Prologo Expands CPC Saddle Line with New Nago R4 & Dimension R2
Prologo is expanding its high-performance saddle lineup with the introduction of CPC (Connect Power Control) versions of the Nago R4 and all-new Dimension R2. The move brings Prologos patented CPC grip and vibration-damping technology to a broader range of ergonomics. This update is aimed squarely at performance-oriented riders who favor stability, comfort, and efficiency in aggressive riding positions. With these additions, Prologo now offers CPC saddles in round, semi-round, and flat profiles. (All photos/Prologo)What Does CPC Technology Do? CPC means Connect Power Control and is Prologos signature 3D conical polymer surface. They developed it specifically to improve the grip between rider and saddle. The raised polymer cones reduce unwanted movement in all weather conditions while also absorbing vibrations and feedback from the road.According to Prologo, CPCs nanostructure also promotes airflow across the saddle surface. They claim this small amount of airflow helps reduce heat buildup and lower muscle fatigue during long or high-intensity efforts. Its a stretch, but if youre looking for maximum performance, anything that could help is beneficial. Nago R4 CPC: Refined and Race-readyThe Nago R4 CPC builds on Prologos long-standing semi-round, T-shaped platform, now enhanced with CPC coverage. Measuring 245 137mm, its offered in two configurations:PAS version with a central cut-out designed to reduce pressure peaks in the perineal areaClosed version featuring Prologos Active Base system, which increases the support surface and improves pressure distributionDespite the added surface texture, the weight remains impressively low. The Nago R4 CPC starts at 159 grams for the PAS version with Nack carbon rails.Dimension R2 CPC: Flat, Fast, and AggressiveNew to the lineup is the Dimension R2 CPC. This model targets riders who prefer a flat saddle profile and a locked-in, forward position. Featuring V-shape ergonomics, a widened nose, and an advanced anatomical center with a PAS cut-out. The Dimension R2 CPC is more comfort-focused, but is still all business. At 245 143mm, the Dimension R2 CPC balances stability and performance. It looks to be well-suited to riders who like a solid perch to push big watts and spend long periods seated.Options, Weights, and PricingAll new CPC saddles are available with either Nack nano-carbon rails or Tirox steel alloy rails, offering a choice between maximum weight savings and durability.Nack rail versions: 269Tirox rail versions: 169Color options for the Nago R4 CPC are black or white, and for the Dimension R2 CPC, white or anthracite. Shimano's new PD-EH510 Hybrid Pedal could be perfect for your pub bike
Shimano has released its new PD-EH510 Hybrid SPD and Flat Pedal, which features an SPD mechanism on one side and a flat pedal on the other. The Japanese brand says the pedals are designed for commuting, exploring gravel roads or venturing off-pavement for the first time. Hybrid pedals give you the option of utilising the efficiency of being clipped in, while enabling you to ride unclipped on terrain you're less confident on or when wearing regular shoes. Unlike other half-and-half designs, such as Crankbrothers' Double Shot, the flat side of the PD-EH510 features replaceable pins, which should increase the longevity of the pedals. The pedals come in one colourway and are priced at 79.99. Read more: Best mountain bike pedals 2026 35 of our favourite flat and clipless MTB pedals The perfect pub-bike pedal? Shimano's PD-EH510 could offer the best of both worlds for commuters and tourers. Shimano The design of the PD-EH510 enables you to unclip from the SPD mechanism and continue to pedal unclipped while retaining traction. It also means you can use your bike with regular shoes without having to switch your pedals over making it perfect for quick trips to the pub. The pedals use a resin platform. Shimano The pedal is made from a durable resin featuring a textured finish that's said to help protect against rock strikes and abrasions. There are eight replaceable pins on each flat pedal, with the platform said to measure 111x96mm, which should offer good traction and stability. The brand says the pedals are best paired with its GF, EX and ET shoes. Shimano Shimano says it has used a thin pedal profile to improve ground clearance for technical terrain, and robust brushing bearings for long-lasting, low-maintenance performance.

Van Rysels Bonkers FTP^2 Aero eBike Concept Includes Electric Pedal/Shoe Combo?
Today, at the VeloFollies Trade Show at the Kortrijk Xpo in Belgium, Van Rysel unveiled the FTP^2 Concept Bike. But this is more than just a wild, experimental concept bike; the FTP^2 Project includes an integrated ecosystem or panoply of bike, shoes/pedals, helmet, and apparel, all developed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency and speed.Van Rysel states that FTP^2 is the most complex project ever carried out by the team, aiming to inspire the general public, as well as the bicycle industry, to continue pushing the boundaries to see what is possible. While this concept bike and accessories will not be made available to the public, it seems that Van Rysels goal is to push the limits of design and integration to inspire future innovation.Interestingly, with the FTP^2 (FTP squared), the team at Van Rysel states that this concept bike is designed to double a riders FTP (FTP x 2) and introduce amateurs to the thrill of pro-level speed. Semantics aside, this bold project combines a Mahle M40-powered aero road bike, a Formula 1-inspired cockpit and electronic controls, a fully integrated, motorized shoe/pedal combo, a clip-on aero helmet shell, and a speed suit.Theres a lot to unpack here, so lets check it all out.Van Rysel FTP^2 Concept BikeThe FTP^2 Concept bike is unlike anything else weve seen and honestly, kinda what you might expect when a bunch of engineers are given total design freedom. Unlike many concept bikes, Van Rysel tells us the FTP^2 is fully operational and meant to be ridden rather than just displayed at trade shows.Speed through multiplied power was one of the main goals of this project, and to that end, Van Rysel designed the FTP^2 to integrate seamlessly with the Mahle M40 pedal assist drive unit. Originally designed for eMTBs, the mid-drive M40 is one of the most powerful units on the market, capable of putting out up to 105 Nm of torque and 850 watts of peak power. Van Rysel says the motor is driven by specific software to optimize and manage it for use on the tarmac so the athlete transforms into a superhuman engine. Were told it has no speed limit and will assist a rider to whatever speed theyre willing to go.Bladed fork legs, super deep wheels, and F1-inspired controls. The Mahle M40 motor and battery are housed in the downtube, with what appears to be cooling fins to keep it from overheating. With that power multiplying the riders pedaling effort, Van Rysel says that aerodynamics is needed to master such speeds and becomes the absolute guarantee of safety. A quick look at the frame makes it abundantly clear the designers went all-in on aero. The two-piece fork with aggressively bladed legs is arguably the most visually striking element, but the entire frame, including the floating top tube beam, is shaped with NACA profiles to smooth airflow. If you are unfamiliar, NACA refers to a set of standardized airfoil shapes initially developed by the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA).Continuing the aerodynamic focus is the F1-inspired cockpit that actually looks somewhat reminiscent of an F1 steering wheel. Van Rysel passed on drop bars and instead designed something a bit more bullhorn-shaped with all of the electronics and brake levers positioned for flawless ergonomics. This includes controls for the AXS derailleur, pedal-assist modes, and even micrometric tightening of the shoes. You read that right, riders can adjust the tension of the FTP^2 shoes from the handlebar. The super-deep Swiss Side Hadron3 850 wheels will undoubtedly also help this bike slice through the air and maximize aerodynamics as will the aero seatpost and even the integrated computer mount. The interesting floating top tube beam reminds us of an old Soft Ride. The Not UCI-approved sticker seems a bit unnecessaryFTP^2 Concept Bike SpecsFrame & Fork: FTP carbonWeight: 15kg (size M)Electric Assist: Mahle M40Drivetrain: SRAM Red AXS / Praxis carbon cranksWheels: SWISS SIDE Hadron3 850Cockpit: FTP Carbon with integrated AXS / MAHLE / shoe tightening controlsSaddle: Fizik Argo Vento 00 AdaptiveVan Rysel FTP^2 Concept ShoeThe FTP^2 Concept shoes are designed for uncompromising aerodynamic performance. No pedal. No laces. Pure speed. The Concept bike is undoubtedly a unique design and engineering feat, but the FTP^2 Concept Shoes are just as radical, if not more. According to Van Rysel, the shoe breaks free from UCI rules to explore new performance potential where the shoe, pedal, and tightening system merge into a single technological block. The goal is simple: eliminate all parasitic interfaces for absolute efficiency. The Concept Shoe is really something to look at. Van Rysel essentially combined the shoe and pedal into a single unit, eliminating the shoe-to-pedal interface and the complexities that go with it. At the same time, they introduced a number of other patented technologies and designs, like an axle protruding from the shoe, electronics and a battery for motorized lacing, and a very aerodynamic NACA shape.No-Pedal Technology (patent 1)The pedal axle attaches directly to the carbon sole of the FTP^2 Concept Shoes. Note the AXS battery mounted on the heel.Van Rysel tells us that the No-Pedal technology is the most innovative design feature. According to the brand, the shoe no longer clips onto a pedal; it becomes the pedal. The pedal axle/spindle integrates directly into the carbon sole of the shoe, rendering a separate pedal unnecessary. No pedal means no cleat, no hardware, and no shoe-pedal interface. This results in an incredibly low stack, which should help to minimize energy loss and make for very direct power transfer and pedaling efficiency.Motorized Lacing (patent 2)If an integrated shoe-and-pedal system wasnt radical enough, the Concept shoes feature the first motorized tightening system were aware of. This system is completely internal and powered by a SRAM AXS battery housed behind the heel. This eliminates all external dials or laces that could impact aerodynamics. Inside the shoe, a micromotor manages lace tension via an invisible winder, which is controlled via radio signal from buttons in the cockpit. This means that riders can adjust the tension of their shoes on the fly without letting go of the handlebar. The large vent cools the foot and internal motor, and reportedly reduces drag, too. NACA Aerodynamics (patent 3)Like the bike, a quick look at the shoe shows that aerodynamics was a top priority in the design. Not only does the motorized lacing system keep the exterior smooth, but the outer shell has a NACA shape thats meant to mimic an airplane wing profile on its lateral side. According to Van Rysel, this lateral vent with internal fins captures disturbed air to reduce drag, but also leverages these fins to drive an internal ventilation system. This system cools both the riders foot and the internal lacing motor. These radical concept shoes with No-Pedal technology are obviously an exploration, and Van Rysel says they will inform and influence the design of upcoming high-end shoes. Were definitely interested in seeing someone get on and off the bike with the Concept Shoes since it isnt entirely clear how that works!FTP^2 Concept Shoe Specs:Weight: ~500g (complete system with axle included)Outer Shell: 3D printed / lateral NACA shapePedal interface: integrated hub in sole (no-pedal tech)Tightening: internal motorization (radio control on bar)Upper: integrated aero overshoe / high-speed textilePower: removable SRAM battery (heel)Sole: internal molded carbon layupFTP^2 Aero HelmetThe X Clip Aero shell clips onto the Van Rysel RCR-R road helmet to create a modular system.According to Van Rysel, the Aero Helmet is the fastest shape in the world. Interestingly, the FTP^2 helmet isnt a complete helmet; rather, it is a clip-on cover that transforms an existing helmet into an aerodynamic weapon of pure speed. The brand also states that this solution solves the impossible equation between the lightness of road gear and the aerodynamics of a time-trial profile. The X Clip Concept (patented technology)With the X Clip, Van Rysel has created a modular aero helmet system. Working with Swiss Side the global reference in aerodynamics Van Rysel sculpted the outer carbon shell with the goal of achieving the lowest drag coefficient. The brand states that it is considered to be one of the fastest shapes on the market, optimized to reduce drag and stabilize the riders head, thereby reducing neck fatigue at high speeds. One of the most interesting elements of the design is the modularity. The aero shell clips directly onto the Van Rysel RCR-R road helmet, which serves as the base of the system. According to the brand, this modularity maintains the safety and comfort of a homologated, ventilated road helmet while providing the air penetration performance of a record-breaking prototype.Apparently, its the fastest shape in the world. For additional safety, Van Rysel has integrated a rear light into the tail of the aero shell to enhance rider visibility on the road. This light is not an add-on or afterthought; instead, it is part of the design. This means that being seen on the road wont compromise aerodynamics and should have minimal impact on weight.Perhaps most importantly, this Concept Aero Helmet points to a not-too-distant future in which a modular system like this may reach production. Rather than owning multiple race helmets, riders could potentially switch between classic and aero setups as needs change.Side view of the FTP^2 Aero Helmet.FTP^2 Aero Helmet SpecsTechnology: X Clip Concept (patented system)Chassis base: VAN RYSEL RCR-R helmet (homologated)Aerodynamic design: Swiss Side collaborationShell material: carbon fiberVisibility: integrated LED light signatureWeight: optimized (carbon/Lattice structure)FTP^2 Speed SuitRounding out Van Rysels FTP^2 Project ecosystem is the Speed Suit. This is not your typical skinsuit Van Rysel refers to it as aerodynamic armor. With this suit, the brand intends to make it so that riders dont have to choose between safety and speed. One of the goals of this suit was to integrate protective elements into the design to demonstrate that padding doesnt reduce performance or affect aerodynamics. Based on the limited information provided, it isnt immediately clear where the abrasion-resistant materials or pads are placed, although its fair to assume that theyre in locations that may prove beneficial in the event of a crash. More importantly, Van Rysel says the pads create aerodynamic volumes to sculpt the body and improve airflow.Cant tell much about whats going on with the Speed Suit in this photo. Looks nice, though. The outer skin, or visible layer, of the Speed Suit is the exact one currently used by World Tour professionals. Not only does the textile glide easily through the air, but it covers the internal armor, creating a perfectly smooth surface against the wind.Van Rysel worked with Jonathan & Fletcher engineering for the complex textile architecture. Known for its speed textile engineering, Jonathan & Fletcher workshop contributed its expertise, making it possible to materialize the Bolero cut, a construction that treats the upper body as a single surface to ensure uninterrupted gliding against the wind.FTP^2 Speed Suit SpecsArchitecture: bi-layer system (underwear + suit)Textile development: Jonathan & Fletcher partnershipInner layer: anti-abrasion base layer with integrated protection padsProtection: hyper-flexible pads (dual function: safety & aero)Outer layer: pro WorldTour textileDesign: bolero construction (shoulder/arm optimization)Van Rysel FTP^2 Concept ProjectA glimpse of the future?Taken on their own and as a complete ecosystem, each of the concept products described above includes bold designs that push the boundaries, and thats the whole point. With the bike, shoes, helmet, and speed suit, theres certainly no shortage of out-of-the-box thinking and designs with the Van Rysel FTP^2 Project. While you cant buy it and we may never see any of it hit the market, some of these concepts and innovations are sure to influence the design and performance of future products. Its essentially a rolling laboratory. With Project FTP^2, we deliberately stepped outside traditional cycling industry frameworks, said Wilm Van Hoecke, Project Manager and Van Rysel E-Bike Product Manager. Doubling the riders FTP, removing speed limits, and developing our own electronics, cockpit, and textiles allowed us to explore extreme performance in a controlled and thoughtful way. Were certainly intrigued. Well keep you posted if or when we learn more about it. Right now, I think were most interested in seeing someone get in and out of those shoesvanrysel.comThe post Van Rysels Bonkers FTP^2 Aero eBike Concept Includes Electric Pedal/Shoe Combo? appeared first on Bikerumor.

Van Rysel reveals FTP2 Concept Bike that will double your power and reach speeds over 100kph
Van Rysel has revealed one of the most eye-catching bikes of recent times, the FTP2 Concept Bike, which it describes as a rolling laboratory, unrestrained by current industrial standards. Launched at the Velofollies trade show, which opens today in Kortrijk, Belgium, close to the brands home in Lille, France, the FTP2 Concept Bike is clearly intended on some level as a publicity stunt. But, with its radical frame design, powerful electric motor and ability to propel you to speeds in excess of 100kph, Van Rysel intends the FTP2 Concept Bike to confirm the brands commitment to research, design and development. Why has Van Rysel created the FTP2 Concept Bike? The bike forgoes a seat tube. Van Rysel Founded in 2018, Van Rysel is Decathlons performance bicycle brand. In 2023, it was revealed that Van Rysel would be co-title sponsor of Decathlon AG2RLa Mondiale. Since then, Van it has been on a mission to prove it's capable of producing the best road bikes, worthy of a place at the top of the sport. Van Rysels RCR-F aero bike was launched in 2024 with bold claims around the companys development process, and Van Rysels Nicolas Pierron describing it as a UFO. Now, with the FTP2 Concept Bike, the extraterrestrial theme continues its a bike from another planet and so does the emphasis on Van Rysels technical capabilities. Confirming Van Rysels commitment to research, design, and innovation, FTP2 is a concept bike like no other pushing the boundaries of whats possible, inspiring future innovation and showcasing Van Rysels unique in-house R&D capabilities, the brand says. The project also has the bigger aim of expanding what the public and bicycle industry deem possible. It is the most complex project ever carried out by the team, aiming to inspire the general public, as well as the bicycle industry, to continue pushing the boundaries to see what is possible, Van Rysel adds. The FTP2 Concept Bikes frame design The bike has a wide fork and appears to have two crowns. Van Rysel The result of that complexity and ambition is a bike that looks like no other road bike. Freed from the UCIs constraints on bicycle design, thats not such a surprise. Its not a surprise either that it has a passing resemblance to another type of go-fast bike freed from the UCIs rules: a triathlon bike, and specifically the Cervlo P5X. Like the P5X, Van Rysels concept bike forgoes a seat tube. However, it does have a more conventional chainstay, even if the seatstays run virtually parallel. The FTP2 Concept Bike also adds a wide two-part fork, which appears to have two crowns, similar to the design used on Matthew Richardsons Hope HB.T track bike for his 200m World Record. Van Rysel says the handmade carbon frame and complete bike are rideable. It stands as a tangible prototype, built to withstand the constraints of extreme speed on the asphalt rather than just looking good on a podium, it says. Superhuman engine Hidden in the frame is a Mahle M40 electric bike motor. Van Rysel Van Rysel claims the FTP2 Concept Bike will double your FTP and magnify your effort, and while the radical aero frame will likely aid that, the bike has a special motor tucked away in the down tube. Van Rysel says the bike has a unique version of the Mahle M40 electric bike motor. Initially designed for mountain biking, this motor is driven by specific software developed to manage this raw power on the tarmac, Van Rysel says. The system does not merely assist the rider but multiplies the input effort by four. The athlete transforms into a superhuman engine capable of reaching speeds between 45 and 100 km/h. An integrated ecosystem The cockpit is said to be inspired by Formula One cars. Van Rysel As opposed to just designing a bike, Van Rysels concept project includes a fully integrated ecosystem, with a special cockpit, shoes, helmet and clothing. The cockpit of the bike is said to be inspired by Formula One cars, and fully centralises the machines piloting from a bullhorn position. The cockpit also fits a Hammerhead bike computer flush with the stem and above an integrated front light. Van Rysel claims the cockpit can even be used to tighten the FTP2 concept shoe, which has an aeroplane wing profile to smooth airflow and becomes the pedal by integrating an axle into the carbon sole. The shoe does away with pedals. Van Rysel When designing the FTP2 aero helmet, Van Rysel says it didnt start from the drawing board. Instead, the helmet uses Van Rysels new X Clip Concept, where an aerodynamic shell clips onto its existing RCR-R road helmet. This modularity maintains the safety and comfort of a homologated, ventilated helmet while providing the air penetration performance of a record-breaking prototype, Van Rysel says. The outer shell was made with Swiss Side, the aerodynamics experts Van Rysel also collaborated with for its RCR-F aero bike. The helmet uses Van Rysel's new X Clip Concept. Van Rysel The speed suit integrates protective panels. Van Rysel Finally, Van Rysel also created the FTP2 speed suit. Because the concept bike is capable of motorcycle speeds, the suit incorporates protective pads that are flexible and offer a claimed aerodynamic benefit. The exterior of the suit is said to be abrasion-resistant, while there is an integrated baselayer that also has pads for protection. Not for sale, but the tech will be As you might have guessed, the FTP2 Concept Bike wont be for sale. But Van Rysel says the ideas developed for the project will make their way to commercial products. The aerodynamic integration of the battery, the fork design, and the integrated lighting signature prefigure the standards for future Van Rysel road bikes, it says. Van Rysel says the tech developed across the rest of the ecosystem will also make its way to consumer products. The protective elements of the speed suit will likely make their way to Van Rysels cycling kit in the future, while the X-Clip helmet system foreshadows modular equipment and paves the way for a new generation of versatile helmets. Meanwhile, its unlikely well see Van Rysel release a cycling shoe with an integrated pedal system, but it says the work on the FTP2 shoes airflow and textiles will influence the design of its top-spec footwear. In Van Rysels words: What is extreme today will be the norm tomorrow.
