that doesnt appear on their website yet. The open structure of the pads on the Rockinator vest should allow plenty of airflow. The body of the vest and the optional padded baselayer are made from a breathable mesh-like fabric. The vest includes eight pads covering nearly the entire torso, including the chest, upper and lower back, ribs, and abdomen. All of the armor panels appear to be highly breathable with a very open structure, yet they are all rated CE Level 2 for impact protection. In addition to providing fairly comprehensive torso protection, they included pockets on the lower back so you can stash some items in there while you ride. Lower back pockets add some storage to carry items while you ride. The Rockinator armor looks highly breathable, relatively comfortable, with a streamlined fit and thoughtful design. Its currently available with special launch pricing of $245 for the vest and base layer combo through the Rockinator website.rockinator.comMore Radial TiresNew Radial tires from Vee Tires and e*13.Given the success of Schwalbes Radial tires, we figured it was only a matter of time before other brands got on board the Radial casing train. This year, weve already seen Specialized, Vee Tires, and most recently, e*13 introduced new tires with Radial casings. Though weve already heard about all of these, it was good to see them at Sea Otter. As a fan of the enhanced grip and control of Schwalbes Radial tires, Im excited to try some more options from other brands.Vee Tires The Attack HPL (left), Attack FSX (middle), and the Snap WCE MK2 (right) are Vees new Radial options.Vee Tires was showing its new Radial casing lineup of gravity-oriented tires. These were introduced a couple of months ago and should be hitting the market pretty soon. Dubbed RAD-Core, the radial casing will be coming on the three tires in the photo above to start. Ive got a set of the Attack HPL and the Attack FSX (as a front/rear combo) lined up for testing, and Ill share my impressions once I get some time on them.veetires.come*thirteen Grappler RadialsWe posted a piece on the new Grappler Radial tires from e*13 yesterday, so I wont bore anyone with the details here. Long story short, theyve got three models with radial casings that appear to be aimed at aggressive riders and terrain, with tread patterns that look chunky and strikingly similar to the Vee Tires above.ethirteen.comKitworks The Kitworks Gear Box set up for mountain bike gear.I got my hands on a Kitworks MTB tote late last year, and Ive been loving the modular system, tough materials, and new level of organization that it has brought to my cycling gear. Turns out, the brand makes more than just heavy-duty tote bags. I swung by the Kitworks booth to check out some of their other gear organization solutions. The Gear Box above is more structured than the tote, making it stackable (apparently up to 250 lbs), but it is collapsible when not in use. It has a modular design, so you can compartmentalize the storage however you like, with loads of system accessories like pockets, cubes, and dividers to choose from. I wish my camp kitchen were anywhere near as organized as the Gear Box in the photo above. Kitworks selection of gear cubes, accessories, and even the Velcro gear ID labels is well developed to dial in your setup. The Adventure Duffel has a modular storage design and comes in two sizes 60L and 90L.The Adventure Duffel employs the same durable materials and modular storage design as Kitworks other products, but turns it into a more travel-friendly duffel bag package. The top opens all the way and is designed to hold its structure, so you can easily see and access your gear. The Laminated shell material is tough and weather-resistant, as is the YKK Aquaguard zipper. It has reinforced carry handles, removable backpack straps, and it comes in 60L and 90L sizes. mykitworks.comSQlab LTD. SaddlesIf youre tired of your bike saddle color options being black and black, SQlab has a few interesting LTD versions of its ergonomic saddles to choose from. The Mike Metzger saddle with the eyeballs is undoubtedly going to attract some attention, but if youre familiar with freestyle motocross legend Mike Metzger, the design seems pretty appropriate. The ION saddle is part of a collaboration with SQlab and ION, which includes ergonomic mountain bike grips in the same colorway. The Escape saddle is also part of a collection that includes an off-road drop handlebar and handlebar tape that comes in the same sand and green colors as the saddle.SQ Lab was also showing a new 614 ERGOWAVE Active 2.1 saddle with carbon rails. The rails are the biggest update to the saddle and increase the price to $219. sq-lab.comDrift ShoesDrift shoes are set to officially launch in the next week or so, but we got a sneak peek at Sea Otter. Formerly a brand known as DZR, Drift is starting out with a new model called the ARC (pictured above), which they are referring to as an SPD-compatible cycling sneaker. It appears Drift is trying to set itself apart from the competition with the feel of the full leather upper and skate shoe-esque aesthetics.Inside the somewhat casual-looking shoe is a waterproof membrane for weather protection and a reinforced toe box to shield against rock strikes. Underfoot, a composite shank provides a pedaling platform, and theres a full-coverage rubber sole with 2-bolt cleat compatibility. Were told theyll be available in five different colorways, and should be available May 5th.drift-sports.comAnodized EverythingAs usual, there was no shortage of anodized parts on display throughout the Sea Otter expo. Ive never been one to color-coordinate everything on my bikes, mostly because I cant afford it, but I appreciate it when other people do. Plus, Im easily distracted by bright colors and shiny things. Below is just a fraction of the anodized parts to be seen at Sea Otter. Race FaceRace Face has been in the color game for a long time, and they were showing off their matching Atlas handlebars and cranks, Vault hubs, Turbine stems, and an entire tree made of colorful pedals. raceface.comWolf Tooth ComponentsWolf Tooth Components offers a wide range of anodized colors, available across a deep selection of their parts and components. If youre interested in matching as many parts as possible on your bike, Wolf Tooth is probably your best bet. Check out their Color Shop the next time youre doing a custom build. Theres a heck of a lot more than whats in the pictures above, including some soon-to-be-released hubs.wolftoothcomponents.comFreedom Coast / Better BoltsI got turned onto Freedom Coasts products when I learned about and tested their 90-degree Pod Clamp last year. The brand also makes a huge range of colorful brake mount adapters (left), brake lever upgrades (middle), and even some slick air cap and compression dial replacements for Fox forks (right). Thats in addition to the truck bed and camper van rail systems and fork mounts they sell. freedomcoast.netAnd if youre really going all-in on colorful bits, Freedom Coast and Better Bolts are basically the same company. Better Bolts offers a huge array of colorful titanium bolts to fit nearly everything on any bike (see the photos above). They make pretty much any bolt you could possibly need in gold, black, silver, copper, and rainbow (oil slick).betterbolts.comWhite IndustriesWhite Industries didnt have anything white to show at their booth, but they did have anodized red, blue, gold, and purple hubs, headsets, spacers, BB shells, rotor lockrings, and more.ZENOWeve written about a few innovative products from ZENO before. Most recently, we featured the brands Q-Connector V2 Hydraulic Quick Coupler, which they had on display at the booth. Weve also talked about innovative designs like their Reaction EX Floating Brake Rotors. But what really caught my attention was the well-organized display of colorful brake rotor adapters, dropper levers, and mechanical disc brake calipers. ZENOs Speedclip Dual Mechanical Disc Brakes actuate both pistons simultaneously for even, smooth, and consistent braking performance. They come in a variety of colors, as well as flat-mount and post-mount versions.zenocycleparts.comAnd Many MoreCane CreekHope TechThere was so much more anodized goodness to see; this post could honestly go on forever, but it needs to stop somewhere. Ill wrap up the anodized gallery with a couple of the best in the business. Cane Creek (left) offers a huge range of its parts in anodized purple, silver, gold, blue, and red (plus black), and makes them easy to find and coordinate in its Chroma Studio.canecreek.comLikewise, Hope Technology has been putting out colorful parts of all kinds for years, helping riders bling out bikes with their beautifully machined and engineered components of all kinds. From bottom brackets to pedals, brakes to dropper levers, Hopes products are a classy and high-performance addition to any build.hopetech.comCheers to NA BeersDrinking an NA Beer at 10 am is perfectly acceptable, even when youre working. There was no shortage of regular beer to be found at Sea Otter, but it might have been even easier to find non-alcoholic beverages at the expo. Dont get me wrong, I love beer, but I am 100% in favor of the growing popularity and growing number of great-tasting non-alcoholic beers. Best Day Brewing was in attendance, providing folks with their whole range of NA beers. The Electro-Lime Cerveza was super refreshing and my personal favorite of the brands varieties. Athletic Brewing was also on hand, offering attendees their full lineup of NA beers and mocktails. Athletics Tuckers West Coast IPA might be my new favorite.Either way, the NA Beer revolution is here, and Im happily incorporating more of them into my post-ride routine. Not gonna lie, its pretty nice to crack a cold one at any time of day with zero guilt and a clear head. And on that note, cheers to bikes! Til next year, Sea Otter. The post Sea Otter Wrap-Up: Anodized Parts, Radial Tires, Gear Storage, NA Beers, & More appeared first on Bikerumor.

    Bagman Utility Rack
Carradice launches Bagman Utility Rack range for gravel, commuting and touringBritish luggage specialist Carradice has unveiled its new Bagman Utility Rack range, a lightweight and adaptable carrying system aimed at riders who want extra cargo capacity without the need for traditional rack mounts. The new range is designed to cover a broad spread of riding styles, from bikepacking and gravel adventures to everyday commuting and touring. Carradice says the key idea behind the system is simple: create a practical luggage solution that works on almost any bike, including those without rack eyelets. That makes the Bagman Utility Rack particularly relevant for gravel bikes, folding bikes, lightweight touring builds and urban commuters who need flexibility without committing to a permanent, frame-mounted setup. At a time when more riders are looking for versatile kit that can move between bikes and riding disciplines, the Bagman Utility Rack looks like a smart addition to the market. Rather than following the usual formula of a fixed touring rack, Carradice has gone down the route of a universal cargo platform built around compatibility and ease of use. For riders who have struggled to fit luggage to bikes with minimal mounting points, that could be the biggest selling point.Carradice has built the new racks from welded stainless steel, with reinforced stainless steel lugs, in a bid to balance durability with low weight. Each rack is rated to carry up to 6kg, which should be enough for a good range of riding essentials, whether that is a saddlebag for day rides, a dry bag for an overnighter or additional luggage for commuting. The racks also feature integrated welded strap loops to help keep loads secure over rough ground and mixed terrain. That emphasis on real-world practicality feels consistent with Carradices long-standing reputation in cycling luggage. The company describes the Bagman Utility Rack as part of a broader modular system, rather than a standalone product, with compatibility across existing Carradice luggage and other strap-mounted bags. In practice, that means riders are not locked into one very specific setup, and can adapt the rack to different uses depending on the ride. For bikepackers and gravel riders, the appeal is obvious. A compact rack with strap loops can offer a more stable platform than some direct-to-bar or direct-to-seatpost luggage options, particularly when the weather turns or the surface gets rough. For commuters, meanwhile, the promise is a lighter and less complicated alternative to a full traditional rack, especially on bikes that were never designed with utility in mind. Touring riders may also appreciate the option of a simple carrying system for lighter loads. The launch line-up includes three models. The Bagman Utility Front Rack comes in at 79.95. At the rear, riders can choose the Bagman Utility Rear Rack Standard for 74.95, or the Bagman Utility Rear Rack Quick Release for 89.95. European pricing is listed at 103.95, 97.95 and 115.95 respectively.Carradice says the Bagman Utility Rack range is available now through its retailers and distributors. The company also says a complementary product range designed to work alongside the system is planned for Q3 2026, suggesting this launch may be the start of a broader push into modular carrying solutions for modern riding.Founded in the UK, Carradice has been making cycling luggage for more than 90 years. While the brand has deep roots in traditional cycle touring, it positions itself today within the modern bikepacking and adventure space, focusing on durable, repairable luggage systems for gravel riding, touring and everyday use. That heritage gives the new Bagman Utility Rack range a strong base, especially for riders who value kit that is built to last rather than treated as disposable. On paper, the Bagman Utility Rack range looks like a sensible answer to a familiar problem. Plenty of modern bikes are fast, capable and versatile, but not especially luggage-friendly. By targeting that gap with a universal rack system, Carradice is aiming squarely at riders who want carrying capacity without the faff of a full rack-and-eyelet setup. If the on-bike stability matches the promise of the design, this could become a useful option for anyone mixing gravel riding, commuting and light touring on the same bike.

Maratona dles Dolomites returns for 2026
Maratona dles Dolomites returns for 2026 with peace at its heartThe Maratona dles Dolomites will return to Alta Badia on Sunday 5 July 2026, and this years edition carries a theme that reaches well beyond the finish line. For its 39th running, one of Europes most iconic sportives will be built around the idea of Pax, or peace, with organisers presenting the event as both a sporting challenge and a shared act of solidarity on the roads of the Dolomites.Set against the towering passes of northern Italy, the event has long been about more than numbers on a results sheet. In 2026, organisers are leaning into that identity even more strongly, framing the Maratona as a place where riders from across the world come together through mutual effort, respect and the simple rituals of endurance cycling. According to event president Michil Costa, peace is found in small acts such as helping another rider, sharing the strain of a climb and riding side by side with strangers who briefly become companions. That message is reflected in the look of this years event. The official logo for the 39th edition uses the colours of peace in a fractured, contemporary design, with organisers saying the visual identity is intended to mirror the fragile and complicated nature of the present moment. Rather than offering a neat answer, it is meant to ask a question about shared values and what it means to move forward together. If the Maratonas cultural message feels especially resonant in 2026, its appeal as a bucket-list sportive is as strong as ever. Organisers say they received 32,400 applications for 8,000 available places, underlining the enduring pull of the event among amateur riders worldwide. The field is split evenly between Italian and international entrants, with riders from 85 nationalities expected on the start line. Behind the scenes, 1,500 volunteers will help run the event, while Italian broadcaster Rai2 is set to provide six hours of live coverage. As always, the real draw is the route selection. The Maratona offers three options, each built around the legendary roads that have defined so much of the Dolomites cycling mythology. The full Maratona route measures 138 km with 4,230 metres of climbing, the medium course comes in at 106 km with 3,130 metres of elevation gain, and the shorter Sellaronda route covers 55 km with 1,780 metres of ascent. Riders will tackle names that need no introduction to seasoned fans of mountain sportives and Grand Tour racing alike: Pordoi, Sella, Gardena, Campolongo, Falzarego, Giau and Valparola. For one day, those roads will once again be closed to traffic, giving participants the rare chance to experience the Dolomites in near silence, surrounded by early summer colour and huge limestone walls.Maratona dles DolomitesThe event week itself has grown into a festival of cycling. At the centre is the Maratona Village, where brands, exhibitors and visitors gather for product showcases, talks, live entertainment and food. Saturday remains dedicated to the Maratona for Kids, while the wider programme includes open rides through the week. Among them is the Sunrise Coffee Ride, an early morning spin from La Villa to Gardena Pass via Corvara, finishing with cappuccino and a croissant on the summit. Also returning are a Wednesday ride with a local champion and the Pinarello Ride, with a special guest still to be announced. One of the more distinctive additions this year is a cooking class centred on the so-called Maratona Dish. Scheduled for Thursday, the session will be led by Chef Manuel and is designed to blend local identity, good nutrition and the kind of food culture that has always sat naturally alongside cycling in the Alps. It is another sign that the Maratona is increasingly positioning itself as a full regional experience rather than a single day in the saddle.Charity remains a significant part of the events identity. For 2026, organisers say 400 entries were sold for charitable purposes, raising more than 83,000. The funds will be shared between three organisations: Insieme si pu, which supports the Times of Peace project for people working in conflict zones and post-war reconciliation efforts in Congo and Bosnia; the Nervo Pasini Foundation, which backs a project providing daily hot meals and support for vulnerable people in Padua; and the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, which promotes sport as a tool to help prevent youth hardship.Even for riders who miss out on a Maratona place, Alta Badias early summer calendar still offers a taste of traffic-free climbing. The Sellaronda Bike Day will take place on 6 June, before returning on 12 September, with the roads around the Sella Group closed to motor vehicles for a 53 km anti-clockwise ride featuring 1,637 metres of ascent. Then, on 20 June, the Dolomites Bike Day will open up a 51 km loop over Campolongo, Falzarego and Valparola, with 1,370 metres of climbing and no need for registration. Both events continue the regions winning formula of combining spectacular riding with a softer, more sustainable use of the mountains. For many riders, the Maratona remains one of cyclings great amateur experiences because it manages to balance grandeur with intimacy. It has the scenery, the famous climbs and the near-mythical status, but it also trades on something more human: the feeling that for a few hours the road belongs not to traffic, status or noise, but to shared effort. In 2026, with peace chosen as the events central theme, that idea feels more deliberate than ever. On these roads, at least, the act of riding together is being presented as its own quiet statement.

Santini x Eroica reunite for 2026
Santini x Eroica reunite for 2026 with a collection that blends vintage soul and modern performanceSantini has renewed its partnership with LEroica for 2026, unveiling a new Santini x Eroica range that taps into the romance of heroic cycling while still delivering the comfort and technical performance riders now expect. The Italian brand says the collection is built for cyclists who see riding as passion, challenge and lifestyle, with the line spanning heritage-inspired wool pieces, contemporary riding kit and casual off-bike clothing. At the heart of the launch is a wool line that leans heavily into Eroicas nostalgic identity. Santini says the standout jerseys, Colnago and 29 Gaiole & Vino, use classic details including mother-of-pearl buttons on the rear pockets and metal zips, giving them the look and feel of traditional racing kit from cyclings golden era. Crucially for devotees of the event, both jerseys are described as Eroica Approved, meaning they can be worn during Eroica events for a properly authentic period-correct appearance. That old-school aesthetic is not confined to pure retro pieces. Santini is also pitching modern wool garments such as the Iris jersey, which combines merino wool with polyester to preserve a vintage look while improving day-to-day ride performance. It is a smart middle ground, aimed at riders who love the visual language of classic cycling but are less willing to compromise on moisture management and practicality. The wool range is rounded out by shorts intended for long distances, an important detail given Eroicas long hours in the saddle and mixed terrain. Santini has fitted these shorts with its GITevo chamois, featuring a gel core designed to boost comfort and protection, including on gravel roads. That technical insert suggests the collection is about more than simply dressing the part, it is also about making tough all-day rides more manageable.Alongside the heritage pieces, Santini has built a full technical riding range for summer use. The Orcia jersey for men and the unisex Timo jersey are joined by the Timo baselayer, with the brand highlighting low weight, breathability and a slim fit as key features. Santini also points to performance-focused details such as technical fabrics for moisture management and silicone grippers at the hem, underlining that this side of the collection is aimed squarely at riders who want modern function wrapped in Eroica style.Completing the on-bike line-up are the Vigna bib shorts, which are designed for medium to long distances. Santini says the shorts combine elastic compression, breathability and comfort, once again using the GITevo chamois with gel core. For riders who want one foot in the past and another in the present, the Vigna bibs look to be the most contemporary product in the range, offering a technical base to pair with either the more modern jerseys or the woollen tops.Off the bike, Santini is pushing the Eroica identity as a lifestyle rather than just an event-day costume. The casual collection includes crew neck sweatshirts, Monte fleece jackets and cotton T-shirts for both adults and children, all designed to carry the Eroica look into everyday wear. Accessories also play a big role, with cycling and casual caps, gloves, neck warmers, socks and silk scarves all included in the wider range. In practical terms, the pricing puts the collection firmly into premium territory, though broadly in line with what many riders would expect from a made-in-Italy brand with strong technical credentials. Recommended retail prices start at 30 for the Timo base layer and rise to 170 for the wool jerseys, with wool shorts at 150, the Iris jersey at 110, Orcia and Timo jerseys at 110, Vigna bib shorts at 130, sweatshirts at 65, T-shirts at 45 and fleece jackets at 90.The collection will be available through Santinis website, at Eroica events and via selected retailers. For a collaboration built on one of cyclings most evocative names, that broad availability should help it reach both committed Eroica regulars and riders who simply want a taste of the sports heritage in their everyday kit choices.Santini, founded in 1965 by Pietro Santini, says all of its garments are made in Italy and built around four principles: fit, performance, comfort and durability. With the 2026 Santini x Eroica collection, those values are being filtered through a very specific lens, one that celebrates gravel, suffering, style and the deep pull of cycling history. For riders drawn to the mythology of the sport, this looks like a collection designed to wear its story as proudly as its logos.

2026 Canyon Lux World Cup CFR Drops In On More Travel, Lower Weight for South Korea WC
At first glance, the new Canyon Lux World Cup CFR XC race bike looks a lot like the previous edition that debuted four years ago. But a closer look reveals a more capable, lighter cross-country race bike thats destined to be faster. It gets 10mm more travel front and rear, and yet the new CFR frameset still is 4% lighter, or 23% lighter than the last CF frame. Plus, its geometry is way more suited to modern technical XC racing, with a much steeper headtube, slightly steeper seat angle, and longer reach also making it a much more versatile ride.Oh, and its a lot cheaper, too. With the top-tier CFR frame now available in a complete bike build thats 3000 or 42% cheaper than the lowest-priced CFR bike in the previous generation that makes all these new top-level race tech advancements much more accessible to the average XC racer.2026 Canyon Lux World Cup CFR carbon XC mountain bikeFaster, lighter, more capable than ever. That all sounds good. This new generation of Canyons top Lux World Cup CFR mountain bike was developed to build a more capable cross-country race bike. It did that together with some of the most successful pro XC racers. (All photos/Canyon)In 2025 alone, Canyon athletes racked up 41 UCI World Cup wins on Luxes, plus several individual National Champ and World Championship titles. The inputs from those top racers really shaped how Canyon refined the new bike. And they sought to make it more affordable. Because most Lux World Cup riders dont have the support of sponsors and a pro race team. But in evolving the Lux World Cup platform for more technical racing, Canyon seems to have also created a much more versatile lightweight XC platform overall.Whats new? There are five key changes vs. the previous generation that improve the new Lux World Cup platformFirst, the bike gets 10mm more travel front & rear, now to 120mm at the front paired to 110mm out back.To match the added travel, it also gets more progressive geometry for more capable descending, without sacrificing nimbleness. Its headtube is now 2.5 slacker, seattube is 0.5 steeper, and its wheelbase is 43mm longer with 5mm longer chainstays. The CFR frameset is also lighter. At 1480g, thats 55g lighter than the 2022 CFR or 445g lighter than the 2022 CF frameset. And complete bikes are still as light at 9.82kg/21.6lb, even with longer travel, and all bikes coming stock with dropper posts now.Plus, its more adjustable. A new flip-chip at the lower main pivot lets riders tweak anti-squat to tune the bikes pedaling efficiency feel to individual rider preference, chainring size, or track style.Lastly, the new Lux World Cup CFR is said to improve reliability based on a stiffer 3D-forged alloy rocker link and new circlip-secured bearings within the shock extension for greater bearing longevity.Improved XC race kinematicsCanyon describes the new 110mm of rear travel as smoother and more consistent. The revised linkage-drive single pivot with flexing seatstays features a revised leverage ratio curve that is much flatter than the previous generation. The result is more consistent suspension progression throughout its slightly longer travel, allowing Canyon engineers to make the bike feel more active at sag without losing much in the way of pedaling efficiency. That more linear, decreasing leverage ratio allows a more plush suspension where the bike spends most of its time for improved rear wheel grip, especially on technical climbs, while retaining the same end stroke support that lets racers push the bike hard to its limits. An ideal match combined with the newly slack 66 head angle, 5mm longer frame Reach, and 43mm longer wheelbases.Downhills are crucial not just for speed, but for recovery. A good bike that lets you relax on fast, technical descents make a huge difference because whoever recovers best on the downhill wins the next climb.
