- BIKERUMOR.COMElite Rivo Just In: Get Fit With The Trainers Ridden by the Most Pro Cycling TeamsDid you ever notice that more pros warm up and get fit on Elite trainers than any other brand? According to Elite, 13 WorldTour teams use their indoor trainers to dial in their fitness, as do more than half of the pro teams worldwide. There must be something to that, right? Ive ridden an Elite Suito smart trainer off and on for more than six years, whenever I couldnt muster up the courage to ride outside in freezing rain. So when I saw they had an updated version, now called the Rivo, that was even better and almost 20% cheaper than the Suito, I figured it was time ride some more indoors.More pro cyclists train on Elite than any other smart trainer(Photo by Mirror Media/Elite)Elite just announced their 2026 pro cycling team partnership lineup, and its more expansive than ever. Sure, Tadej Pogaar and his UAE team stay fit and warm up for racing with the Elite Justo2 trainer. But they arent the only ones who benefit from the reliability of consistent, controlled efforts for more targeted warm-ups, training, and post-race recovery rides thanks to the <1% power variance of Elites top interactive trainers.(Photo by Thomas Maheux/Elite)Another dozen WorldTour teams, including both mens and womens teams, use Elites smart trainers to prep for racing, then often use Elite bottles & cages to stay hydrated during their races. That includes Mathieu van der Poel and his AlpecinPremier Tech team, Elisa Longo Borghini and her UAE Team ADQ squad, Puck Pieterse and FenixPremier Tech, plus Zoe Bckstedt and Canyon//SRAM, among many others.Elite Rivo entry-level premium interactive smart indoor trainer(Photos/Cory Benson)The new Rivo is Elites most affordable of their fully interactive direct-drive indoor trainers. It features much of the same quiet and compact smart tech as their top-tier Justo 2 & Avanti, just simplified to using calculated power instead of a direct power meter to still ensure +/-2.5% power accuracy, while at the same time, making it much more affordable. In fact, its less than half the price of the Justo 2 that most of the pros use. But still plenty accurate for most cyclists looking to train in a more repeatable environment indoors.Whats new in Rivo vs. the Suito?new Rivo (left) vs. old Suito (right)The biggest difference you can see is that the Rivo design is more compact. And while it uses the same 3.5kg flywheel as before, it is more than 30% lighter than the Suito, now down to just 10kg, making it even more portable. Overall, the new form factor is very similar to the old Suito, with two fold-out legs that provide stability and a single carry handle to move it around. But folded in, its a little bit smaller, now just 52x16cm x 49cm tall, even easier to keep out of the way when its not indoor training season. But the important upgrades are hidden insideThe new Rivo is now able to simulate up to an 18% climb, a twenty percent improvement over the Suito. Its also now rated for 920W max power at 20kph, or 2000W max at 40kph a 25% boost at the lower speeds most of us ride on the trainer. The Rivo also now adds 2.4GHz WiFi connectivity, which allows for automatic firmware updates. Plus Zwifts own Bluetooth protocol in addition to the standard ones, to allow for smooth virtual shifting with their Cog & Clicks.Plus, the Rivo adds a new Zwift-ready version for riding, straight out of the box with virtual shifting. You can now buy it prefitted with the latest Zwift Cog and their new Click v2 game controllers for quieter running, easier setup, and less maintenance, thats especially useful if you train in Zwift on more than one bike.Tech detailscompact, direct-drive transmission smart indoor trainer2.5% accuracy with calculated power18% max simulated slopemax power: 920 Watt (20km/h) 2000 Watt (40km/h)3.5kg belt-driven flywheeldual channel Bluetooth bridge function (Zwift Protocol, FTMS, Power, Speed & Cadence) 2.4GHz WiFi Direct Connect, with automatic firmware updates over WiFican be used at 1-16 resistance levels even without being plugged-in for outdoor warm-up or cool-down sessionsShimano HG freehub, QR axle & 12x142mm thru-axle standard. - IRISHCYCLE.COMDublins MetroLink myths, misinformation, and misdirection: Capacity is keyComment & Analysis: MetroLink is approaching the stage where transport agencies issue a call for companies to bid to construct and operate the line, so its worth spending time debunking the many myths, misinformation, and misdirection surrounding the project. Its best to address issues in separate articles, and the first of these today examines passenger capacity. For those not following the MetroLink saga to date: The route is a proposed near-19km high-capacity, high-frequency railway with 16 stations between Estuary, north of Swords town, to Charlemont, at the northern tip of Ranelagh south of the city centre. The project has full planning permission. Passenger-carrying capacity isnt generally a myth or source of misinformation in itself. But the level of capacity is widely misunderstood, to the point that it fuels many misconceptions about the project. Some of which will be covered separately in other articles, but capacity is such a key point, lets focus on that here.Capacity is the strongest reason to invest in railway lines, and especially urban rail. The achievable level depends on several design and operational factors, including platform length, degree of segregation, train width, train lengths, train frequency, and the speed of acceleration and deceleration.MetroLink is 100% grade-separated from all traffic, which means there are no level crossings. Its also automated (driveless), which means more trains can run because of factors such as consistentmovement, and it features passenger-screen doors that increase safety and reduce delays. While MetroNorth platforms will be about 10 metres longer than the longest Luas trams, each train will also gain space by being wider than the trams. These features combined allow MetroLink to carry up to 20,000 passengers per hour in each direction.Thats compared to 6,400 vehicles per hour per direction on the M50, with a low occupancy rate. An estimated 87% of vehicles during the morning peak rush hour are single-occupancy, so even if most of the remainder are carrying 3-4 people, the capacity on the M50 is still much lower.IMAGES: Edmonton Transit Service. So, when anyone says MetroLink could be replaced by Luas, a spur of the Dart line to the airport/Swords, or even buses, do not believe them. For capacity reasons alone, it is just not true.0 Yorumlar 0 hisse senetleri 576 Views

- BIKERUMOR.COMOakleys 50th Anniversary Ellipse Glasses are Characteristically Bold and Extra GoldBack in June, we reported on Oakleys introduction of the Ellipse sunglasses, a uniquely styled pair of shades paying homage to the brands 50th Anniversary. Since then, the Big O has continued to celebrate 50 years of pushing the boundaries of style and performance in sport and casual eyewear. Most recently, this included the launch of the 50th Anniversary Collection, featuring the Ellipse sunglasses and several different goggles dressed up for Oakleys golden anniversary. My Ellipse glasses came in a special box with a set of gold BMX grips, but the standard issue just comes with a hard case and a bag. In its history, Oakley has never really shied away from making bold style choices. As a child of the 80s and 90s, I remember early models of Oakley Blades that initially seemed so outlandish but ultimately became the norm. In my later teens, I saved up to buy some Oakley Eye Jackets that I just had to have because they were so cool, but in retrospect, looked kinda ridiculous. Take a look through Oakleys archive of sunglasses, and theres no shortage of wild designs, some of which flopped, and others that arguably helped define sunglass style over the past few decades.I would argue Oakleys influence has been most apparent in the sport and performance market. While many of Oakleys latest creations might still be considered absurd Kato anyone? I think its fair to say that weve grown more accustomed to the bold designs. I definitely have anyway. In fact, the new Vanguard Meta AI sunglasses I have looked a little wild to me at first, but they seem normal now.Shaped like an Ellipse, alright. And with 90s fashion making a comeback I wish I had saved my original JNCO jeans Oakley is even bringing back some of its iconic styles, like the aforementioned Eye Jackets. Okay, so the new Eye Jacket Redux isnt an exact copy of the glasses from 1994, but theyre pretty darn close. And there are several other new models in the lineup that bear a strong resemblance to shades from 30 years ago.So, while they have quite an out-of-the-box design, the Oakley Ellipse glasses dont surprise me that much. For 50 years, Oakley has always been about disruptive innovation, and Id say the Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Ellipse glasses certainly exemplify that. Sure, their shape mirrors that of the brands iconic Ellipse symbol, but they also blend elements of Oakleys 90s styles with todays tech into a bold set of shades thats going to get some attention, for better or worse.Elliptical shape, gold fleck frame, and Prizm 24K gold lenses. Per Oakley: Equal parts futuristic, contemporary, and retro, Oakley Ellipse celebrates several design chapters from Oakleys heritage into one frame. From its circular shape to its 90s-inspired curved details, Ellipse is an ode to the Oakley ellipse logo. To celebrate 50 years of Oakley, this Limited Edition Ellipse is powered by a Midas Gold O-Matter frame and 24k Prizm Technology lenses that provide the detail. The Limited Edition Ellipse 50th Anniversary comes in a custom microbag and box.Despite their polarizing looks, the Ellipse glasses actually work quite well on the bike.Wearing the Oakley EllipseIve had the Ellipse sunglasses for a few weeks, and Ill admit that I havent worn them all that much. But, in my limited experience with them, Ive found them to be quite comfortable and impressively stable on the face. The Prizm 24K lens has a warm bronze base tint, excellent optical clarity, and 11% VLT that works great in bright light conditions. And you definitely cant see my eyes through that reflective lens. Eat your heart out, Frozone.Given the elliptical shape that tapers toward the temples, Im surprised by how little of the frame I can see in the periphery of my field of view. And, on a few rides around town, I found they blocked the wind from my eyes very effectively. Honestly, they function and feel so normal that its easy to forget that youre wearing glasses that look like something Frozone might wear (per a readers comment).Like most people, I was and remain somewhat skeptical of the style. At the same time, I have to admit that theyve grown on me surprisingly quickly. Im not saying I love the way they look, but they look better than I expected, and they honestly dont look that much more absurd when paired with a bike helmet than some other cycling sunglasses out there. Preferences vary, of course, as Ive read quite a few comments online from people who are pretty hyped on the style. To each their own. Still, I think you either need to take yourself too seriously or not seriously at all to rock the Ellipse glasses. Will they catch on? That remains to be seen. I imagine if an NFL star like Patrick Mahomes starts wearing them, or maybe a World Tour road bike team races them to a Grand Tour victory, then maybe You know Goldmember would be down, simply because he loves gold. But, at a retail price of $380, the gold 50th Anniversary edition doesnt come cheap, and the standard issue (available in numerous color options) isnt much less at $338-348. That said, I wouldnt be too surprised to see these on sale at some point soon, either.Oakley has 50th Anniversary Goggles, TooThe 50th Anniversary Flow Scape L Snow goggles come with a spare Prizm lens and cost the same as the standard version. If youre into Oakley, gold, and snow sports, then the 50th Anniversary goggles are worth a look. The Flow Scape L and the Flight Deck Pro L are both being offered in a 50th Anniversary edition that includes Prizm 24K Iridium lenses and a 50th Anniversary Strap. Both come with a second Prizm lens, and they are priced at $406 for the Flow Scape L and $376 for the Flight Deck Pro L, the same as the standard versions. Moto and MTB riders can also pick up the 50th Anniversary Airbrake goggles for $190.You can check out the Ellipse sunglasses and the rest of the 50th Anniversary lineup on the Oakley website.oakley.comThe post Oakleys 50th Anniversary Ellipse Glasses are Characteristically Bold and Extra Gold appeared first on Bikerumor.0 Yorumlar 0 hisse senetleri 530 Views
