Theyre also well-padded, and have a few other handy features to keep things organized.Behind the pad is a soft, fleecy material that wont scratch the paint on your truck. A rear hatch can be pulled up to reveal the tailgate handle or backup camera when not loading a bike in the center.The bikes rest between padded blocks, minimizing shifting. Straps use buckles with G hooks, which wont wear out like Velcro. The straps are long enough to fit around even the fattest e-bike downtubes, too.The main body has 30mm of thick foam to protect your bikes frame, with thicker 40mm dual-density foam to pad the fork and stanchions hanging off the back. Two 116 storage pockets hang on the inside to carry gloves, tools, mini pumps, etc.It uses the same G-hook straps to secure the pad to your tailgate and comes with this handy tool to help slide the buckle through the gap during installation. Fans of Noble Wheels were likely disappointed to hear that the one-man operation out of London was sitting down last November. Noble was originally a wheel builder who transitioned to making some impressive tools for building wheels, rebuilding hubs, and more. The tools were so impressive that Jason from Abbey Bike Tools took notice, and offered to acquire Nobles entire catalog of tool designs after Jonny announced that he was closing. Now, youll see many of Nobles designs find their way into Abbey-made tools, stamped with the Noble name where its possible. One of the first new Abbey/Noble tools is the Wheel Lacing Stand. According to Jason, the stand is roughly 20% faster and more ergonomic when building wheels, and its especially good for building wheels with heavy hubs like IGH or ebike hubs. Designed to work with almost any wheel size, the arms are adjustable in and out, and the center stand swaps out with an m5 thread to fit 12, 15, and QR hubs for now. The Stand will sell for $350 and is available for preorder now which will ship in 2-3 weeks. Another Noble design, the bearing extractors use an expanding wedge system to pull bearings from hubs, suspension components, and more. Sold in a 10pc set, the kit will include 4 extractors to fit 12-20mm ID bearings, and 6 external cups to fit 24-37mm OD. The set will sell for $300, and should be shipping now. Spoke Wrench PrototypeWhile Abbey is now making Nobles tools, theyre still making their own designs as well evidenced by their spoke wrench prototype. This one is made from 7075 aluminum, though there are plans to offer some with tool steel inserts for the nipple. Jason said a lot of details were still in the works like whether it would be 3-sided or 4-sided, but the tool will be compatible with the DT-Swiss bladed spoke holder.No timeline on these yet. At the show, they thought it would be fun to have a purple version of their Loam dropper post and see what people thought. Turns out, they liked it a lot, so theyre going to do something.Theyll start with an anodized silver thatll be a little shiny (not high polished), and the stanchion will be a slightly different silver. Theyre limited to what colors they can do a hard anodizing in, which is necessary on the sliding part (aka the stanchion), but theyll be close in color. As for the purple, that could come later this year as a very limited edition.Not shown, a new Range Dropper lineup is coming this summer (target, June) to consolidate their Ranier and Ridge models. Itll have a sealed, dual-chamber cartridge (similar to whats in the Ranier), with 6061 series aluminum to save costs. That lets them come in at just $159, and itll have a 200mm travel option. Co-founder Aaron Kerson says that gives them one of the (if not thee) most affordable 200mm droppers on the market.They also showed off a new Loam stem. Its fully CNCd and will come in 35mm and 31.8mm clamp diameters. Look for 32mm and 40mm lengths, and possibly later a 50mm based on demand. Theyll offer it in black, pewter silver, orange, and purple, MSRP is $99.Lastly, theyre launching a 31.8mm version of their Loam carbon riser bar (shown in the middle, 35mm on top).
