Vast mountain plateaus, empty roads and long stretches where you see more wildlife than people. Every day feels exploratory. Quiet tracks, changing scenery and that rare feeling of being properly off the beaten path.Discover Authentic Montenegrin CultureRide through small mountain villages where time moves slowly, and experience the warmth of local hospitality and traditional foods like lamb, kjmak and burek, making every stop both welcoming and delicious. Wild untouched landscapesFrom glacial lakes and alpine plateaus to dense forests and remote valleys, Montenegro offers raw, dramatic scenery with almost no traffic. Tiny villages, shepherd trails and mountain roads built for necessity, not tourism. This is riding through places that feel unchanged for generations.KNOW BEFORE YOU GOAccommodationWell stay in a mixture of local hotels. You can choose between a private single room (limited availablity), shared twin (2 beds) or shared double (1 bed) room. All of our accommodation is hand picked and we have selected some really special places. Bike & Tyre ChoiceThe route is suitable for gravel bikes equipped with 40-45mm tyres suggested. We highly recommend you run tubeless to allow you to run lower tyre pressures to help reduce punctures and make the ride more comfortable. Expect a mix of smooth hardpack, rougher mountain gravel and occasional tarmac linking the best sections together.FoodMontenegros food scene is a delicious blend of Mediterranean freshness and hearty mountain flavours, with dishes featuring fresh seafood, lamb, olive oil and fragrant herbs. Whether its breakfast or a mid-ride snack, burek is never far away -flaky, warm and filled with meat, cheese or potatoes, its a staple found on almost every corner.weatherWe choose time of year for our trips to coincide with the best riding weather. Early October is one of the best times to ride in Montenegro. Days are typically mild and clear, with cooler mornings and comfortable riding temperatures. In the mountains the air is crisp, the colours are changing, and the roads are quiet as summer fades into autumn.TerrainThis is classic mountain gravel. Long steady climbs, flowing descents and rolling plateaus, with routes designed to maximise time off busy roads. The riding is challenging but rewarding, with gradients that invite a steady rhythm rather than sharp spikes. The RouteOur journey begins in the mountain town of Kolasin, spending two nights exploring the surrounding highlands. From there we ride through remote terrain to Mojkovac, before heading deeper into the mountains towards Zabljak. Each day links wild landscapes with quiet roads and gravel tracks, creating an unforgettable point-to-point journey that feels purposeful, adventurous and deeply immersive. This is Montenegro as gravel riders dream of it.7 UNMISSABLE HIGHLIGHTS IN MOROCCONUMBER OneTizi nTest - an Alpine climb in the Atlas MountainsAt the end of stage two - the Queen Stage, is the 27km climb of Tizi nTest, arguably the best climb in Morocco.Starting in the valley, this epic climb was built while the French were here in the 1920s and has the feel of an alpine climb with hairpins twisting up the mountain to the summit at over 2,000m. There are no steep sections (avg gradient is just 3%) but expect to spend 1.5 to 2.5hrs getting up to the summit, allowing plenty of time to enjoy the stunning views.NUMBER TWOThe Ancient City of TaroudantStage three finishes in Taroudant after two days in the remote Atlas Mountains. We stay in a delightful hotel in town and after some time to freshen up, we head into the old town and explore the market with a local guide before a delicious dinner.number threeRemote riding in rural MoroccoStraight from arrival, the ride takes us into remote gravel roads to discover real, rural Moroccan life. The riding is a mix of mostly gentle climbing and flat sections with lots of opportunity to sit in & ride with mates new and old.Number FourDelightful local foodThis is a great country for food with excellent couscous, bbq and lots & lots of tagines!Breakfasts are at the hotel with lots of tasty bread & eggs. Lunch is on the road mostly with picnics by the trails and dinner is generally at our accommodation.Number fiveSun, sand & surf in TaghazoutThe ride finishes on the beautiful sandy beaches of Taghazout, famous around the world for its surf breaks. After the final ride, we head straight into the ocean for a swim before watching the sunset. On the final morning, before getting transfers back to Agadir, we have a surf lesson in the smaller waves.Number sixQuiet villages & Berber cultureAlong the route we pass many small, traditional Berber villages that rarely see tourists.Particularly on stage three, we ride through villages that were devastated by the earthquake in 2023 and through the ride we see how people live in the mountains, on the plains and by the coast.Number sevenTea!A huge part of the riding ritual in Morocco is to drink tea before, during and after each stage. The tea here is minty and incredibly sweet, you don't even want to know how much sugar goes into each small cup. But, nothing quite hits like a local cuppa and this is an essential part of breakfast & warming up when the sun sets and we are high in the mountains.STAGE DETAILSSTAGE ONE: GRANADA TO GUADIXRoute Summary:Embark on an unforgettable gravel bike adventure from Granada to Guadix, weaving through the picturesque landscapes of southern Spain. Garmin Connect is breaking smartwatch connections heres how to fix it
If youve been struggling to connect your Garmin smartwatch to the Garmin Connect app, youre not alone. The latest software update to Garmin Connect has disconnected many users smartwatches from the app and left them unable to sync their activities and data. Users began reporting the issue last week following the release of the 5.21 updates. The problems seem to affect iOS users only, while Android users can use Connect as normal. Garmin said it is aware of the issue with Garmin Connect for some iOS users, and that the issue was resolved with the later 5.21.1 update. But the GPS giant provided three steps to follow if your device is still disconnected from its health and fitness app. How to reconnect your Garmin device with your phone Garmin advised that you should first remove your device from your iPhone or iPads Bluetooth settings. In your Bluetooth settings, you must locate your Garmin device and then select 'Forget This Device', before toggling Bluetooth on and off and then powering off your iOS device and Garmin. You should then put your Garmin device into pairing mode via its settings before adding the device to the Garmin Connect App. Garmin said that if you are still unable to pair your devices you should: Uninstall all Garmin apps on your phone, such as Garmin Connect, Garmin Messenger and Garmin Connect IQ Restart the Phone Restart the Garmin device Confirm your iPhone software is up to date Reinstall only the Garmin Connect App Attempt the pairing process again Problems are persisting for some users Despite Garmins advice on how to re-pair your watch and iOS device, some users said in the Garmin forum that they were unable to establish a connection again. Garmin followed up with a further update on 2 February to address the issue for those who were unable to re-pair their devices. Users continued to express their frustration on the Garmin forum. One said their device has repeatedly disconnected since the issue started. At this stage Im considering switching to a different brand, they wrote. Another user described the issue as Extremely frustrating when other users have been able to fix following the suggested steps. Have you had an issue trying to re-pair your Garmin device? Is the issue persisting? Let us know in the comments.

    Now Thats The Spirit!
Uh-oh, trouble with the four-wheeled gravel recumbent!Fortunately Im more than capable of fixing the issue myselfjust as long as the issue is a loose gas cap.Otherwise, if that doesnt work, I figure Ill just pour some Dumonde on it. Scoff if you will, but this would not be the first time Ive repaired THE CAR THAT I OWN with Dumonde. Awhile back the hood latch wasnt catching so I put some liquid grease on it:Problem solved. Maybe I should run a bottle through the gas tank.Speaking of Dumonde, so far the Bike Snob NYC Spirit Of Gravel Lube-tastic Whatever-I-Called-It Contest is running as smoothly ashmmm, I cant think of anything that runs really smoothly, no matter how hard I try.Oh, well. And special thanks to the commenter who re-did the log in an R. Crumb style, by the way!I wondered briefly if it was AI but we all know it cant do bicycle drivetrains. As for the submissions, so far they are quite compelling indeed. In fact we may have this whole Spirit of Gravel thing completely figured out already, which is going to save me a lot of work:To me, the Spirit of Gravel is everything, everywhere, all at once. As we all hurtle through space on this giant rock, what is gravel other than crumbs that have chipped off of our giant rock? The tiniest of crumbs are microscopic dust, which we even inhale into our very lungs! But anyway, I could really use that lube to quiet down my squeaky chain so I dont have to drown it out with these ridiculous diatribes, thanks.See that? Were all made of gravel! Hows that for profound? Also, heres some verse thats better than anything youll find in The New Yorker, and yet here it is on a lousy bike blog:Talk about casting pearls before swine! Unfortunately, I may have to declare it ineligible, since the bard did not use the correct email subject line.Hey, sorry, I dont make the rules.**[Actually, I do make the rules. And don t you forget it.]And finally, heres a contestant who has boldly chosen the highly irreverent Insult the judges bicycle approach:=====================================================================Get a Rivendell already! Not just any Rivendell like your wimpy tubeA. HOMER HILSEN, the most versatile, useful road bike we make or can even imagine, but rather a Rivendell like mine, aSAM HILLBORNE, FOR ALL ROADS paved, dirt, orgravel; and the kinds of fire trails a Conestoga wagon could negotiateIt would be even better, if like mine the frame was madeby Waterford and it had double top tubes.====================================================================Hey, I can handle insults, but excerpting the A. Homer Hilsen website copy and not mentioning this quote is something I dont know if I can forgive:Anyway, the contest remains open, so youve still got time to submit. Or, you know, just buy yourself a bottle of chain lube and spare yourself the trouble. I dont know how much they sell it for but it couldnt be that much, could it?Speaking of the Spirit of Gravel, I am now living in an arctic wasteland. This means any gravel is currently beneath at least a foot of snow. Therefore, I am unable to become one with it by putting my tires directly upon it, and instead make do with a frigid Gravel of the Mind:Checking the forecast, theres no sign of the deep freeze ending anytime soon, either, and if you listen closely you can even hear the crackling of the ice floes upon the mighty Hudson:And yet still I ride, because its either that or face real life:And so I layer up and take to the roads:Despite the cold, any spot that sees enough sun is a slushy messespecially where people have flung snow into the roadway while digging out their carswhich means full fenders are a necessity:This makes bike choice simple, because I have one (1) Official Designated Full Fender Bike, and it is the cruelly maligned yet wonderfully versatile A. Homer Hilsen, seen here in all its mac-and-cheese glory:We may not have gravel, but we do have road salt:At this point Ill take what I can get.
