Shimano returns to Eurobike 2026 after withdrawing, as German industry bodies announce rival show
Eurobike is the worlds largest cycling trade show, but its future has looked far from stable with key exhibitors and Germanys two most influential trade associations withdrawing their support. Now, the show, which takes place annually in Frankfurt, has been hit with a double whammy of good and bad news. In January, Shimano announced it was withdrawing from the show. The company stated the decision reflected its focus on prioritising our customer- and consumer-focused events where it can connect with riders and business partners in ways that are personal and relevant to how the industry is evolving. A long-term partner of the show, Shimanos withdrawal was seen as a blow to Eurobike, especially after Bosch eBike Systems confirmed it would not exhibit at the 2026 edition. Read more: As Eurobike struggles, the cycling industry makes the case for its future But Eurobike revealed in a press release last week that Shimano Europe will attend this June after all. Fairnamic, the shows organisers, also confirmed Canyon, Amflow, Mahle, Tektro, FSA and others will be in attendance. At Eurobike 2026, Shimano will set up an outdoor testing area, giving visitors the opportunity to try out equipment. In a change of tune from January, Shimano Europes David Greenfield said: Shimano will have a vital and more focused presence at Eurobike this year. It is an exciting opportunity for people to experience our technologies in the best possible way: by enjoying a nice ride in the fresh air. Yet, Shimano Europes rekindled support for Eurobike comes as several German industry bodies have announced a rival show following a dispute with Fairnamic. German trade body ZIV (Zweirad Industrie Verband) and Zukunft Fahrrad announced their withdrawal from Eurobike in October 2025 after failing to reach an agreement with the shows organisers on how to make the event more relevant to the industry. Eurobike has endured mixed fortunes in recent months. Eurobike Frankfurt The two groups released a 10-point plan aimed at strengthening Eurobikes status in the industry, but they said its proposals werent met with equal commitment. Now, in a press release published yesterday following its annual general meeting, ZIV announced that a merger with Zukunft Fahrrad will take place in 2027. The two associations plan to pool their expertise and leverage synergies to represent the bicycle industry with one strong, unified voice in the future, ZIV said. But what will likely alarm Eurobike is that ZIV CEO Burkhard Stork also revealed at the AGM that it is working with determination to develop its own leading international trade fair with a European reach. The new show is said to take place in Autumn next year. Read more: Eurobikes heyday is over, so how can it stay relevant?

Swing up to 375lbs with 1UP USAs New RakAttach XL & 32 Wheel Adaptors
The coverage of the 2026 Sea Otter Classic continues with the RakAttach XL from 1UP USA. I was strolling by the booth and caught a glimpse of the new, larger swings unique Support Jack doing its job holding the loaded rack, so I stopped by to see whats up.The RakAttach XL is the brands solution to the original RakAttach issue, where some trucks are unable to open the tailgate fully in certain instances. So, the Rak Attach XL is wider and more robust. It can hold up to 375lbs, which is a whopping 100lbs more than the regular RakAttach.Locking pin open (unlocked)and closed (locked)Because its wider and can hold more weight, the Rak Attach XL comes with a Support Jack that looks easy enough to deploy when needed. The swing can pivot up to 90 degrees to either the driver or passenger side. Providing completely unobstructed access to the back of your vehicle.Support JackThe Support Jack stows above the swing adapter, and then must be removed from storage and attached to the end of the adapter in order to use. It has a pin-based height adjust system with an adjustment knob to dial in the last bit for a supportive lift that prevents the adapter from sagging under a full load. Designed to be used with a 2 receiver only, the RakAttach XL uses the same bombproof wedge-style, anti-wobble system thats used on all 1UP USA racks.Support Jack Storage32 Wheel Adaptors32 Wheel Adaptors (Photos / Ron Frazelle)1UP USA was also showing off their new, completely modular 32 wheel adaptors. They look simple to use, and a good solution to convert any existing 1UP rack to take the 32 bike youll, more than likely, be getting in the next year. The new adaptors look like a taller version of the brands Quik Slide, but are compatible with more of the brands racks. They didnt provide a cost on them, and they arent on the site yet. But I would imagine they will be priced similarly to the Quik Slide, around $52 to $64.RakAttach XL RetailRetail: $899Whats Included:SECURITY:Custom Ratchet Wrench, 5/8 Locking Hitch PinHARDWARE:Support Jack included for stability and stores effortlessly, Mounting hardwareINSTALL GUIDE:Easy-to-follow instruction manualWARRANTY:1-Year WarrantyWeight: 76lbs1up-USA.comThe post Swing up to 375lbs with 1UP USAs New RakAttach XL & 32 Wheel Adaptors appeared first on Bikerumor.
