The 9 most anticipated head-to-heads to look forward to in 2026
CyclistThe 9 most anticipated head-to-heads to look forward to in 2026Now that the season is upon us, its time to get your calendar ready to book your spot on the sofa for the years biggest races. After combing through the schedules of pro cyclings top riders, Robyn picks out where the sports top names will be going head to head in clashes that are not to be missed.Omloop Nieuwsblad: Mathieu van der Poel vs Wout van Aert?Gaetan Flamme/SportPic_AgencyDutch dynamite Mathieu van der Poel typically starts his road campaign later than most in March to rest up after the cyclocross season. He is rumoured to be making his debut at Omloop Nieuwsblad in 2026, however, which would have him lining up earlier than usual on Saturday 28th February.Wout van Aert is currently set to make his road season opener at the same time. A crash at Exact Cross Mol saw him sustain a fractured ankle in January, but his recovery looks to be going well as he has already returned to the bike and recently logged a six-hour training ride to build up to the Classics.Tour of Flanders: Lotte Kopecky vs Pauline Ferrand-PrvotERIC LALMAND/Belga/AFP via Getty ImagesPauline Ferrand-Prvot will not defend her title at Paris-Roubaix this year, instead focussing her Classics campaign on the hills at Strade Bianche, the Tour of Flanders and Lige-Bastogne-Lige. Last season she finished third at Strade Bianche, then second to Lotte Kopecky in Flanders and its the Belgian who will likely be her biggest challenger in the Ronde this year.Kopecky had an uncharacteristically quiet year in 2025 with just three victories, Flanders being the high point of her injury-hit season. Shes looking to change that in 2026, ignoring the call of a potential GC bid at the Tour to prioritise the Classics. Flanders hilly parcours is always an area where she thrives, winning three of the last four editions, so it wont be easy to beat her. Paris-Roubaix saw an electric showdown last year between three-time winner Van der Poel and debutant Tadej Pogaar. The race was eventually sealed after Pogaar came into a corner too hot and crashed, and he will be back for revenge on Sunday 12th April. Well see if these two heavyweights will be joined by any other protagonists its unlikely.Giro dItalia: Jonas Vingegaard vs Joo AlmeidaTim de Waele/Getty ImagesJonas Vingegaard is taking a different line of preparation for the Tour de France this year, heading to the Giro dItalia to try his hand at adding his name to a special club. If he wins, the Dane will join the ranks of only a few riders that have won all three Grand Tours.Hell face a strong challenge from UAE Team Emirates XRG though, with Joo Almeida taking sole leadership in both the Giro and Vuelta this year. Hell want to take the next step to the top spot after a third place at the Giro in 2023 and second at the Vuelta to Vingegaard in 2025.Tour de France: Tadej Pogaar vs Jonas VingegaardA.S.O./ Tony EsnaultPogaar and Vingegaard will once again battle for the maillot jaune in July. Pogaar has won four Tour titles and another would see him equal the record for most wins alongside Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurin. Pogaar beat Primo Rogli in 2020 before getting the better of Vingegaard in 2021, 2024 and 2025.Vingegaard came out on top in 2022 and 2023, on the other hand, so he knows its not impossible to crack his Slovenian foe, but he has been on the back foot in recent years, unable to match Pogaar in the big moments. Pivoting to Italy instead of shorter stage races like the Volta ao Algarve, Paris-Nice and Critrium du Dauphin might just be the something different he needs in 2026.Tour de France Femmes: Pauline Ferrand-Prvot vs Demi VolleringA.S.O./Pauline BalletFerrand-Prvot is aiming to defend her title at the Tour de France Femmes. Last season she was able to shrug off the peloton in the final two days in the mountains with Demi Vollering and Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney completing the podium, but the pair were nowhere near the Frenchwoman on the climbs. This will be Vollerings second year with FDJ United-Suez and the squad is aiming to help her to her second maillot jaune after victory in 2023. Niewiadoma-Phinney reigned victorious in 2024 for Canyon-SRAM-Zondacrypto, and will be trying her best to repeat that feat in 2026.No one has won the Tour de France Femmes twice. Could 2026 be the year of the races first repeat victor?Vuelta a Espaa: Primo Rogli vs Joo AlmeidaUnipublic / CxclingPrimo Rogli is in the final year of his contract with Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe. Despite future GC stars coming to the fore such as Florian Lipowitz and Giulio Pellizzari as well as big new signing Remco Evenepoel, its hard to see past Rogli for the Vuelta. Already boasting four titles here, should he achieve the feat this season, the Slovenian will make history as the man to have won the race the most.Almeida has been granted leadership here for UAE Team Emirates XRG after finishing second to Vingegaard in 2025 his best result in a Grand Tour so far. Strong in the mountains and the ITT, itll be an exciting watch to see where the maillot rojo ends up. And who knows which other riders may be looking to a last gasp result late in the season.Il Lombardia: Tadej Pogaar vs the pelotonDario Belingheri/Getty ImagesIl Lombardia is nine months away but its impossible to look past Pogaar. The World Champion has perfected the art of this Monument, winning for the past five years to put him alongside Fausto Coppi in the record books with most victories. For anyone else to win, theyll have to team up and throw everything theyve got.Giro dItalia Women: TBDLuc Claessen via Getty ImagesMore information on GC contenders will come as schedules are announced, but the Giro dItalia Women threw up an almighty battle between Elisa Longo Borghini and Marlen Reusser last season as Sarah Gigante shone in the mountains. Only Longo Borghini is pencilled in so far, but the race is now a couple of weeks further away from the Tour de France Femmes and includes the mighty Colle delle Finestre, so expect a few more big names than usual on the start line. The post The 9 most anticipated head-to-heads to look forward to in 2026 appeared first on Cyclist.

Revel Bikes Announces Relocation of U.S. HQ to Golden, Colorado
Today, Revel announced that it is relocating its U.S. headquarters to a new home at the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, CO. Revel Bikes was founded in 2018 in the town of Carbondale, CO, and as the brand grew, it opened an additional facility in Taichung, Taiwan. While Revel has had its share of ups and downs recently, the brand has remained a fixture in the mountain town of Carbondale, where owner Adam Miller founded the company 8 years ago.Carbondale will always be home to us and has made us who we are today. But this move allows us to better serve our customers and build a long-standing brand in the cycling industry. Adam Miller Owner/Founder of Revel BikesWith the brands founder, Adam Miller, back at the helm as owner after some financial troubles last year, this relocation appears to be a major part of the brands long-term growth strategy. Compared to the lovely, but smaller mountain town of Carbondale, Goldens location should simplify and streamline things like shipping, logistics, and even trips to the airport for Revel Bikes.Revels founder and owner, Adam Miller.Additionally, according to the press release, Goldens proximity to Denver and Boulder will allow Revel to better grow their business in a sustainable way. It will also position them closer to Colorados growing network of component suppliers, customers, and other outdoor brands.Indeed, Golden is a hotbed of the cycling industry in Colorado and already home to numerous brands, including Yeti Cycles, Commencal USA, Feedback Sports, and others. Plus, Revel says, The relocation also opens doors to new career opportunities as the company expands its operations and customer service teams, and that they will be adding to their team with local hires and will be fully operational in Golden by March 15th.A quick reminder that you can enter to win this beautiful Revel Rascal SL by donating to LoveYourBrains fundraiser until January 30th.Revel says their new showroom in Golden, CO, will include a full demo center and test fleet so riders can try before they buy. The new showroom facility is scheduled to open by April 1st.revelbikes.comThe post Revel Bikes Announces Relocation of U.S. HQ to Golden, Colorado appeared first on Bikerumor.

The Deva RD is the Lightest and Most Aerodynamic Wheelset Miche has Made
Miche easily falls into the category of historical cycling brands. The Italian company, founded over 100 years ago, first manufactured both motorcycles and bicycles. It later transitioned to bicycle components, becoming one of the first companies to produce a quick-release wheel. In recent years, Miche has focused heavily on wheel manufacturing, especially in the aerodynamic/carbon corner of the market. And despite all the lightweight and aero wheels theyve released, Miche is still pushing the boundaries of development. To that point, the new Deva RD is the brands lightest and most aerodynamic wheelset to date.Miche Deva RD Areo RimsMiches goal in designing the Deva RD wheelset was to deliver on three fronts. First, they wanted to create a rim profile with the highest aerodynamic performance possible. This, of course, needed to be balanced with the other two goals Miche had with the Deva RD wheels: stiffness and weight.Testing was spread across four preliminary designs, ultimately resulting in two different NACA profiles being tested. Two spoke cross-sections were also tested, and eventually two complete rim prototypes (made from aluminum) were tested to test rim/tire integration and aero performance. In the end, Miche collected data over a full 24 hours of wind tunnel testing. The result is a rim with a T700/T800/T1000 carbon structure and a 23mm internal width. Miche settled on differentiated-profile configurations for the Deva RD and two rim-depth options.Option one is a 52mm-deep rim with a 33mm (outer width) front rim and a 31mm rear rim. Option two increases the rim depth to 62mm, with a 31mm front rim paired with a 30mm rear rim.Miche claims that a larger rim profile up front reduces airflow resistance, enhancing performance in real-world riding conditions. The narrower rear rim strikes a balance between the aero performance Miche seeks and weight savings. And saving weight is exactly what they achieved. The Deva RD 52 tips the scales at 1305g, while the deeper Deva RD 62 wheels add 70g.Centered Around PerformanceAt the center of the Deva RD wheels are the Deva RD hubs. Using incredibly precise CNC machines, Miche cuts the hubs from solid Ergal 7075 T6 billet. Flange geometry on the front wheel increases the camber angle, improving steering and handling by increasing lateral stiffness. Using a combination of Ergal and titanium for the pawls balances weight and strength on the rear wheel. The Deva RD hub uses a Shimano HG freehub body and center-lock brake mounts. SRAM XDR and Campagnolo N3W freehubs are also available.Miche also went with carbon fiber for spokesmarking the first time the brand has done so. The Vonoa spokes are built with a 4x1mm cross-section, and attach to the rim with hidden, integrated nipples. Miche also mentions their Aeroblade technology stating, 3D-printed in carbon-filled resin, [it] stabilises spoke alignment and protects the system from contaminants. If its the same system as their Kleos wheels, this seems to be an aerodynamic cover at the hub that covers the spoke heads. Each Deva RD wheel uses 21 spokes, down from the typical 24 on other Miche wheels. This reduction is partially due to the rigidity of the carbon spokes. It is also due to the asymmetrical lacing pattern, with 14 drive-side spokes and 7 non-drive-side spokes. Miche claims this design provides the combination of control, responsiveness, and weight savings they desired in the Deva RD wheelsets. If carbon spokes werent enough, Miche also partnered with CeramicSpeed, using double-sealed ceramic bearings in the hub.Deva RD DetailsThe Deva RD 5252mm x 33mm front52mm x 31mm rearDeva RD hub21 Aeroblade carbon spokesTire compatibility 28-38mm1305gPrice starts at 3,200 (~$3733.56)The Deva RD 6262mm x 31mm front62mm x 30mm rearDeva RD hub21 Aeroblade carbon spokesTire compatibility 28-38mm1375gPrice starts at 3,200 (~$3733.56)See all the details at miche.it.The post The Deva RD is the Lightest and Most Aerodynamic Wheelset Miche has Made appeared first on Bikerumor.

New Jersey Law Now Requires License, Registration, and Insurance for E-Bikes
On Monday, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed a new bill into state law that sets a precedent for e-bikes in the state. New Jerseys most recent bill requires e-bike riders to have a license, register their e-bike, and insure it.You can read the bill in its entirety here. And this applies to all e-bikes in the state.Where Does This Stem From?(Photos / Rad Power Bikes)Over the last handful of years, e-bikes have been much more prominent in local and even national news. But, generally not for good reasons.Story after story of e-bike-involved incidents were reported regularly, many of them involving teens and younger people. The circumstances around these incidents were sometimes vague, but often involved collisions with other pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. In the most unfortunate cases, those involved in the accident lost their lives. The bill was inspired in part by the recent death of a 13-year-old involved in a crash on an e-bike.E-Bike Classification and ConfusionBosch Performance Line CXWhile the details in some of the news stories arent exactly clear, opponents of the bill often point to the e-bikes involved in the incidents. They argue that many of the electric bikes involved are not bikes at all. Rather, they are electric motorcycles, or e-motos.While definitions can vary from state to state, the United States has adopted the 3-class system for e-bikes.Class 1: pedal assist only up to 20MPHClass 2: pedal assist and throttle up to 20MPHClass 3: pedal assist only up to 28MPHThis is the e-bike classification system here in the States. We often hear of different trail systems opening to class 1 e-bikes, or see different e-bikes being used to commute back and forth to work. However, what often gets left out of the classification system is the limitation on power output. Across all three e-bike classes, power output limits are in place. Class 1, 2, and 3 e-bikes output no more than 750 watts. This is an important distinction to differentiate between e-bikes and e-motos.Many of the e-bikes involved in these tragic incidents across the country far exceed the 750W limit. Often, the max power output of these can reach 4,000W or more. This is significantly more powerful than the class 1 e-bike you may roll your eyes at on your local trails.HPR 40 equipped E-Noahcred: SegwayMany argue that electric bikes exceeding the designated 750W arent e-bikes at all, labeling them as e-motos. However, the term e-bike is still used as a catchall for these machines, lumping bikes like a Ridley E-Noah with 200W of power in with a Segway Xyber with 6,000W of power. And the claim is that this is intentional. Parents will be much more hesitant to buy an e-moto for their 14-year-old than an e-bike. While brands like Segway have website copy stating that the Xyber is for off-road use, finding it requires website visitors to click the E-Bike tab at the top of the screen. Plus, all the imagery and branding show the e-moto being ridden on pavement. And it is these e-motos that we are seeing involved in many accidents across the country. Well, probably not the $3,000 Segway Xyber, but rather the $600 Amazon special.A New Law in New Jersey(Photos/Canyon)So, what is what? With everything lumped together, New Jersey is keeping it that way under its new law.To operate a bicycle with electric assist, you must now register and insure the bike in the state of New Jersey. This means the 6,000W Segway, as well as the 200W Ridley. Also, those operating an e-bike must have a license. If you are age 15 or 16, you can get a motorized bicycle license from the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. If you are 17 or over, a regular drivers license will suffice. For those under 15, sorry, no e-bikes for you.The new bill also pauses online purchases for the next year.It appears that New Jersey residents will have some time to comply with the new law. Some reports said six months, while others said a whole year. It is also unclear if this requirement applies to class 1 e-bikes ridden off-road or at an e-bike legal trail system. Many fear this is just the beginning, with other states potentially accepting similar legislation. Bicycle advocacy groups are already pushing for amendments to the New Jersey law, attempting to better distinguish between e-bike and e-moto.The post New Jersey Law Now Requires License, Registration, and Insurance for E-Bikes appeared first on Bikerumor.
