1UP USA Releases New & Improved Beefed-Up Super Duty (SD) Hitch Rack Also for eBikes
While strolling the booths at this years Sea Otter Classic, we made it over to the 1UP USA booth to check out their new Super Duty hitch-mounted bike rack. Building on the success of the previous version, the new Super Duty promises to be more rugged, capable, and versatile than before. (Photo/Ron Frazelle)The new Super Duty brings significant updates to meet the expanding needs of cyclists. Designed to carry bikes up to 100 pounds per tray, the SD is engineered to be durable and reliable. Since the original Super Duty launched in 2016, it has been hailed as one of the best racks on the planet, said Kurt Barclay, Marketing Director for 1UP USA. Weve listened to feedback, observed how cyclists are pushing the boundaries of bike transportation, and sought ways to enhance the already impressive capabilities of the SD rack. The result is what we consider the ultimate evolution of the 1UP USA Super Duty Rack.Super Duty (SD) Retail and Key FeaturesRetail: The base price varies between $600 and $950 depending on tray configuration More CapableWith thicker side plates and pivot beams, tray capacity now allows up to 100 lbs for the first two trays. Spacing has been extended between bike trays to provide additional clearance between bike spots. Off-road ReadyThe new Super Duty is rated for extreme off-road use. But now its compatible with Wheel Chock. Wheel Chock is an accessory that cradles the front wheel eliminating that annoying wheel flop when the steer tube rotates while the bike is in the rack. This also stabilizes the bike, making it more stout and better for serious off-road use. Clean and TidyThe new Super Duty also folds up to 90 when not in use, only protruding 8 from the hitch. The single bike option allows for most rear hatches to open without lowering the rack. One-handed OperationRedesigned glide bars and levers offer a stronger connection to the arms that hold the tires. This enables a press-and-lift feature that allows users to disengage the ratchet and open/close the arms with one hand, making loading and unloading the bikes easier. Additionally, the Super Duty is compatible with the optional loading ramp, allowing uncomplicated mounting of heavy bikes onto the rack. Adjustable WheelbaseThe new SD introduces adjustable-width trays, providing the option for four different width configurations: standard at 54, long at 58, and offset to either the driver or passenger side at 56. The new SD is fat bike ready for up to 5 tires straight out of the boxBuilt to AccessorizeThe SD uses the same Add-On mounting system as 1UPs Quick Rack system, making it reverse-compatible with current add-ons and most accessories. Up To Four BikesAvailable as a single or double base rack with the option to add two add-ons, the Super Duty is just as modular as the original. All 1UP USA racks are American-made and backed by a lifetime warranty. I any accidents occur, every component is available for purchase on the 1UP USA website. 1UP-USA.comThe post 1UP USA Releases New & Improved Beefed-Up Super Duty (SD) Hitch Rack Also for eBikes appeared first on Bikerumor.

Tour de Romandie mens 2024: Route, start list, how to watch and everything you need to know
CyclistTour de Romandie mens 2024: Route, start list, how to watch and everything you need to knowThe Tour de Romandie is a staple for Tour de France preparations, with past winners including Tour champions Chris Froome, Geraint Thomas, Bradley Wiggins and Cadel Evans. The 2024 mens edition starts on Tuesday 23rd April and runs until Sunday 28th April.Taking the riders through the French-speaking Romandy region in the west of Switzerland, which includes the cantons of Geneva, Jura, Neuchtel and Vaud as well as parts of Bern, Fribourg and Valais, there is usually a healthy amount of hard climbing and good time-trial action for the GC specialists to sink their teeth into. The 2024 parcours will feature a heavy amount of time-trialling with both a prologue and a time-trial on Stage 3. Two summit finishes at Les Marcottes and Leysin will also prove crucial in the battle for overall victory. Favourites for the 2024 race include Spanish wonderkid Juan Ayuso, former Tour de France champion Egan Bernal and Bora-Hansgrohes double threat of Jai Hindley and Sasha Vlasov. So short that most riders will complete the course within the time length of most commercial pop songs. That said, there will be plenty of corners and road furniture that could take the riders out of their rhythm.Stage 1: Wednesday 24th April, Chteau dOex Fribourg, 165.7kmThe first road stage will take the riders out of the chocolate box mountains briefly. Some small bumps along the way will test the peloton, but a routine sprint approach to the line in Fribourg, a town which sits on the eastern frontier of Switzerlands French-speaking region. Stage 2: Thursday 25th April, Fribourg Salvan/Les Marcottes, 171.0kmThe much-anticipated Swiss Alps will make an appearance on Stage 2. With two substantial climbs on the menu here in Les Mosses (12.9km at 4.1%) and the finishing climb of Les Marcottes (10km at 7.3%). The mountain-top challenge will take the riders onto slopes maxing out at 14% in gradient.Stage 3: Friday 26th April, Oron Oron, ITT, 15.5kmThe profile for the races second race of truth is ruthlessly undulating, with an initial 3km climb right from the start. From here its up and down all the way to the end. Expect a wild set of results on the time-sheets anything goes in a Tour de Romandie time-trial, especially if its as bite-size as this.Stage 4: Saturday 27th April, Saillon Leysin, 151.7kmThe summit-finish sequel offers a much tougher Toblerone-like profile. Two Alpine tests will preface the final climb at Leysin. Over 10km in length and at an average gradient of 5.9%, this stage will offer a last-chance saloon for anyone to make necessary time gaps ahead of the Tour de Romandies conclusion the next day.Stage 5: Sunday 28th April, Vernier Vernier, 150.8kmDont let the profile above fool you. This stage is not as challenging as it presents itself to be. The short kicker of Dardagny (2km at 4.4%) provides a small opportunity for gaps to be made, but in reality this should be one for the sprinters or a breakaway effort.
