eMTBs of Sea Otter 2026: Some May Look Familiar, Others Wont
A few weeks ago, we covered the explosion of brands adopting the Avinox motor on their eMTBs. And, guess what? Quite a few of them were at Sea Otter. But there are other eMTBs out there that werent covered in that initial roundup, some with the Avinox, some without. So, without further ado, heres a quick look into Sea Otters eMTB scene for 2026.Some Avinox Additions Seen at Sea OtterThe Commencal Meta Power SX isnt necessarily new, but the drive unit is. Obviously, it features the new Avinox MS2 drive unit with 150Nm of torque and an 800Wh battery. Not only does the new Meta Power SX feature the new drive unit, but Commencal made a few tweaks to the frame. Its a bit longer, a bit slacker, and has a slightly steeper seat tube angle. The Meta Power SX features 160mm of travel paired with a 170mm fork and rolls on mixed wheels.Ari was also teasing a new Avinox-equipped e-bike at Sea Otter, the Wire Peak. They are staying fairly tight-lipped with all the details, but here is what they were able to share:Alloy frame, 150mm of travel160 (stock) or 170mm fork29er or MX wheels64 HTA / 78 STA4 sizes (SXL)4-way geo adjust800Wh or 600Wh battery optionsPerhaps best of all is the price. Ari says there will be three or four build options, with prices starting under $5,000.Something New From KonaWell, sort of new. The Kona Remote 160 isnt a new name to the brand, but they have done a complete revamp of the bike. And, it made its debut at Sea Otter, with more details to come in the next few days.It is still a 160/160mm bike, but there are a few firsts for the Remote 160. Unlike previous iterations, and any Kona e-bike for that matter, the Remote 160 is their first carbon e-bike offering. Obviously, they also changed up the shock placement. Kona did this to easily fit the range extender in the front triangle across all sizes.Speaking of range extenders, the Remote 160 comes with one. Out of the box. No additional purchase necessary. The bike features a Bosch SX drive unit, SRAM Ultimate-level suspension, Maven brakes, and a Di2 drivetrain.New From NorcoAlso in that new category is the Norco Sight VLT Bosch A. While the Sight isnt a new name to Norcos lineup, this bike certainly is. It features an aluminum frame, 150/160mm of travel (rear/front), and a Bosch PX drive unit.Yeah, you heard right, Bosch PX. It has 700W of power, 90Nm of torque, and a 600Wh battery. It is offered in five sizes, mixed-wheel options, and, best of all, an affordable price range. Prices for the Sight VLT Bosch A start at $4,799 and top out at $6,599.Maybe Youve Heard of Them, I hadntBulls eMTB with a one-piece carbon cockpitIt is fun to discover brands you either havent heard of or know very little about. And, as you might imagine, Sea Otter is the place for it.Bulls is an interesting co-op-owned brand in Germany. I chatted with their American distributors here at Sea Otter about the new e-bike they had on display. It features a Bosch CX drive unit paired with a 600Wh battery, 150mm of travel (front and rear), and integrated lights. And it is priced pretty competitively, with prices starting around $4,500 for the full alloy frame. The carbon front/alloy rear bike on display is around $6,000. Bulls expects to release the bike this summer.Another brand I was relatively unfamiliar with was HPC. Their Trail Blazer enduro features 155mm of travel paired with a 160mm fork. And it certainly doesnt lack power, perhaps blurring the lines between e-bike and moto, with a Bafang motor delivering 185Nm of torque.Their bikes at Sea Otter were paired with 1,050Wh batteries, which HPC said are made in-house. Jumping onto their website, it looks like HPC provides quite a few options for battery size, power output, etc, so you can likely get it down to class 1.Shimano Motors RepresentThe Shimano EP8 motor was also spotted on several bikes here at Sea Otter. The Jamis Defcon features a 150mm alloy frame with particularly long chainstays. They offer two builds, with the lower listed at $6,000 and the higher at $7,500.The Defcon E1 looks to be a pretty solid build, with TRP DHR brakes, Fox Performance suspension, and an XT mechanical drive unit.Canyon also uses the Shimano drive unit on a few of its eMTBs, including the Torque ON and Spectral ON. We all likely remember the issues Canyon had with its batteries, which led to an eventual recall. Now, all is good, and Canyon was happy to share that both the electrified versions of the Torque and Spectral are being shipped.More From BoschThe Avinox release has certainly garnered a lot of attention. The word is that Bosch has something in the works that we look forward to hearing about. Regardless, there were some pretty cool Bosch e-bikes at Sea Otter, with some pretty sweet paint.Non-drive side photo for the win!The Revel ReRun was present, looking so sweet with a custom paint job from Tec-Gnar. The big squish enduro rig features a Bosch SX drive unit.Polygon had their emerald-green Collosus TE with a Bosch CX drive unit. Prices start at $7,500 and, damn, that color really pops.Cannondale was also showing off its Bosch CX-equipped Moterras. This bike embodies long, low, and slack, and, from personal experience, feels incredibly planted. However, you might clank a pedal or two off the ground.A Drive Unit/Gearbox MashupIntradrive is a UK-based drive unit brand that said, Why not put it altogether?! They produced the GD8, a gearbox/motor mashup which, in my opinion, really makes a lot of sense.Intradrives GD8 drive unit features 700W of peak power, 8 speeds, and weighs 4.5kg. The GD8 has electronic shifting with a 0.1-second shift speed. It is currently compatible with e-bikes that have a Shimano EP8 motor, and can accommodate a belt or a chain. At Sea Otter, the Intradrive unit was displayed on two bikes made for the show. The guys from Intradrive told me that the focus is on business-to-business (I think B2B is what they call it) rather than on manufacturing a frame. Is it an eMTB?Lastly, I couldnt walk past this Salsa Wanderosa without asking: eMTB or eGravel? Regardless, it is a rad bike and frankly just looks good. The post eMTBs of Sea Otter 2026: Some May Look Familiar, Others Wont appeared first on Bikerumor.

2026 Sea Otter Classic Overland Rig Roundup Plus an Off-road Buggy and a Harley
Our coverage continues with another fun gallery. There is a great deal of crossover when it comes to bicycles, overlanding, and camping, like it or not. And the 2026 Sea Otter Classic had plenty of vehicles that looked up to the task. Some of the vehicles that I shot while here were not always easily accessible; some were hiding in the booth. But I took the picture anyway, so you guys can see what I saw. Some are really cool, like the old Ford F250 in the Yakima booth.Others arent overlanding vehicles at all, like the FOX Harley and the Maxxis buggy. But those were too cool not to include in this gallery, so theyre in there. Lets take a dive into the 2026 Sea Otter Classic overland gallery, and I hope you enjoy it. Amstel Gold Race Preview
Embed from Getty ImagesAn open race with Remco Evenepoel as the lone representative of the Unbeatables, can he take on the field and win? The Amstel marks an interlude between Sunday Monuments but makes for a fun race because it is so tricky and technical, as Tadej Pogaar discovered to his peril last year. The Course: a 257km labyrinth contained in a 20km x 30km section of the Netherlands that resembles an appendix dangling between Belgium and Germany. Theres 3,300m of vertical gain and none of the climbs alone are hard but 33 of them add up and in the final third positioning counts for so much as the course is full of tight turns and knowing where to move up counts for plenty. Go into a climb beyond 20th place and its easy to miss a split or be forced into a costly acceleration to make it across. Go in third wheel and a rider can afford to drift back a few places if it suits and this way save a lot of energy. The Finish: up the Cauberg and then 1.5km over the finish line to make a for a tactical moment where its a long way to hold out if a climber wants to jump on the Cauberg, where dropped sprinters can be towed back into contention and more.Embed from Getty ImagesThe Contenders: Remco Evenepoel (RedBull-Bora-Hansgrohe) is the star name in the absence of fellow unbeatables Tadej Pogaar, Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel. Given the way one of these names wins the spring classics to the exclusion of the rest of the field then this ought to be his turn. But jostling for position and subtle tactics are not his strong points although he can handle both, indeed last years race is a good example where he bided his time before setting off in pursuit of Pogaar. He can sprint well too these days but last years race is a bad example where he lost to Pogaar and Skjelmose.Embed from Getty ImagesMattias Skjelmose (Lidl-Trek) leads a team thats struggling this season, currently sandwiched between Uno-X and Cofidis on the UCI rankings. If much of this has been to injury for Pedersen and Ayuso, the team were not the collective force on the cobbled classics and they now bring a new cast to the Ardennes classics. Skjelmose is a good rider but the Amstel twice in a row is a big ask. Albert Withen Philipsen and Quinn Simmons are outside picks, the Dane was strong in the breakaway during the Ronde van Limburg earlier in the week.Embed from Getty ImagesVisma-LAB have been one of worlds best teams and this is their home race but theyve regularly struggled here, only winning once in their post-Rabobank days thanks to Wout van Aerts photogenic appearance in 2021. Matteo Jorgenson is out to remedy this and should thrive on these roads but we can find quotes from him saying he cant sprint so its probably solo or bust. Ben Tullet and Axel Zingle bring more options, the latter packs a good sprint but would prefer the finish on the Cauberg itself.Embed from Getty ImagesIts a pity the Brabantse Pijl has been moved to a Friday slot as plenty of riders skipped it but Benot Cosnefroy (UAE) made the breakaway that got caught at the flamme rouge and still sprinted third place in the finish. Dropped by Decathlon, due to go to Picnic-PostNL only for the deal to fall through late, he was hired by UAE as a bargain so is not a strategic pick but is still their best rider here as one of several riders who make the Ardennes a big goal when its only four races in under 10 days from the Pijl to Lige.Romain Grgoire (Groupama-FDJ) is almost a copy-paste of the paragraph above, in the break in the Pijl but salvaging fourth place and another rider who aims for the tiny window of the Ardennes.Staying with French riders brings us to Ineos with three Gallic options: Dorian Godon to hold on for a sprint, Axel Laurance to provoke a move or two and win from a reduced sprint and Kvin Vauquelin to make a race-winning attack.Tibor Del Grosso (Alpecin-PremierTech) might be the best hope for a home win but a World Tour win against this dense a field is a lot to ask for.Bahrain have a cohesive team but Pello Bilbaos win rate is low, ditto Matej Mohori. Edoardo Zambanini is promising. Finally some more names with Ilan Van Wilder (Soudal-QS) able to race for himself. Alex Baudin (EF) in form and Mauro Schmid (Jayco) is having a great season. Alex Aranburu (Cofidis) looks rejuvenated, Clment Champoussin (XDS-Astana) is riding high in results but how to win while Paul Lapeira (Decathlon-CMA CGM) can be a sniper on a good day and is capable of winning World Tour races.Remco EvenepoelSimmons, Skjelmose, Jorgenson, Vauquelin, Van WilderSchmid, Grgoire, Cosnefroy, Lapeira, Del GrossoLaurance, Godon, AranburuWeather: a cool 14C with some sunshine and a light 10km/h breeze from the NW, and an outside chance of rain.TV: the race starts at 11.10 and the finish is due around at 17.10 CEST. Host broadcaster NOS goes on air at 1.10pm with the womens race due in at 2.00pm but there should be a livestream on their website earlier.Womens Amstel Gold Race preview: local hopes of a home winner look more likely. This blogs picks are Puck Pieterse (Fenix-PremierTech), Demi Vollering (FDJ-Suez) and Micha Bredewold (SD Worx-Protime), the latter being last years winner and in form. But ProCyclingUK.com has a more detailed preview and different picks. The post Amstel Gold Race Preview first appeared on The Inner Ring.

Spotted: Unreleased Mavic Comete 50 Shoes 32 Alloy Wheels
Mavic is a very traditional company; the yellow banner (and car) is one of the most recognizable in cycling. It brings an emotion, a racing heritage, and a long history in wheelcraft. Sometimes, however, that doesnt mean the latest and the greatest. Largely, we see the foundational cycling companies being reluctant to change, especially when it comes to their core product.(All photos/Jordan Villella)The new and improved Mavic team is seeing things differently and is not only ready for changes like 32 wheels for mountain/gravel, but they are also leading the charge. We spotted some cool 32 alloy mountain bike wheels, new unreleased Comete 50 race rockets, and an M strap styled all-around road shoe.Mavic Cross Max 32 Alloy Wheels When we see new products, its usually from the top down. Were seeing 32 race wheels, crafted from carbon, and built to the lightest spec to help sell the move to a larger (and heavier) standard. But what some dont see is that most will not be rolling those sweet 32 carbon wheels. The masses (especially when 32 comes to mainstream production) will be riding stout 32 alloy wheels that need to be dialed when the go to 32 lever is pulled.Mavic is ahead of the curve on this one, and has a production 32 Cross Max Alloy wheelset ready to roll, and I wouldnt be surprised to see it as a 32 OEM spec in the near future. The rim appears to be 30mm wide and uses a standard J-Bend Mavic Cross Max hubset with a 6-bolt interface. There was no talk of price, cost, or availability but one thing is for certain. Mavic is ready for the 32 revolution, having already produced a high-end carbon version of the Cross Max SL with the KTM XC team. Now they are aiming for the market entry point.Unreleased Mavic Comete 50 Road WheelsAnother in-plane sight-spotting was a set of Mavic Comet 50 carbon beauties on a just-as-classy LOOK frameset. The Comete 50 wheels are Mavics all-around race wheels, and this new version boasts some excellent updates. The most notable is the carbon spokes, paired with alloy nipples. Most importantly, the spokeheads are captured in the hub and not slotted. This allows all the spokes to stay in the hub rather than disengage, as some have in tragic instances in the classics. The hubs have a classic Mavic look with ceramic bearings and a slightly aero shape, but not so thin as to affect the bearing diameter.Rim-wise, the updated Mavic Comete 50 looks slightly wider. Mavic has been a slower adopter of the wider rim, but they seem to be coming around. The wider look of the Mavic Comete 50 suggests it would be a great complement to 28-32mm tires. No prices, specs, or information were given, but this new Mavic Comet 50 looks to be a great addition to the new Mavic lineup.Mavic AKSIUM Strap ShoeThe shoewear from Mavic has an all-new AKSIUM-level shoe ($179) aimed at the rider who is not into BOA. The idea was to create a better strap, one that is easy to dial in over the forefoot. This design focus led to the new M strap, which allows riders to dial in pressure and snugness where theyd like, without overloading the entire system. The sole is nylon, and is focused on entry to mid-level performance and comfort. The AKSIUM looks like a great addition to the lineup, easing riders into a stiffer-soled, spin shoe without overpricing. Id like to see this tech crossover into a super-lightweight XC shoe.Mavic.com The post Spotted: Unreleased Mavic Comete 50 Shoes 32 Alloy Wheels appeared first on Bikerumor.

Hes so bored that he says: Ill go and ride Roubaix because I want a challenge - Tour de France dominance has become too easy for Tadej Pogacar claims Arnaud Demare

In the days following Paris-Roubaix 2026, that debate has taken on a different edge, with former French sprinter Arnaud Demare offering a blunt assessment of the Slovenians dominance and the mot...
