Garda conduct 10 raids after hijackings on Dublin greenway, covert patrols used to identify suspects
Hijackings and robberies on the Grand Canal Greenway around Clondalkin in Dublin have prompted Garda to conduct what they referred to as a high-intensity policing operation with 10 raids and two teenagers arrested.Garda said that they have seized two electric bicycles and a bank card that are believed to have been stolen, and other items, including two e-scooters suspected of being used during robberies. Photos posted online also include an electric scrambler-like motorcycle. The urban greenway, under the control of South Dublin County Council, has been the most problematic for years, with reports of hijackings and assaults reported by this website and others. Users have repeatedly complained that barrier points on the greenway are where people are ambushed, but this has fallen on deaf ears in terms of a response from the council, who see it purely as a policing issue. Officers attached to the Serious Crime South and Community Engagement units in Clondalkin conducted the operation along the Grand Canal Greenway between Killeen Road, Dublin 10 and Grangecastle, Dublin 22.The Grand Canal Greenway is a busy route used by walkers, runners and commuters on bicycles, e-bikes and e-scooters.In response to hijacking incidents of vehicles along the Grand Canal Greenway, Garda have been engaged in a combination of covert and proactive patrols to identify suspects, said a statement posted on the official An Garda Sochna Dublin page on Facebook. The statement, posted yesterday, said: Today, Garda executed 10 search warrants at domestic residences in Ballyfermot, Clondalkin, Kilmainham and Lucan. During the course of the operation, Garda seized two electric bicycles suspected to be stolen, two e-scooters suspected to be used during robberies, 3 electric bicycle batteries with the serial numbers removed, electronic devices of evidential value and a bank card believed to have been stolen. In addition, Garda arrested two juveniles in connection with this investigation.Garda said that the policing operation is a targeted collaborative approach involving the Serious Crime South Detective Units and Crime Task Force, which was supported by the Clondalkin Community Engagement unit as part of Operation Meacn. The statement added: The aim of Operation Meacn is to tackle the use of electric vehicles such as e-motorcycles which are being used for criminal activity including drug dealing, money laundering, transporting firearms, Drug Related Intimidation (DRI) and other serious offences.IMAGES: Photos from Garda.

TRP Introduces Two New 4-Piston Brakes to the EVO Family: The EVO Expert & Comp
It has been just over a year since TRP introduced the EVO Pro. The new offering from Tektro Racing Products (in case you didnt know the acronym) provided what some thought were some long-awaited improvements to TRPs DH-R EVO brakes. Now, two more brakes find their way to the EVO Family: the EVO Expert and EVO Comp. TRP simplifies the EVO offerings and claims to provide race-level stopping performance at all levels.TRP EVO Brake FamilyOkay, to be clear, the TRP EVO Family actually consists of four brakes. Also on the docket is the EVO X, a 2-piston brake for light trail and cross-country. The EVO X brakes feature titanium hardware to save weight and were developed in collaboration with XC World Cup race teams. Now lets jump to the 4-piston options. We already know quite a bit about the TRP EVO Pro brakes since their release a year ago. The introduction of these brakes established them as the brands new flagship brake, providing the most prolonged power and adjustments. The EVO Pro brakes feature hybrid pistons (alloy/ceramic), which dissipate heat more effectively. The levers are forged alloy and feature both pad contact and reach adjustment without the use of tools. And, the EVO Pros come in gold, silver, and black color options.Moving to the new TRP EVO Expert, we see a very similar offering to the Pro, with some slight differences. Aside from the lack of color choices (black is the only option), the EVO Expert brakes lack pad contact adjustment. They maintain the hybrid pistons, though.Minus the pad contact adjust on the new EVO Expert leverReach adjustment is still there, however, and still without tools. And the Expert levers are a bit different as well. While the EVO Pro levers are 6061-T6 forged alloy, the Expert levers are die-cast alloy. The EVO Comps lose the reach adjust dial on the leverStepping down to the EVO Comp, TRP still claims quality power but without the bells and whistles. Inside the calipers, the hybrid pistons have been swapped for alloy. While there is still no pad contact adjust, there is lever reach adjustment, but it isnt toolless. The Comps also share the same die-cast levers as the Experts.EVO Pro: 632g / $307.99 (black), $318.99 (silver), $329.99 (gold)EVO Expert: $224.99EVO Comp: $169.99What About Previous EVO Offerings? Will the DH-R EVO brakes still be around? What about the Trail EVOs?While TRP didnt say it directly, this announcement seemed to imply that former brakes would be put out to pasture. So, I reached out to TRP to ask whether any current offerings would be phased out or discontinued.According to TRP, the Trail EVO and Slate EVO are being phased out. That said, they also told us the Trail EVO will remain an OE option on select bikes for another year.As far as the DH-R EVO, it doesnt appear to be going anywhere. Again, according to TRP, it will continue to be part of the lineup for the foreseeable future.Hopefully, we can get a set of the new EVO Comp or EVO Expert brakes in for some long-term testing.trpcycling.comThe post TRP Introduces Two New 4-Piston Brakes to the EVO Family: The EVO Expert & Comp appeared first on Bikerumor.

"Persistently challenging and increasingly volatile market conditions" premium ebike brand withdraws from US market despite tariff relief
Riese & Mller will stop selling bikes in the USA from July, citing persistently challenging and increasingly volatile market conditions, despite relief from proposed tariffs that saw it pause imports last year. The premium German ebike manufacturer says it will focus on its European core markets following an extensive strategic and economic assessment of its presence in the US. Given the current circumstances, it is more important than ever for us to focus our efforts on our core markets and strategically bundle our capacities, said CEO Dr Sandra Wolf in a statement. Despite its withdrawal, the brand says riders will continue to receive support, including access to spare parts, while all warranty obligations will be honoured. Orders for new bikes will remain open until 31 July. New product orders will no longer be accepted after that date, with existing stock in the market continuing to be sold while supplies last. Read more: Best electric bikes: 24 top-rated ebikes for every type of rider Exit comes despite easing tariff pressure Riese and Mller paused imports to the US last year. Riese and Mller The move comes less than a year after Riese & Mller suspended imports to the US in August 2025, citing the impact of tariffs on steel and aluminium used in ebikes. The company told retailers it was unable to ship bikes due to new US import rules, which would apply tariffs of up to 50 per cent on metal content used in bikes, forcing it to pause deliveries while it assessed the situation. Riese and Mllers move comes despite successful lobbying from industry body PeopleForBikes, which has seen the US government step down on the proposed tariffs. In a statement published this week, industry body LEVA-EU said PeopleForBikes had over 1,300 public comments... submitted against the tariffs, although it noted tariff duties continue to apply to component items such as steel chains, bearings and other assorted hardware and hand tools. Although the industry is celebrating a win on an issue that would have had serious financial and practical implications for companies in the industry, the withdrawal of an influential brand underlines the impact on confidence this period of instability has had on the US market.
