In The Drops: Natty Ortlieb luggage, Kostme winter kit, Krcher power washer, Tailfin strap-on and pubs on The Fence
CyclistIn The Drops: Natty Ortlieb luggage, Kostme winter kit, Krcher power washer, Tailfin strap-on and pubs on The FenceJanuary: the regrettable necessity of the Gregorian calendar thats comparable only to miserable things like defeat and failure. That said, sporting defeat indeed any kind of defeat gives meaning and texture to victory and triumph. Just ask Ineos (once they start winning again). January, too, gives meaning to the rest of the year. Its the rough to Julys smooth; the dark to springs light; the opening bars of an interminable symphony that ends at Christmas. Its a slog, but an ultimately rewarding one.If you can face it, and youre well-equipped, January can be a great time for actual outdoor riding. There are fewer people out (including cars) and your local lanes and routes can feel like theyre reserved solely for you. Just make sure you throw on a clip-on mudguard at the very least. Wet arses are bad all year round. Or if thats not for you, check out our review of the TrainingPeaks Virtual training app.Ewan Wilson has taken evasive action to escape the wetness, hopping off to his annual Calpe training camp to throw his hat into the Coll de Rates KOM discussion. But hes also left us with the fruits of his deep dive into the pro cycling crystal ball, and what could be in store for the next transfer window as well as the full schedules for the big hitters in mens cycling. Robyn Davidson has run the rule over the fastest riders in womens sprinting right now and highlighted the transfers that we should keep an eye on.Our reviews are coming through as thick and fast as a Faithful on an aero bike. My review of Castellis updated Perfetto RoS 3 Aircore jerket is live, as is James Spenders Cervlo S5 write-up. Weve also covered the Sonder Camino AL gravel bike and a raft of frame bags, starting with the Tailfin Half Frame bag.Theres loads more to check out on the site, but Ill get into some kit bits now. Adieu sozmas!Ortlieb Duffle Bag and Saddle BagExpert luggage maker Ortlieb knows whats up when it comes to hauling cargo around, on or off the bike. The brand has launched a new range of bags that adds both colour and high performance to its offering. The Duffle Lite is a waterproof holdall that doubles as a backpack, complete with different types of padded straps. Its available in both 40 and 60-litre sizes but has additional daisy chain loops running along its edges, so you can lash extra bits of kit to your side if you dont mind it being exposed to the elements. Sorry sliders: its an alfresco berth for you.Ortlieb has used a tear-resistant PS33 fabric to make the bag as durable as possible, meaning its good for commuting or more ambitious adventures. There is an external zipped pocket for small volume valuables, or, if youd rather keep things under lock and key, the main compartment can be padlocked.More cycling-specific is the Micro-bag: a lightweight saddle bag that has a strong, screw-in fixing. Coming in either a 0.5 or 0.8L volume, the waterproof bag mounts to any saddle rail but can be quickly accessed and removed without detaching the entire structure. There are reflective panels to improve visibility on the road, though its worth mentioning that the bag cant be used with carbon saddles. The bags come in these very natty pink and blue combos, so you should be easy to see day or night.Tailfin HydroMountWant to load up your bike but cant find one with enough integrated bottle bosses and mounts? Well, Tailfin thinks it has the answer. Launched earlier this month, the HydroMount is the strap-on youve been waiting for.The hallmark Tailfin hooked straps slide through the body of the contoured HydroMount, which can then be fastened to your chosen bit of tubing. The Mount has threaded bottle cage fixings so you can screw whatever you like in there. Most common will be the 64mm bottle cage but its not limited to bidons. The two-strap version can hold a 1kg load, or the three-strap version holds 1.5kg. This opens the door to transporting a stove or other handy bike packing kit, so long as it fits inside the straps and doesnt get in the way of your moving legs.Buy now from Tailfin (20)Related Articles Best bike saddle bags 2026 reviewed Best Cyber Monday cycling deals UK 2025: Savings on bikes, kit and parts Cyclist's Gear of the Year 2025 38 perfect gift ideas for your favourite cyclist this Christmas Best top tube bags 2026 reviewed: Easy-access (and aero) storage on the bike Best bike frame bags 2026 reviewed Kostmewinter kitIve been following Bristol-based apparel brand Kostmefor a couple of years and the latest release really moves things forward. Its the first time Kostmehas released winter kit, focussing on high utility, durability and smart design. If you arent aware of Kostmes production model, its worth reading up. Essentially, it runs a pre-order service that minimises waste, over-stocking and discounting, leaving the brand to focus on sourcing high-grade materials and customer service. The latest release, named #EDIT006, features tights, gilet, jersey, base layer and neck warmer, all in a very fetching mix of pink and purple. The Winter Cargo Jersey is designed to work in every season except summer. As with all Kostme kit, its predominantly recycled and uses Polartec Power Shield RPM panels to add water protection in key areas. The double-knit fabric on the body traps air for insulation, while Kostme says its dense stitching helps block cold wind. Its fitted with a massive six pockets, so the indecisive riders out there can just shove everything in and hit the road. There are yet more pockets in the Windproof gilet: four to be exact. Two zipped on the front and two open on the rear. Kostme claims the gilet is both waterproof and breathable, and packs down easily to fit into, yep, another pocket. To clarify: when its not in use, the gilet packs down into its own rear pocket and can then be stored in a pocket elsewhere.Buy now from Kostme (from 155)Krcher OC3 Foldable power washerFor much of my life, I havent had access to private outdoor space in which to wash my bikes. This has resulted in a number of ruined bathtubs and showers where I have ill-advisedly chosen to deglaze filthy two-wheelers. Sorry, previous landlords.Luckily, I now do, and I have the tools to match.Krchers OC3 Foldable is a pressure hose that smartly packs down into a very stealth package. This means it has a volume of 8L but concertinas into a third of its maximum size. Power is provided by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that gives you 15 minutes of washing time. That doesnt sound like much, but I am almost always done with my cleaning within 15 minutes, especially if Ive given it a once over with a sponge first.Since it only weighs 2.2kg, the OC3 is supremely portable and absolutely ideal for racers or travellers who need a way of washing their bike when of no fixed abode. Krcher also sells a load of attachable accessories for your different needs. Got a dog and a Pinarello to clean, no worries. Just swap your pet attachment for your universal brush.Buy now from Krcher (129.99)The Fence on The PubI never miss a chance to shout out other leading print publications, so The Fence is getting some action today. Not only is it a very well-written quarterly periodical that covers all manner of current and evergreen issues in a style that lives somewhere between The New Yorker and The White Pube, but it also chances its arm at creating actual hardback books too.Im a pretty easy person to buy for when it comes to Secret Santa (anything pub or Coventry City-related, or bubbling in vinegar will be well received) but our ads head honcho Adrian really smacked it out of the park with this book, simply titled The Pub.You could lower it to the status of toilet book, something to be flicked through while youre dropping off the kids, but that would be to do it a disservice. Its a marbled melange of illustrations, vignettes, rankings, asides, tangents on asides, and good old-fashioned opinion pieces about subjects as esoteric as service station grog holes. In fact, its so diverting, youll be too distracted to drink your famous pint.It also includes writing from one of my favourite pubfluencers (what a job that is) Jimmy McIntosh aka The Grogfather (@londondeadpubs on Instagram), who has, in my opinion, nailed the mood for this kind of writing. McIntosh suspends the reader in that cognitively dissonant state of smirk and chin stroke, as you digest the boluses of insight that are delivered at that irreverent and debilitatingly facetious pitch. So thanks Adrian. Not only am I enjoying it immensely, Ill be buying it for all my male friends who deserve only a 15 present and no more.Buy now from Bookshop (16.14)The post In The Drops: Natty Ortlieb luggage, Kostme winter kit, Krcher power washer, Tailfin strap-on and pubs on The Fence appeared first on Cyclist.

Deda Introduces New Allroad Carbon Wheelset
Italian component brand Deda is leaning hard into versatility, but for a single wheel. It seems that 2026 is already the year of the do-it-all-road-wheel, and with that, Deda launches an all-new Allroad Carbon wheelset. The wheelset is a modernly wide, tubeless-ready carbon option designed to hop the sidewalk between road and gravel riding.Rather than splitting its carbon lineup into narrowly focused categories, Deda positions the Allroad Carbon as a catch-all wheelset. Were seeing this more and more: a wheelset equally at home on paved roads, rough backcountry routes, and mixed-surface riding. A wheelset where tire choice and durability matter just as much as weight and efficiency.(All photo/Deda)Deda All Road Carbon At the center of the Allroad Carbon design is a 27mm internal rim width, a clear signal that Deda is building around todays larger-volume tires. The wheels are optimized for tires 35mm to 51mm. The middle of the gravel sizing should cover everything from endurance road setups to full-volume gravel rubber without compromising stability or handling.(All photo/Deda)Externally, the rims measure a claimed 33mm wide and 36mm deep, with a semi-deep profile, similar to the ENVE and BOYD wheels launched yesterday. This profile should balance aerodynamics, compliance, and predictable crosswind behavior. The complete wheelset weighs 1,430 grams (slightly heavier than the aforementioned wheels). The rims are UCI-approved and fully tubeless-ready, compatible with both tubeless and clincher tires.(All photo/Deda)Filament-Wound ConstructionDeda builds the Allroad Carbon rims using a continuous-filament winding process rather than traditional layered carbon sheets. The brand says this automated production method allows for a more uniform structure with fewer inconsistencies. It also improves impact resistance while maintaining a high strength-to-weight ratio. The rim construction combines high-modulus carbon fibers with a UD/3K carbon composite. Deda chose this to balance between stiffness, durability, and ride comfort, especially important for riders spending long hours on rougher terrain(All photo/Deda)New Allroad Hubs With Faster EngagementThe wheels roll on Dedas new Allroad hubs, an evolution of its RS hub platform. The standout feature is a dual 40-tooth ratchet system that halves the engagement angle compared to the previous generation, enabling a quicker response when returning to power.(All photo/Deda)A redesigned internal layout places one ratchet inside the freehub body and the other inside the hub flange. Both are supported by a cylindrical spring and a dedicated washer to reduce friction and improve long-term reliability. The hub bodies are machined from AL7075 aluminum and spin on steel bearings, prioritizing durability over marginal weight savings.Disc compatibility is Center Lock, with standard 12100mm front and 12142mm rear thru-axle spacing. Shimano and SRAM XDR freehub options are available(All photo/Deda)Built-in RFID Product VerificationOne unique addition is integrated RFID technology, embedded directly into the rim. Using a smartphone with NFC capability, riders can scan the wheel to verify authenticity, register the product, and extend the warranty a feature Deda is rolling out across its higher-end wheel lineup for 2026dedaelementi.comThe post Deda Introduces New Allroad Carbon Wheelset appeared first on Bikerumor.

New Schwalbe Pro One Allroad combines road-tyre speed with gravel toughness for extreme conditions of ParisRoubaix
Schwalbe has unveiled the new Pro One Allroad tyre, which is said to combine road-race performance with the toughness of gravel tyres for the extreme conditions of races such as ParisRoubaix. Launched at the Velofollies trade show, Schwalbe says it began developing a tyre that excels in wet and rough road bike races a decade ago, with the S-One road tyre that was raced by Martin Elmiger at the 2015 ParisRoubaix. Elmiger finished the race in fifth, having suffered no punctures and with a tubeless setup, which was unusual for road bikes at the time. Pro One Allroad details The tyre is said to excel in the wet, rough conditions you find at races such as ParisRoubaix and Strade Bianche. Stan Portus / Our Media The new Pro One Allroad is said to use the same tread as the S-One, which is suited to all-road riding. But the rest of the tyre has come on some way since the model raced by Elmiger. The road bike tyre uses Schwalbe's Race Pro construction. This has three carcass layers at the sidewall to minimise the risk of flats, while the V-Guard puncture belt adds further protection under the tread. By optimising the carcass construction, Schwalbe says it could also reduce rolling resistance. The Pro One Allroad has Schwalbes Addix Race compound. This is used across the brands Pro Race tyres, but it has been fine-tuned for the Allroad tyre to help it deliver noticeably better puncture protection, precise wet grip, and the race performance that ambitious riders expect. Elsewhere, the road bike tyre is manufactured with fair trade rubber and uses recycled carbon black from Schwalbes recycling facilities. This is part of Schwalbes steps towards greater circularity and better use of resources. The Schwalbe Pro One Allroad is compatible with hookless rims and is available in three sizes: 30mm, 35mm and 40mm. Schwalbes product manager for drop-bar bikes, Oscar Fronhoff, says this range of widths means, Even a gravel bike can be converted to a race bike. Schwalbe is yet to confirm pricing. New gravel tyres Schwalbe has also announced its new G-One gravel tyres, the RS, R and RX. These tyres use the same tread patterns as the Pro version, but with Schwalbes Race carcass as opposed to Race Pro. They also have the brands RaceGuard puncture protection rather than the top-spec V-Guard belt, and use the Addix Green compound. While the Addix Race and Addix Green compounds are both said to aid Schwalbes sustainability goals, it says the Green version is even more resource efficient. The G-One gravel tyres cost 49.90, around 35 less than its Pro gravel tyres.
