If you didnt already know, Otso Cycles Fenrir Ti is a titanium bikepacking frame designed to handle extended backcountry adventures. Lets take a look.(Photos / Otso Cycles)Setup OptionsThe Fenrir Ti is a bike that can be built with drop bars to crush some gravel or set up with a flat mountain bike handlebar for a more rugged off-road experience. With drop bars, Ostso says the Fenrir Ti rides like an extra-capable gravel bike. Otso recommends a short 50mm stem for drop bars to accommodate the frames longer reach measurement. With a flat bar, Otso says it rides like a 90s XC bike. Its fun and lively, yet efficient and Capable with a capital C. Like the previous version, you can also pick your fork preference. It comes with a rigid carbon Lithic Mountain fork, but is compatible with suspension forks with up to 120mm of travel. The rigid fork gives you extra mounting options, with three-pack braze-ons on the fork legs.The Fenrir Tis frame can accommodate tires up to 29 x 2.6 or 27.5 x 2.8, and it includes multiple mounting points on the downtube, seat tube, and rear triangle for bags and racks to carry gear on multi-day adventures. Otso conveniently lists compatible racks and frame bag dimensions on its website, so you dont have to guess or figure it out yourself.One thing Otso claims makes the Fenrir Ti a great bikepacking rig is its stability when fully loaded with gear. Instability while fully laden is a common problem area for many bikes, but the forgiving Ti frame and bikepacking-oriented geometry are intended to keep that from being an issue.The Frame DetailsThe Fenrir Tis frame is built using 3Al/2.5V B338 grade 9 titanium, which brings the large-sized frame weight down to 1,923 grams, about 30% lighter than the steel Fenrir. At the same time, the titanium tubing provides a smooth ride, durability, and timeless elegance it really does look good.It features practical geometry with a 68 head tube angle and 75 seat tube angle. Other measurements worth noting are 445mm chainstays across all sizes, along with 68mm of bottom-bracket drop for stability. Reach measurements are on the conservative side, which is in line with the bikes intended use, with 428mm on size large. The Fenrir Ti is offered in four frame sizes, S to XL, and is claimed to fit riders between 53 and 66.UDH DropoutThe latest generation Fenrir Ti adds 3D-printed titanium UDH rear dropouts, making it compatible with all modern drivetrain systems. The previous Tuning Chip dropout wasnt compatible with UDH drivetrains, so this update opens up more component options. The move to a UDH dropout does away with the Otsos hallmark Tuning Chip, however, so the frame does not offer the rear center/wheelbase length adjustability of its predecessor. Fenrir Ti frames with the Tuning Chip are still available from Otso and are currently on sale.As mentioned previously, the Fenrir Ti comes with a carbon Lithic Mountain Fork that includes gear mounting points and an adjustable rake system. Its also compatible with internally routed dropper posts, if thats your preference. Today, we learned that Knolly Bikes is joining the growing list of brands moving into restructuring as it navigates some of the most challenging times for the cycling industry. Knollys Founder and CEO, Noel Buckley, tells us that their bank, RBC (the Royal Bank of Canada), has chosen to call in their account. This leaves Knolly and Buckley in the difficult position of evaluating its restructuring options in what is already a challenging financial landscape.Knolly is, and has always been, a smaller, shore-born core mountain bike brand, crafting a range of durable, hard-charging bikes and building a loyal following. Buckley tells us that he and his team have already been working hard to adapt to the current market. He says that by restructuring costs, tightening operations, and doing the difficult work of right-sizing the business, Knolly was making progress toward its goal and was hopeful for the future.Knolly is known for bikes like the Warden, which are designed to handle the BC Shore terrain in the brands backyard. Public consultation on the long-awaited place-making scheme for Clontarfs Vernon Avenue might happen in the summer of 2026.A draft design is currently being reviewed, and if that process is positive, the project will proceed to consultation, Dublin City Councils active travel office has told a local councillor. Cllr Donna Cooney (Green Party) said: Ive been working on the need for placemaking and creating a village centre for the Clontarf road end of Vernon Avenue for years. I was pleased when the NTA agreed that this plan could not only be a cycleway but needed a placemaking project.The Clontarf Residents Association and Clontarf Business Association have been advocating for a placemaking solution to address the safety issues, to connect Vernon Avenue better with the promenade, she said.Cllr Cooney added: We want to create a place where people feel safe and welcome. The Christmas tree lighting event, when the traffic was removed, showed the potential for this village area. A new restaurant opened up only last Friday, and there is already a buzz and vibrancy that needs to be enhanced with space for people.In a written response, an official from Dublin City Councils active travel office said: To update on the Vernon Avenue to Coast Active Travel Scheme, we are currently concluding the Preliminary Design Phase. We have issued the draft preliminary design and reports to the National Transport Authority (NTA) for review. Following feedback from the NTA, there may be some changes required to the design.Subject to NTA approval, we hope to proceed to the next phase, which will include Non-Statutory Public Consultation. We expect this Non-Statutory Public Consultation will be in Summer 2026, during which the Preliminary Design will be published on the DCC website, and the public will be invited to submit responses via an online questionnaire, by email or post, the official said.They added: As part of this consultation, we also intend to hold a public information event/s in Clontarf during which residents will be invited to view the Preliminary Designs, meet and ask questions of the design team, and provide feedback.
