Osprey Soars Into Gravel Racing w/ 2025 Hydration Packs
Last year, Osprey teased their now-available Escapist bikepacking and frame bag collection. This year, theyre adding to it, but looking at it from the racing side of things with new hydration vests. Theres also big updates to the Raven and Raptor MTB packs, and lots of sizes for the frames bags.Ranging from $80 to $90, the Frame Bag comes in three sizes, with a smaller Wedge bag adding a bit of extra storage for $60. Combine them with the top tube bag, handlebar roll bag, and a roll-top saddle bag, and youve got a complete setup. All of them use a PFAS-free DWR coating and waterproof zipper with 100% recycled 210D nylon. Velcro straps attach them to the frame.Ospreys original Escapist packs were larger, aimed at casual bikepacking. But with the top tube and wedge bags working great for long-distance gravel racers (and the growing popularity of such events), they needed a proper race vest. They said a lot of riders were using their running vests, but now theres a bike-specific option that adds some clever features. Itll come in 3L and 6L sizes with a 1L hydration bladder inside. The 3L can stuff a few things in the main reservoir compartment, but the 6L gets a dedicated cargo section and tool-roll lower zip pocket. The front has two stretch mesh stash pockets (one on the 3L) in front of zippered mesh pockets that are sized for larger snacks, a phone, folded maps, etc.Adjustable side and chest straps help you dial in the fit. Both sides feature a handy sunglasses sleeveslide one arm into the small hole and it kinda traps your shades when you need to stow them. The Osprey Escapist race vests wont be available for a while, likely early 2025, though. Same forthe next generation Raptor and Raven mountain bike hydration packs. Both will get a new, slimmer version of their Lid-Lock helmet capture. The new handle is a lot thinner, but a bit wider, which will make it easier to slide into narrower helmet air vents and also hold them more securely. The Raptor (above) will come in 10L and 14L sizes. Both have zippered tool rool pockets on the bottom and a front stash pocket for jackets, but the 14L stacks a zippered cargo pocket in front of that:Where the current Raptor/Raven bags had a front zippered storage pocket with the same two little mesh pockets and key hook, the zipper and access were on the side and made it hard to see what all was in there. Now, it has a large U-shaped opening that reveals all. Teh small orange bungies on the inside of the flap are used to tighten up the Lid Lock. The Raptor (mens) and Raven (womens) will also get new colors, the Airscape back panel padding, size zip pockets on the hip belt, and their full-zip hydration reservoir pocket with magnetic hose management on the sternum strap.Osprey.comThe post Osprey Soars Into Gravel Racing w/ 2025 Hydration Packs appeared first on Bikerumor.

Councillors vote for Dublin City Centre Transport Plan to go ahead with greater consultation with disabled groups
A Section 140 motion to delay the Dublin City Centre Transport Plan was amended by councillors so that it no longer includes a delay while also instructing council management to undertake greater, ongoing consultation with Disabled Persons Organisations. The amendment was approved with 25 in favour and 22 against. The amendment said that it aims to ensure close consultation for DPOs, without throwing out several thousand submissions. At least some Social Democrat councillors voted against the amendment because they intended to vote for their own amendment. Some councillors of other parties had said they were to vote for the first amendment, but they may have been influenced by Cllr Damian OFarrell (independent), who said if people were to vote for one of the amendments, it should be the second one.Disabled Persons Organisations (DPOs) are rights-based organisations. DPOs are groups run for and by disabled people. DPOs differ from disabled service providers there are no paid positions in DPOs, and they are not lobbyists. As previously reported, the motion to delay the project had been signed by Cllr OFarrell, Cllr Nial Ring, Cllr Christy Burke, Cllr John Lyons, Cllr Mannix Flynn, Cllr Noeleen Reilly, Cllr Patricia Roe, and Cllr Cieran Perry. All of them are independent councillors except Cllr Roe, who is in the Social Democrats.Cllr OFarrell claimed that the amendments would be unlawful because the process isnt being reset, but before the vote on the amendment, the councils law agent, Yvonne Kelly, outlined her view that setting aside the full consultation as proposed by Cllr OFarrells motion would be legally unsound.Richard Shakespeare, chiefexecutive of Dublin City Council, said, based on concerns raised, a number of changes have been made. These include that it was checked that the number of blue badge parking spaces would still be the same and access maintained to all of them, that the length of the bus gates will be minimised so people can set down, and the hours of operation of the bus gates will be adjusted to be less than 24 hours so allowing extra access at night time.Shakespeare outlined that there had been an issue on the side of one DPO when they tried to reply to the council, while he also apologised that another was not contacted earlier. He said there are active invites to meet two DPOs who want to consult their members before meeting. Other DPOs who had been contacted have not replied. The amended motion, which was agreed on, was put forward by Cllr Michael Pidgeon (Green), Cllr Declan Meenagh (Labour) and Cllr Daith Doolan (Sinn Fin). The amendment alters the original motion to replace the text after the phase of Mindful of the above commitment with:this Council calls on the Chief Executive to:arrange close consultation meetings with any Disabled Person Organisations who wish to be consulted on the proposed Draft Dublin City Centre Transport Plan, including on the final location of bus gateupdate the consultation report presented to elected members on 8th of April 2024 to reflect these consultations; circulate this updated report to councillorsensure that all registered DPOs are contacted properly as required, meet with the National Disability Authority and review the supports they offer and identify ways the city council can improve our consultations on disability issues, and consult with DPOs on how this communication can be improved. The rationale for the amendment said that: Over 3,500 people made submissions as part of the consultation. Setting aside over 3,500 submissions would not be respectful of their time and work. This amendment aims to ensure close consultation for DPOs, without throwing out several thousand submissions. The meeting has already been archived and can be watched back online at dublincity.public-i.tv.

Kogel Angles to be your T-Type OSPW Upgrade
Kogels Kolossos derailleur hanger upgrades have made the leap to T-Type, offering a replacement cage with their oversized pulleys spinning on ceramic bearings. They had already introduced replacement pulleys that fit into the stock SRAM T-Type rear derailleurs, but now the T-ransformation is completeThere are two main things you should know about the new Kogel Kolossos T-Type. First, the cage is angled to mimic SRAMs Inline Cage design that points the lower pulley toward the chainring to reduce noise and friction.Second, it does not include the clutch mechanism like the stock replacement cages do. So, youll have disconnect the stock pulley from the clutch, leaving it inside the derailleurs P-knucle housing, then twist and bolt the Kolossos on in its place. Kogel includes the tool to remove the 3mm tamper-proof bolt that SRAM uses to dissuade such shenanigans. This is similar but different to how you install any OSPW on most other cages, but slightly different only because T-Type derailleur cages are meant to twist out of the derailleur for tool-free swaps. Not sure what any of that means? Heres my original coverage of the Transmission system for a refresher. The T-Type Kolossos starts shipping in mid-May, is available for order now, and costs $475 standard for black, gold, or raw. For $525, you can get it with your choice of cage, pulley, and hardware colors, mixing and matching from all of their available anodized colors (adds blue, red, purple, etc., to the mix).Or, for a limited time (and for $550), you can get it in bright green/pink or pink/green Cerakoted combos. I mean, you do you, Id probably stick with black.Kogel.ccThe post Kogel Angles to be your T-Type OSPW Upgrade appeared first on Bikerumor.
