Avinox Avalanche Roundup: Eight New eMTBS Launching w/ New Avinox M2S Drive Unit
Avinox disrupted the eMTB market and kicked off the motor-power wars a couple of years ago with its M1 drive unit. Since then, the Avinox M1 has proven to be very popular among consumers and reviewers, receiving high praise not just for its massive power but also for its compact form, smooth power delivery, user interface, and quiet operation. It was only a matter of time before Avinox introduced its next product, which it did earlier today with the highly anticipated, even more powerful M2S drive system. And when we say highly anticipated, we mean it. According to Avinox, over 60 industry partners have integrated the newest Avinox systems. It seems that many brands across the industry are eager to incorporate the new M2S motor into their latest eMTBs. Weve been seeing teases of these Avinox-powered bikes with unknown motor specs for the past several weeks, and even as far back as Athertons announcement in January. With these early announcements, its clear that many brands were hoping to get some attention before the Avinox avalanche happens all at once today. The new Avinox M2S drive unit and the touchscreen display unit, as seen on the Pivot Shuttle AMPd. (photos/Pivot) Eight (of the many) New Avinox-Powered eMTB ModelsAnd an avalanche it is. In addition to the latest Amflow bike that Cory has had a chance to ride, weve got press materials on 8 new models that well cover below. On top of that, were told that new Avinox-powered bikes are coming from at least 12 other brands. You can take a deep dive into the new Avinox M2S drive system in our launch coverage. But if youd rather not, here are the quick hits:The M2S takes eMTB power to a new level with up to 1300 watts of peak power and 130 Nm of torque, plus shorter bursts of up to 150 Nm in Boost mode. It has a compact form factor with stated dimensions of 107mm (H) x 172mm (L), and a weight of 2.65 kg. Additionally, Avinox is introducing a new 800Wh battery (3.77 kg) to power it, along with a wireless remote and an OLED touchscreen control/display. It has five riding assistance modes Eco, Auto, Trail, Turbo, and Boost which are customizable through the Avinox Ride AppPivot Shuttle AMPdThe Pivot Shuttle AMPd. (photo/Pivot)Pivot is adding yet another model to its steadily growing range of eMTBs. The new Shuttle AMPd joins the party as an Avinox-powered version of the 150/160mm Shuttle AM (all-mountain). Like its Bosch-powered sibling, the AMPd features a carbon frame with a dw-link suspension layout. It comes stock with a mixed wheel setup, and theres a flip-chip to switch the rear to 29 on the S-XL sizes; XS is 27.5 only. The new Shuttle AMPd is ready to send. (photo/Pivot)Compared to the existing Shuttle AM, Pivot went a bit more aggressive with the geometry, including a 63.3 (low) / 63.7 (high) degree head tube angle. This is because Pivot says this bike bridges the gap between the existing Shuttle AM and Shuttle LT, and maybe to compensate for the big power of the M2S motor, too. (photo/YT)YT Industries appears to be coming out the other side of the financial issues that have plagued the brand for some time. Since the brands founder and CEO, Markus Flossmann took back over, weve seen some action from YT in recent months. Now, YT is joining the Avinox party with the new Decoy X, a bike that it says has earned the tagline: It feels illegal. The Decoy X has an aluminum frame, 160/170mm of travel, and it rolls on MX wheels. As such, it falls into YTs e-enduro category, with a long, slack, and aggressive geometry to match. The Decoy X looks ready to shred. (photo/Atherton)Atherton began teasing its first eMTB back in January, showing us a bunch of dimly lit photos of an aluminum frame, and thats about it. They were available for preorder months ago, and Atherton sold out the first two rounds before even revealing the motor specs. Well, now we know the rest of the details. The S.170E is powered by the new Avinox M2S motor, but unlike many of the other bikes listed here, it will be specd with the slightly smaller 700Wh battery, so they could have a cylindrical downtube. The S.170 is made from aluminum and has Athertons distinctive lugged frame construction. It gets 170mm of DW4 suspension paired with a 180mm fork. (photo/Mondraker)Mondraker is another brand that hit us with a two-part launch of its new ZENDIT eMTB. We went over the details in the first part of the launch, so check out this article for a deeper dive. The quick and dirty description is that the ZENDIT has a carbon frame that gets 165/170mm of travel using Mondrakers unique ZERO suspension platform. Its a mixed-wheel size affair, but it can be run as a full 29er with a flip chip. The only details that were missing from the first part of the launch were the motor specs, which we now know to be the Avinox M2S drive unit and the 800Wh battery.Build options, pricing, and all of the other details are in our first post, so check it out to learn more, or head on over to the Mondraker website.mondraker.comTeewing Flux OneThe Teewing Flux One. (photo/Teewing)Teewing is a small, up-and-coming eMTB brand that, until now, has only had one model to its name. We got an exciting video teaser of UK ripper Josh Gleeve shredding around on the brands second model, the Teewing Flux One, just last week. Based on the video, the new Avinox-powered Flux One appears ready to really get after it on the trails, and it comes with the 800Wh battery so you can go all day. The Flux One features a full-carbon frame with a category 5 rating, a 180mm fork, and 178mm of high-pivot rear suspension, in the stock mixed-wheel configuration. It can be run as a full 29er, in which case, the rear travel is reduced to 170mm. In addition to changing the rear wheel size, the frame has adjustable geometry, which means theres a lot to unpack on the geometry chart. The takeaways are that its long, low, slack, and adaptable, but it only comes in three frame sizes, M-XL.Josh Gleeve riding the Teewing Flux One. (photo/Whyte)Whyte Bikes has a new Avinox M2S powered eMTB that it says is all thriller, no filler. The new Karve EVO is a gravity-oriented e-bike thats made for self-shuttling to the most extreme lines. The frame has a carbon front triangle paired with an aluminum rear end, and it gets 180mm of travel thats intended to be paired with a 180mm travel fork. It comes in a mixed wheel size setup, but can be converted to a full 29 if thats what people are after. The included geometry chart was low resolution and hard to read, so here are some of the important numbers. The Karve EVO comes in 3 sizes: M, L, and XL, with reach measurements of 457, 482, and 507, respectively. The head tube angle is 63.3 (high) / 62.7 (low), and the seat angle is in the 77-degree range but varies slightly between sizes. Rear center/chainstay length also varies, starting at 445mm and adding 10mm per size. The Whyte Karve EVO RS. The frame is built with BHs Ballistic Carbon Layup technology for optimized stiffness-to-weight and durability to handle the 170mm of Split Pivot suspension travel and 180mm fork. Indeed, BH made this bike for riding in aggressive terrain, and that shows with the purposefully aggressive geometry to match. That includes the 63.5-degree head tube angle, 77.5-degree seat tube angle, 450mm chainstays, and healthy reach measurements (495mm on a size large). First Rides: Amflow PX eMTB Adds Powerful Avinox M2S Motor to Capable Carbon Frame
Amflow is back with a second-generation PX Carbon ebike powered by the 1500W, 150Nm Avinox M2S motor that eclipses their PL debut model. Originally a new bike brand created as the platform for DJI to debut their own motor two summers ago before mainstream brands had bought into the all-new powerful Avinox ebike system yet now Amflow is back with a much more refined PX eMTB powered by the shockingly powerful new M2S drive unit. 2026 Amflow PX all-mountain eMTB powered by Avinox M2SWith two carbon all-mountain framesets and two different Avinox ebike motors, Amflow expands their lightweight, full-power eMTB family with the new PX and PR. Mostly, they get the new Avinox M2S motor that peaks at a shocking 1500W or power and 150Nm or torque in Boost mode, or continuous 1300W of power & 130Nm of torque in regular Turbo mode. But theres also a more affordable version that uses the new Avinox M2 motor that increases the power of the first-gen DJI Avinox M1 motor to Boost out at 1100W & 125Nm of torque. (All photos/Cory Benson)Either way you look at it, Amflow has revamped their P-series ebike platform to be stronger, stiffer, and better handling to take on the toughest trails you can throw at itWhats new?On the outside, the new Amflow PX Carbon Pro we have on test appears much the same as the PL Carbon Pro we rode last year. But a closer look shows almost everything has changed even beyond the fact that the motor has 50% more power!Sure, this new all-mountain ebike still gets 150mm of tweaked 4-bar rear wheel travel paired to 160mm up front. But the new 2.4kg PX carbon frame is about 130g heavier and noticeably much stiffer to boost its handling & steering precision. Its geometry is incrementally slacker. Plus, it now gets three separate flip-chips to adjust rear wheel size, ride height & head angle to your individual style of riding, including a much shorter chainstay length setting for the stock mullet setups. It also gets a more capable aggressive yet still quite light build, with excellent Schwalbe Gravity Radial tires and burly Magura Gustav 4-piston brakes.Lastly, it also features a new 700Wh battery a happy medium between the 600Wh & 800Wh batteries of their first generation now tucked inside a slightly slimmer downtube. Thats all part of Amflows desire to find the perfect eMTB balance. They wanted to make the more-powerful PX more confident riding more technical terrain, but they also wanted to maintain the lightweight, easy-to-ride feel of the original PL. And the mid-sized battery still offers plenty of range for most ebike rides, while now getting super fast charging that can go from zero up to about 75% in just an hour, from a normal-sized charger. In the end, the top-spec model with the new super-powered Avinox M2S motor at a real 21.94kg with pedals is about 750g heavier than the same size Medium and similarly specd Amflow PL Carbon Pro I test rode last year. But this one does feel like a real improvement. How does it ride?Amflows P-series are all quite neutral-riding all-mountain bikes. Light enough at <22kg to be easy to manage and almost feel like a regular bike. Stable just right long, low & slack enduro-inspired geometry. And 150mm of plush Horst-link 4-bar rear travel. Matched to 160mm travel out of 36mm stanchion forks for plenty of stiffness without unnecessary weight. The Amflow PX Carbon Pro rides like a very capable trail bike that you can push to that edge of light enduro trail riding that most mountain bikers actually see. It is a lot of fun, and up for pretty much all of the types of techy trail riding that we love to do.But even with the stiffer upgraded frame, I think heavier or super-fast charging riders would want something stiffer or more beefy if they are looking for an e-enduro bike. This is a very capable all-rounder platform that can take on almost any trail. But it is not a gravity bike.New 1500W x 150Nm Avinox M2S is like riding a rocketA big part of the feel of the new Amflow PX Carbon is that wildly-powerful, yet more controlled new Avinox M2S motor. It feels similar to the power of the original DJI Avinox M1 at first, quietly hiding the 50% power increase. But when you stomp on the pedals, 1300W in standard Turbo mode backed by 130Nm of torque, shoots you forward like a rocket as it kicks in. Hold down the little rocket Boost button and 1500W at 150Nm makes you fly even further.Read more about the new Avinox motor here.Frankly though, the ramp-up of power is so much smoother in this second generation, that the difference between Turbo and Boost modes isnt so pronounced. I think after you get to 1000W or 100Nm of pedal-assist, adding more only really helps if you are chasing a friend on an equally powerful ebike. 700Wh isnt infinite, but it recharges fastThe good news is, that massive power is quite controllable with Avinoxs motor management. But also that youll likely spend a lot of your real trail riding in a lower power mode that wont consume so much energy. Otherwise, that 700Wh wouldnt get you so far. As a 85kg rider, I could get about 40km and 950m of climbing support out of the battery. But our lighter 55kg rider eked 65km and 1500m of elevation out before running the battery flat. In either case, that was quite a good bit of techy riding and fast average speeds. But it is worth noting that lighter riders simply will make if much further with the same battery capacity. #physicsThankfully, a new fast charger (the big one) will get you back 3/4 of a charge in an hour if you want to keep heading out for more riding. And Amflow has a new PR model coming soon that will let you swap batteries to get out again even faster!2026 Amflow PX Carbon Avinox eMTBs Pricing, options & availabilityThe 2026 line-up of new Amflow eMTBs powered by Avinox motors includes four models. Two share the same carbon frame weve been testing and the high-powered new Avinox M2S 1500W/150Nm motor. The top-tier Amflow PX Carbon Pro, like were testing, sells for 9000 / 10,000 / $10,200 with Fox Factory suspension, wired-in SRAM X0 AXS Eagle Transmission, and 30mm internal Amflow XMC carbon wheels. A significantly more affordable Amflow PX Carbon spec sells for 6500 / 7000 / $8000 with Fox Performance suspension, wired-in SRAM S1000 AXS Eagle Transmission, and 30mm internal Amflow XMA alloy wheels. Both of these models are available now in Europe (and Australia). But Amflow doesnt have a current estimated timeline for when they will be available in the USA.2026 Amflow PR Carbon coming soon, at even more affordable pricesTheres also a similar but separate Amflow PR Carbon that features a removable 800Wh internal battery, which can be swapped to a 600Wh version, too. Geometry is almost identical, weight is a bit more (2.9kg frame), and there will be more affordable specs. The Amflow PR Carbon Pro will sell for 5400 / 5900 / $6800 with the high-powered M2S motor, Fox Performance suspension, the SRAM S1000 AXS Transmission, and alloy wheels. Interestingly, the more affordable 4000 / 4500 / $5000 Amflow PR Carbon model will get a less powerful Avinox M2 motor (a tuned-up version of the original M1) with 1100W peak power and max 125Nm torque. Otherwise, it will get a very similar build, just a downgrade Fox suspension setup and more basic Maxxis tire spec.Theres no concrete delivery timeline for any of the PR models at the moment, but Amflow says they should be available later this year.Reach out to the Check on the Amflow website now or their network of authorized dealers to order one of the new PX Carbon ebikes today.AmflowBikes.comThe post First Rides: Amflow PX eMTB Adds Powerful Avinox M2S Motor to Capable Carbon Frame appeared first on Bikerumor.

The BMC Teammachine 01 AMP Road eBike is So Light & Pedalable it Feels Like a New Category
My first ride on the new BMC Teammachine 01 AMP Road bike was on a brutally windy day in the Tuscan countryside. The day was windy enough that nearly everyone heading out for a ride was eyeing the ebikes to help power through the wind. Having not been given any primer on the new bike, I simply figured out the controls and set off. I was immediately impressed by how smooth and quiet the power delivery felt. As soon as you ride out of Tenuta Il Cicalino, you are greeted with steep hills and with the wind intensely buffeting, the extra assist was welcomed. Putting the new Ornot Spring clothing collection to use. (All riding photos/Roo Fowler/BCA) There was a specific point that I remember looking down at the speedometer and thinking, damn. 26 mph. This thing is flying! It wasnt until the next day that I realized that this is a European model, so the assist cuts out at 25 km per hour, or 15.5 mph. I was pedaling an ebike solely under human power, doing 26mph into a headwind. What? Most ebikes have enough weight and drag from the motor that you dont want to be pedaling them around without assistance. The BMC Teammachine 01 AMP is not that bike. Instead, the motor is there to simply give you a bit of assistance when you need it, and disappear when you dont. As BMC puts it, Look like a pro. Ride like a pro. Feel like a pro.Technical DetailsThe key to the Teammachine 01 Amp is the integration of the TQHPR 40 motor, which offers 200-watts of power and 40Nm of torque. Not big numbers, but thats the point it just needs to provide enough assistance to help you up the hills. Custom motor mounts open like a clam shell, and the motor drops out.But BMC didnt simply take the stock HPR40 system and design around it. Instead, they determined that they could make the mount lighter with better cooling while also providing better access for service. So they created their own custom motor brackets, which allow it to easily drop out if you ever need to remove it. These ultra-light motor mounts, combined with a pro-level carbon build results in impressively low weights. The top model weighs a claimed 9.4kg (20.72lbs), positioning it among the lighter options in the e-road bike category.BMC also made modifications to the motor software to prevent a sharp drop-off in power when the bike switches from assistance to human power. Thats why I didnt even realize I was pedaling under my own power that first ride. You control the ebike through the buttons on the tops of the Shimano shifters. One button makes the assist level go up, the other makes it go down. Simple. The electrical system centers around TQs motor and battery technology, but with BMCs own Smartbox junction that enables Shimano shift levers to control motor assistance through hood buttons, while providing extra wiring for a front light, USB charger, etc (to be added by the consumer). Shimano drivetrains were chosen due to increased compatibility with TQ so that a single battery can power the drive unit, rear light, and drivetrain components. The bike includes a high-resolution OLED color display that connects via Bluetooth and ANT+, plus an integrated Stvzo certified rear light providing 20 lumens with a 180-degree beam pattern. The rear light turns on and off automatically, but you can also operate it manually.Charging port for the internal battery. This is also where you would plug in the range extender.Like other TQ motors, the PR 40 is gloriously quiet and provides pedal assistance up to 25 km/h. The bike includes a 290 Wh battery that can support an 80 kg rider for distances up to 130 km when used in Eco mode. BMC offers an optional 160 Wh TQ Range Extender to increase the total battery capacity for longer rides, heavier riders, or more demanding terrain.Even with the provision for the battery and motor, the 01 AMP features the same stiffness levels as BMCs flagship Teammachine SLR 01 and R 01 models, while incorporating the companys Tuned Compliance Concept for vertical flex that increases rider comfort and control. The Teammachine 01 AMP utilizes BMCs Pro Race Geometry, maintaining the same reach as WorldTour bikes, but adds 20mm of stack height because, well, youre not a pro. Aerodynamic features include the AeroShape seatpost, ICS Carbon Evo integrated cockpit, optimized tube profiles, and (included) AeroCore bottle cages compatible with range extenders. The bike accommodates 34mm tires, but sadly is equipped with only 28mm tires from the factory (more on that below).Models & PricingThree, Two, One (L to R)The Teammachine 01 AMP will be offered in three models, each with the same motor and premium 01 carbon fiber. The bike starts out with the Shimano 105 Di2-equipped Teammachine 01 AMP Three at $7,999, followed by the Ultegra Di2 Teammachine 01 AMP Two at $9,499, and the top-end Dura Ace Di2 Teammachine 01 AMP One at $13,499.First ImpressionsAs outlined above, my first impressions of the Teammachine 01 AMP were quite good. Until I got a front flat, anyway. Our demo bikes were set up with 28mm tires and tubes I had just assumed they would be set up tubeless like almost every bike these days. At least the scenery was nice for my walk of shame (I had forgotten my flat kit at home). As I was descending at the farthest point from the start, there was a stretch of road where the entire pavement from one side to the other was just destroyed. With nowhere to go, I tried to pick the best line. Im confident that with it set up tubeless, I would have been fine, but the tube pinched and that was that. The Teammachine 01 AMP does come with tubeless-ready wheels and 28mm tires, but honestly, I wouldnt even set them up. Id take off the 28mm tires immediately and replace them with at least 30mm, but probably 32 or 34mm tires. This bike is already so light that adding a few grams to the tires seems like it would be worth it for more comfort and better durability (I ride tires that big on my non-motorized road bikes!). It is an ebike, after all (though BMC calls it a road bike with assistance). The tire was repaired the next day, and I got it back out for another ride. Even though I knew that the bike had a 15.5mph cutoff for the assistance, I still didnt quite believe it. So this time I paid close attention to the screen on the top tube that shows you the amount of watts youre putting in vs. the motor. Top number shows machine watts, bottom number is human watts. I didnt get a picture, but the top number was often zero on the flats, and even some climbs.Sure enough, as I neared that 15mph point, the motor watts started dropping off, eventually replaced with 100% human watts. Without the motor providing assistance, the Teammachine 01 AMP feels like any other 20lb carbon road bike. It really is shocking how well this bike rides past the assistance cutoff. Whats interesting here is that with the 15.5mph cutoff, I was riding under my own power most of the time. It was only on the climbs where the motor kicked in some assistance. As a result, with three levels of assistance, I kept it mostly in the highest setting. As good as the Teammachine 01 AMP is, it wont be for everyone. Obviously, there is the price to begin with. The $8k entry point will put this bike out of the reach of many. But more importantly, this bike is not for the crowd that wants a high-powered e-bike to whisk them up the climbs with little effort on their part. This feels like a normal road bike, but one that you just happen to be having your best day on. And thats the point. You could show up to a group ride on this thing, and short of the screen on the top tube, no one would realize you were riding an ebike. For road bikers who need some assistance and want to feel like theyre riding a bike, not an ebike, the Teammachine 01 AMP is pretty incredible.
