- WWW.BIKE-MAG.COMLa Stelvio Santini 2026 expands into a full Alpine cycling festivalLa Stelvio Santini 2026 expands into a full Alpine cycling festivalEarly June 2026 is shaping up to be something special in northern Italy, as La Stelvio Santini evolves from iconic Granfondo into a long weekend celebrating some of the finest riding in the Alps. From 5 to 9 June, Valtellina will host a unique blend of competitive events, traffic free climbing and community rides, all set against the dramatic backdrop of high mountain passes. At the heart of it all sits La Stelvio Santini itself on Sunday 7 June, one of Europes most revered Granfondo events. But this year the organisers have gone further, aligning the event with the Enjoy Stelvio Valtellina initiative to offer riders several days of riding on roads closed to motorised traffic. The result is a cycling focused getaway that combines challenge, atmosphere and accessibility in equal measure.Enjoy Stelvio brings traffic free Alpine classicsThe extended weekend begins on Friday 5 June with the closure of Passo Gavia to vehicles. Long considered one of the most beautiful and demanding climbs in Italian cycling, Gavia offers a wild, high altitude experience and the chance to ride uninterrupted through truly spectacular scenery.Further Enjoy Stelvio closures follow on Monday 8 June, when the panoramic road up to the Cancano Lakes is reserved for cyclists, and on Tuesday 9 June, when the fearsome Passo del Mortirolo takes centre stage. Mortirolo needs little introduction, its brutal gradients having earned it a near mythical status among road cyclists.Riders planning to take advantage of these closures are advised to check timings and route details in advance, as access windows vary by day. Maps and suggested itineraries are available through Valtellinas official tourism channels.Mario Zangrando, event director of La Stelvio Santini, believes the alignment is a natural fit. He describes the Enjoy Stelvio dates as a rare chance for participants to extend their stay and tackle three climbs that have shaped the history of professional road racing without the pressure of traffic.Sunset Ride adds a social gravel flavourFriday evening also brings something a little different. At 6pm, Santini Cycling teams up with Reverb to host the Santini x Reverb Sunset Ride to the Cancano Lakes.Starting from the La Stelvio Santini Expo Village in Bormio, the ride is free to enter and open to cyclists of all abilities. While the roads remain open to traffic, the emphasis is firmly on sociability and experience rather than speed or performance. The reward comes at the top, where riders reach the Cancano Lakes as the sun drops behind the peaks. For those planning to tackle the gravel events later in the weekend, it also offers a useful preview of the terrain and atmosphere of the area.Gravel makes its La Stelvio debutSaturday 6 June marks a major milestone for the event with the first edition of La Stelvio Santini Gravel.Designed to appeal to riders drawn to off road adventure and exploratory riding, the gravel event introduces two routes based in and around Bormio. A shorter 44km option includes 1,400 metres of elevation gain, while the longer 70km route ramps the challenge up to 2,000 metres. Both courses explore dirt roads and alpine tracks in an unspoiled mountain environment, offering a very different perspective on Alta Valtellina compared to the famous tarmac climbs. It is a significant addition to the programme and reflects the growing place of gravel within European cycling culture.Sundays Granfondo remains the main eventSunday is reserved for the classic La Stelvio Santini road Granfondo. With start and finish once again in Bormio, riders can choose between three demanding routes that thread together some of the most famous climbs in the region.Passo dello Stelvio remains the headline ascent, with its endless switchbacks and high altitude drama, joined by routes that also include Mortirolo and Teglio. Each course delivers a serious test, matched by the atmosphere that has made La Stelvio Santini a bucket list event for riders from around the world.More than just a raceBy combining Enjoy Stelvio, gravel riding, social events and its established Granfondo, La Stelvio Santini 2026 positions itself as more than a single day challenge. It becomes a true celebration of cycling in all its forms, rooted firmly in the landscape and culture of Valtellina. For riders seeking legendary climbs, new adventures or simply the freedom of traffic free mountain roads, early June in Alta Valtellina promises to be hard to beat.More details can be found at lastelviosantini.com and valtellina.it.0 Commentaires 0 Parts 360 Vue
- BIKERUMOR.COMIts been 15 Years Since Marin Released an XC Bike Introducing the TAMMany will argue that mountain biking was born in the hills and mountains surrounding Marin County, California. Decades ago, early mountain bikers took their klunkers into the mountains and, as they say, the rest was history.(Now, if you are from Colorado, youll likely know a very similar story but with a different location. But that is an article for another time.)To honor the Mt. Tamalpais (Mt. Tam) and the legacy Marin County has left on the sport, meet the TAM. The introduction of the TAM marks the end of a 15-year hiatus for Marin in the XC category. The Marin TAMSo, to be clear, while Marin dubs the TAM its XC bike, it certainly extends beyond a between-the-tape race bike. It can line up at your local race series just as easily as it can be your daily driver. It is the bike to choose for a big backcountry mission or a lunch-break hot lap.Marin designed the TAM leaning more toward modern XC standards and 29 wheels, front and rear, and 130/120mm of travel, front and rear. The headtube angle is a moderate 65, while the seattube angle is 76. Longer reach numbers give the TAM a more traditional XC feel, while the modern HTA and 435mm chainstays provide stability.Stepping away from their faux-bar MultiTrac suspension system, Marin went the way of flexstays. Marin feels that riders not only benefit from the Isotrac Flexstay Suspensions performance but also appreciate its design simplicity. Fewer pivots reduce weight and ultimately means one less bearing to replace. Each shock damper has been tuned to match the unique characteristics of a flexstay and the fork of each model. Marin dialed up a leverage rate that is predictable and balanced, from pushing hard on a race track to an afternoon spin. The TAMs anti-squat sits at 124% (at SAG), while the anti-rise remains neutral at just under 100%.For the frame, Marin sticks with hydroformed Series 4 aluminum, allowing engineers to add strength and save weight where needed. Hydroforming is used for the seat tube and nearby pivots, allowing them to be as light as possible. Yoke-free hydroformed seat stays allow for maximum power transfer, and a curved design minimizes heel rub. The bottom bracket and shock mount areas feature forged aluminum, enhancing durability without a significant weight penalty. But, just how much are those weight savings? Were unsure, as Marins press material didnt note weight (that I saw, at least). Beyond that, the TAM features UDH, boost (14812) spacing, and a 73mm BSA threaded bottom bracket. It also has enough space for two water bottles in the front triangle, regardless of frame size.Three ModelsMarin offers the TAM in three builds, with prices starting at $2,400.The TAM XR is Marins top offering in the lineup, featuring a Fox Performance Elite 34 SL fork (130mm) and a Float SL shock. It has a Shimano Deore Di2 drivetrain, SRAM Motive Silver brakes, and a PNW Loam dropper post. It rolls on WTB KOM Light i30 wheels wrapped in Maxxis Recon Race tires.Marins TAM XR retails for $5,499.At $3,399 is the competitively specd TAM 2. It features the same Fox suspension but at the Performance level rather than Performance Elite. The TAM 2 also moves away from batteries and SRAM, with a full Shimano Deore groupset4 piston brakes and a 12-speed drivetrain. Marin uses its in-house rims on the TAM 2, but still wraps them in Maxxis Recon Race rubber.Marin anticipates the TAM 2 to be the most competitive build.Lastly, the most affordable offering from Marin is the TAM 1. Yes, the more entry-level build veers away a bit from the component performance of the TAM 2 and TAM XR. However, at $2,399, the TAM 1 is priced to accommodate more riders peeking into the sport. The TAM 1 features an X-Fusion Rezza fork and shock, both tuned for the TAMs suspension platform. It also saves money with a MicroSHIFT Advent MX 11 drivetrain and an X-Fusion Maniac LC dropper. Stopping power is provided by Tektros HD-M535 hydraulic brakes, with the same in-house wheels and Delium Fast tires. For full specs and details, visit marinbikes.com.The post Its been 15 Years Since Marin Released an XC Bike Introducing the TAM appeared first on Bikerumor.0 Commentaires 0 Parts 340 Vue

- IRISHCYCLE.COMAfter selling Adare train station for 216k just over a decade ago, Irish Rail pays 2m to buy it back for temporary Ryder Cup platformIrish Rail has bought back the station house and grounds at Adares former train station for 2 million to accommodate a temporary station for the Ryder Cup, prompting a rail advocacy group to question spending public funds on a temporary platform rather than a longer-term solution. According to the Property Price Register, the station was sold for 2 million at the end of last year, after being sold in 2013 for just 216,121. The former station house was being used as a provate residents The train station is on the edge of the village and under 2km from Adare Manor in County Limerick, which is to host the 46th Ryder Cup from September 13th to 19th of 2027. A shuttle train service is planned to run from Limerick Junction to Adare, with passengers making their way to that station using normal services. IMAGE: Main image: A crop of a photo taken in 1965 from the ODea Photograph Collection held by the National Library of Ireland; Image above: A more recent image of the front of the station house (still from Irish Rail persintaion).Adare station is on the Limerick to Foynes railway line, which is being restored as a freight railway. It is expected that passenger services may also be restored on the line, but permanent works for this, including platforms and car parks, are currently not funded. But the company indicated today that the station could be used again in the future.Mark Gleeson, a spokesperson for Rail Users Ireland, a group that advocates for passengers, said: We remain concerned that fleet will be removed from service elsewhere to enable these services, and this is unacceptable to long-suffering commuters. We estimate that 14 intercity carriages would be needed. While fleet is available on weekends, Irish Rail today is routinely unable to operate trains at expected lengths during the week, he said. He added: While providing service for the Ryder Cup, it should not come with an impact on public service obligation services, and it is disappointing that such an amount of funding can be found for a 7-day once-off event, the platform is temporary and provides no long-term value.Irish Rail said that it is likely that the Ryder Cup special services will operate outside of regular timetable hours when existing trains are available.A spokesperson for Irish Rail said: As part of the reinstatement of the Limerick to Foynes Freight Line, Adare Station House and surrounding lands were purchased from project funds to enable completion of the current project and to facilitate any potential future Iarnrd ireann requirements at the location. The project is tasked with building a temporary station for rail services for the Ryder Cup in September 2027. At this time, there are no plans for a permanent passenger station at Adare, but the temporary station will not preclude the construction of a permanent station in the future should the decision be made to advance with such a development, the spokesperson said.Irish Rail said that the construction on the temporary station is due to commence very soon, with completion expected in late 2026/early 2027.A spokesperson for the State-owned railway company added: Provision of special services for large events is part of Iarnrd ireanns normal operations. Iarnrd ireann are working closely with the National Transport Authority on the overall delivery of a public transport plan for the Ryder Cup. It is likely that the Ryder Cup special services will operate outside of regular timetable hours and so will utilise existing fleet.IMAGE: A concept image of the temporary platform, which is to be built soon. Irish Rail said that it will comply with the normal accessibility and safety requirements of normal platforms.0 Commentaires 0 Parts 306 Vue

- BIKERUMOR.COMSea Otter Classic Day One: Jordans Favorite FindsIt seems that we were just here, and I was getting lost on my annual ride to Laguna Seca Speedway for the biggest show in cycling. I get lost every year commuting to the showits almost a joke now. I think I know where Im going, then nope. More exciting than that, however, is the wild and wonderful gear and racing that the Sea Otter Classic brings to the cycling masses.(All photos/Jordan Villella)This year, I started off slow, looking passively for the elusive 32 gear that fuels our comments section. But after a look, I was on a distraction sidequest, finding everything from shoes to new race fuel to racks. Its a healthy mix enjoy! RSVR Hydration So, do we even need a bag for the bladder? RSVR Hydration is pitching its pack as a body-integrated performance system rather than a conventional hydration bladder. The new bladder/bag is aimed at cyclists and endurance athletes who want hands-free hydration without the usual bulk and bounce. Plus, the hydration chamber is divided into three sections to reduce sloshing, which can be uncomfortable while riding. Its modular too. If you want to build a race-day-only pack, you can go with the bare bones version. If youre looking to do a trial run, you can add some extra pieces to hold your gels. The options are pretty legit and smart. Another highlight of a HeatSync design is intended to pull body heat away from the athlete. They are on Kickstarter now, check them out here. Updated Giant Footwear Its been a few years since Giant last refreshed its footwear. For 2026, they are coming out swinging with a full line of new footwear, ranging from entry-level injected nylon soles to full-carbon, top-of-the-line models. Giant developed this new line completely in-house, making it more of a statement than before. The updated line uses Vibram rubber and new insoles with arch-support tokens. The updated shoes are shipping now and are available from below $100 to $270 for the Surge and Charge Ones. Check out more at Giantbikes.com New Rack From TailfinIf youre a fan of bike packing but not a full-on bikepacking rig, youll wanna check out Tailfin. They provide bike solutions without additional rack mounts and snap on/off with a quick, non-invasive mounting process. The current rack offering from Tailfin is the Cargo Pack or Speed Rack, both excellent options, but both are over $400. They are carbon fiber and very handsome looking. But something new is on the horizon. The new updated Cargo Pack drops the carbon for alloy, and makes a few slight adjustments for a more cost-friendly version. It still has the same easy on/off, and looks very similar to the carbon version. But with some additional weight, less bling, and yes less money. No price was given, but keep a lookout on the Tailfin site for a new drop.Evervit NutritionIf youre a fan of World Tour racing and wild Eurocentric nutrition, get your Rapha wallet ready Enervit has landed in the USA.
