- BIKERUMOR.COMRedshift Goes Top Shelf w/ New Bar Bag, Adds Low Flare and Narrower Bar OptionsContinuing to innovate with new ideas for on-bike comfort, Redshift Sports has released some new products. Introducing the Top Shelf Handlebar Bag, and new low flare versions of the Kitchen Sink, and Top Shelf Bar, plus narrower sizes for all.47cm, 25-degree flare (back) vs. 50cm, 10-degree flare (front) (Photos / R. Frazelle)Remember the Top Self Riser drop bar that I wrote about back in April? The bar they sent me back then was a 47cm width with a 25-degree flare. The bar was nice, but the width and flare didnt work for me.47cm, 25-degree flare (top) vs. 50cm, 10-degree flare (bottom)Now that they offer wider versions with less flair, they sent a 50cm, 10-degree flare option to me. Along with the new bar, they sent the new custom bag that is made for the Top Shelf bar with it as well.Redshift Top Shelf BagWe covered the Top Shelf bar in the article mentioned above, so lets dive into the Top Shelf Bag. The Top Shelf Bag is a stable and secure way to bring extra goodies on a ride. Its specifically designed for the Top Shelf Bar.It mounts perfectly to the Top Shelf Bar. It was easy to mount and seemed to be very secure. The inside is chock full of pockets and compartments, making organizing your stuff easy-peasy. The zippered mesh pocket is a nice touch for your phone for a quick glance. And the reinforced side panels keep their shape, making the occasional rummage for a snack, uneventful. It uses two types of closures for the top flap. There are two short zippers and magnets. The magnets will allow super quick access to the contents of the bag. They are strong and keep the flap closed even without using the zippers.Like the Kitchen Sink bar bag, it has attachment loops to mount the optional Redshift Computer Mount.Top Shelf Bag Retail and FeaturesRetail: $90 (get a bundle discount when buying it with the bar)Self-closing, magnetically secured top lid is designed for single-handed access, even while riding. The lid also features two side zippers that further secure contents over rough terrain.Capacity of 1.75 liters to fit all your essentials: clothes, multiple tubes, tools, snacks, etc.A padded phone pocket and multiple interior stash pockets keep your gear organized and protected.Optional bike computer mount (compatible with Garmin and Wahoo computers), positions your bike computer on top of the bag in an ideal location in front of the stem.New Low Flare Top Shelf & Kitchen Sink BarsThe new Low Flare option of the Top Shelf and Kitchen Sink bars features a road-style 10 deg flare at the drops. This is a big difference from the original 25 deg flare of the OG bars. 41cm, 25 degee flare, 50mm rise (photo / Redshift Sports)41cm, 10 degee flare, 70mm rise(photo / Redshift Sports)The new narrower bars still have the same shallow drop, back sweep and rise as the current 25 deg flare models. If a lower flare is your preference, like me, the new bars are designed just for you.Theyre Now Narrower Along side the Top Shelf Bag and Lower Flare bar options, Redshift also released a new 41cm narrow-width version of the bars. This new width will run across all of the Redshift bars and will be available in both flare options. All bars are now available in the following widths: 41cm, 44cm, 47cm, 50cm, and 53cm.Note that the widest 53cm option is also new since we originally reported on the bars. - WWW.CYCLIST.CO.UKWho are the favourites for Il Lombardia 2024?CyclistWho are the favourites for Il Lombardia 2024?The final Monument of the season, Il Lombardia, will take place on 12th October 2024. This year the peloton will depart from Bergamo and head over climbs including the Madonna del Ghisallo and Colma di Sormano towards Como, totalling 252km of racing.Last years edition was won by Tadej Pogaar in what was his third consecutive Il Lombardia victory. He attacked on the Passo di Ganda and soloed to victory as Andrea Bagioli and Primo Rogli completed the podium. Pogaar returns to the start line with a four-peat very much on the cards while Rogli has decided not to take on the race this year. However, there are riders also eyeing a Monument for their palmars who will try their best to thwart Pogaar.Tadej Pogaar (UAE Team Emirates)The unstoppable force of Tadej Pogaar could be the second man since Fausto Coppi (1946-1949) to win four editions of Il Lombardia in a row. After taking a break following his Giro-Tour double, the 26-year-old has shown no signs of slowing down, powering to a World Championship Road Race victory that leads him to the start line in the rainbow bands. The hilly parcours suit him, as evidenced by his three consecutive wins so far, and it feels like only a matter of time before he launches another classic solo attack on the road to Como. Tilton/Getty ImagesRemco Evenepoel suffered a horrifying crash at Il Lombardia in 2020, in which he fell into a ravine on the descent of the Muro di Sormano. A fractured pelvis ended his season and he began a long road to recovery. He returned to the race in 2021 for 19th place but his best result came in 2023 where he finished ninth from the second group on the road.Evenepoel has had immense success in one-day races and, while Lombardia is not on his extensive palmars, his prominence in races like this is evidenced by his dominant win at the Olympics earlier this year.Matteo Jorgenson (Visma-Lease a Bike)A.S.O./Billy CeustersAfter overall success at Paris-Nice, victory at Dwars Door Vlaanderen and a top ten at the Tour de France, American Matteo Jorgenson is in the form of his life in 2024.Last year he crossed the line at Il Lombardia in 23rd and was the highest-placed rider on the Movistar squad in a group three minutes down on Pogaar. Jorgenson should get a top ten and has the capability to get on the podium if he manages his effort and gets in the right moves.Enric Mas (Movistar)A.S.O./Charly LopezMovistars Enric Mas hasnt won since Giro dellEmilia in 2022, the same year in which he finished second to Pogaar at Il Lombardia. It was a tight finish at the Race of the Falling Leaves where, try as he might, Mas couldnt distance the defending champion in the run up to the line. After finishing on the Vuelta podium, Mas has been consistent recently with eighth places in his last two races, the World Championships and the Giro dellEmilia.Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers)A.S.O./Jonathan BicheOlympic MTB gold medallist Tom Pidcock just raced to second place behind Pogaar at the Giro dellEmilia, but his best result on the road this season was an impressive victory at the Amstel Gold Race. It speaks to his talents to include him in a list of favourites despite never having raced this Monument before, but his Classics experience and current form should put him in contention for a good result here.Romain Bardet (DSM-Firmenich-PostNL)A.S.O./Charly LopezThis will be Romain Bardets final time racing Il Lombardia ahead of his retirement next summer. The Frenchman has been flying this year with a second place at Lige-Bastogne-Lige and a brilliant escape to win Stage 1 and wear the first yellow jersey of the Tour de France.More recently, he raced to tenth place in the World Championship Road Race. Winning is perhaps a step too far when faced with Pogaar, but a podium is within his reach if he has a good day.Andrea Bagioli (Lidl-Trek)Tim de Waele/Getty ImagesAndrea Bagioli enjoyed a brilliant run of Italian races in October last season when racing for Soudal-QuickStep, finishing third in Coppa Bernocchi, winning Gran Piemonte and finishing second to Pogaar at Il Lombardia. Now at Lidl-Trek, the 25-year-old hasnt had the same success this year with a DNF at the Giro dellEmilia, but he will be on the start line at Lombardia once more alongside a strong team that includes Giulio Ciccone, Bauke Mollema and Toms Skuji.
