New Alloy Focus JAM eMTB Updates All-Rounder All-Mountain eBike
Focus completely redesigned their JAM to be one eMTB for everyone. It brings semi-affordability with a carbon frame sporting sleek carbon looks. The revamped ebike still gets 150mm of reactive rear travel paired to 160mm forks and capable all-rounder geometry. And there are options for either a lighter & slimmer 600Wh battery or a bigger range 800Wh alternative.Focus says, If there was only one e-mountain bike in the world, the JAM would be the one for you. Its the manifestation of a trail bike, supercharging your confidence on any trail up or down.Focus JAM alloy all-mountain eMTBThat one ebike for all types of mountain riding feels about right. This is big enough travel to smooth out almost any type of rough & rocky terrain. But with powerful pedal-assist, its also gonna be efficient enough for less-demanding singletrack trail riding. So, yeah, the Jam seems like a solid middle ground for mountain bikers looking to buy just one ebike to ride it all.But frankly, the Jam family had gotten a bit confusing for me. Until now, the top 8-series was a conventional Horst-link 150/160mm 4-bar in carbon with a Bosch motor. Its 6-series was just an alloy iteration with the same Bosch motor. And then there was an alloy 7-series with an altogether different short-link 4-bar, shorter 150mm forks, and with a Shimano motor. (Photos/Focus)But now, Focus has gone back to the drawing board to simplify the Jam eMTB family, and to separate it a bit more clearly from their lighter Sam trail & burlier Thron enduro ebikes. Gone are the 7- & 8-series, as focus makes it simple again.Whats new?The 3 big updates seem to be a more refined aluminum frame, the latest Bosch Performance Line CX motor, and 2 new battery power options for lighter weight or greater range. The frame is now hydroformed from 7005 alloy to get the sleek seamless looks of carbon, including integration of the forward show mount into the bend in the toptube. Only in the stays and the bottom of the downtube do you see those classic big alloy welds.A new Bosch CXThe 5th generation motor update is just the latest iteration of their top Performance Line CX motor (BDU384Y). On paper it still looks essentially the same. Its still nominally 250W, a peak short-term power output up to 600W, delivering up to 340% of what you put in at the pedals, and puts out the same 85Nm of torque. But Bosch says this new generation motor is more responsive than ever to your input thanks to improved inertia, cadence & torque sensors inside. The result is a more natural riding feel, while still delivering full-power pedal-assist support. And its even said to be quieter running, and about 100g lighter at a claimed 2.8kg now.600Wh800WhBattery-wise, the new CX update also brings two new modular internal batteries from Bosch, too. The PowerTube now comes in 600Wh or 800Wh variants that snap right into the new alloy Jam downtube. The smaller battery lines up perfectly with the frame, while the larger hangs down a bit lower to make room for those extra electrons to carry you on 1/3 longer adventures. Then, Focus puts their own 2 different downtube covers over to make sure the battery is safe. Also, all frame sizes of the Jam are compatible with Boschs 250Wh range extender external battery, so you could end with either 850Wh or 1050Wh if you chose longer ebike rides.Geometry tweaksThe new Focus Jam geometry is quite similar to the outgoing ebike, but there are a few tweaks. The 4 frame sizes (S-XL) get a half-degree slacker headtube to 65. Reach actually shrinks 5mm across the board, while Stack gets a tad higher together with a bit taller fork heights (more so on the smaller bikes). Chainstays and effective seat angles are unchanged. But standover height actually comes down, making these eMTBs more manageable over challenging terrain, coupled with longer travel dropper seatposts (up to 150mm S, 180mm M & L, 210mm XL).Tech details7005 hydroformed aluminum frameset with 150mm of rear wheel travelclassic 4-bar suspension design with FOLD kinematicslatest Bosch Performance Line CX ebike powertrainnew Kiox & Purion displays on all eMTB modelsfully integrated internal cable routing through the upper headset bearingUDH, wired T-Type electronic or conventional mechanical derailleur compatibility29 x 2.6 tire clearanceBoost 148x12mm thru-axlePost Mount 180mm brake, with 200mm rotors34.9mm oversized seatpost for long travel droppersintegrated Airtag or Chipolo tracker mountingThe new and improved Jam is available now from your local Focus dealer. However, the 6.8 model is still very TBD on when it will actually ship, since it has some secret parts in its spec. There are four complete ebike builds all sharing the same alloy frame. And while the top-spec model focuses on a lighter weight build, the three more affordable options give buyers the choice of a lighter 600Wh or longer-range 800Wh internal battery.Focus JAM eMTB Pricing, options & availabilityFocus Jam 6.0For 8000, the Focus Jam 6.0 gives you a 160mm RockShox Lyrik Ultimate fork & Super Deluxe Select+ piggyback air shock, paired to a SRAM GX AXS Transmission wireless drivetrain, Code Silver 4-piston brakes, and DT Swiss HX 1700 alloy wheels. This top-tier build features the lighter, smaller battery to get a claimed complete ebike weight of 24.3kg, and gets the latest (and excellent) new Schwalbe Albert Trail Radial tires.Focus Jam 6.9With a somewhat confusing numbering scheme, the 6.9 drops to 6600 with a mechanical Shimano XT groupset and Fox 36 Performance Elite / Float X Performance piggyback shock suspension, and still the 600Wh battery. Or for +400 extra you get the longer-range 800Wh battery option. The Focus Jam 6.9 also gets alloy DT HX 1900 wheels with those Albert Radial tires.2025 Focus Jam 6.8The Focus Jam 6.8 lowers even more to 6000 with a 600Wh battery (6400 with 800Wh) and a unique claim in the spec sheet of a New SRAM Eagle 70 Transmission derailleur at a price that could only be mechanical. That means a direct mount T-type mechanical Eagle derailleur is coming soon from SRAM, but Focus hasnt yet teased us with an actual photo. Their PR pics for this model are essentially frame-only with just a schematic outline of the ebike build. The 6.8 also down-specs to RockShox Lyrik & Deluxe Select suspension, a lower Bosch Purion 200 display, and house brand wheels on Formula hubs, but apparently still the Albert Radial tires.Focus Jam 6.7Lastly, a 5000 Jam 6.7 600Wh build (5400 with 800Wh) is the most affordable with a Shimano Cues 110 drivetrain, RockShox Psylo Silver RC & Deluxe Select suspension, and house brand alloy wheels on Shimano hubs with EXO casing Maxxis Minion tires.Focus-bikes.comThe post New Alloy Focus JAM eMTB Updates All-Rounder All-Mountain eBike appeared first on Bikerumor.

New Fox Live Wire Neo electronic suspension delivers ideal balance of support and comfort in the blink of an eye
Fox has updated its electronic suspension system with the Live Wire Neo, benefiting from wire-free installation and the ability to open the rear shock in 1/70th of a second.Fox claims the Neo system is the fastest wireless protocol in cycling. The system uses the brand's Neo wireless communication technology that debuted on the Transfer Neo dropper post last month, and is said to deliver a signal from the fork and rear sensors to the controller in around one millisecond.Live Wire Neo is said to react so fast that it can instantly deliver the perfect balance of support and rider comfort, adapting at every moment on the trail, increasing efficiency.Fox says the system is available as an aftermarket upgrade for most trail bikes and enduro bikes, with riders needing a Live Valve Neo Kit priced at 449.99 / $399 / 499 / CAD$534.65, consisting of batteries and bump sensors. You will then need to choose between a Live Valve Neo Float X for 1,119 / $999 / 1,299 / CAD$1,399 or a Live Valve Neo DHX at 1,099 / $949 / 1,249 / CAD$1,269, depending on your discipline.Wireless Live WireThe Live Valve Neo DHX doesn't come with a coil. - FoxFox has developed on the same premise as its initial Live Valve technology released in 2018, but says advances in wireless communications have enabled it to ditch the wires of the previous system. The new system is more similar to RockShox Flight Attendant, and it sees a rechargeable external battery mounted to the shock and sensor. The Fox Live Valve Neo is designed for trail and enduro riders. - FoxSensors are used on the front and rear of the bike, mounted to the brake mounts, while the controller sits inside the rear shock. The brand says athletes in its RAD (Racing Applications Development) programme have been testing the system for the past three years at Enduro World Championships and Downhill World Cups.Faster reactionsThe Live Valve Neo Float X is aimed more at trail bikes. - FoxThe system reads terrain inputs up to 400 times per second, sensing, transmitting and adjusting the shock, all in 1/70th of a second.Fox says because the system is the fastest wireless protocol in cycling, it operates with no noticeable lag. This is said to increase efficiency down the trail and maximise every opportunity for speed.Electronic suspension is becoming commonplace in the top echelons of enduro racing. - FoxA magnetic latching solenoid is used in the shocks compression circuit, which is claimed to be faster than a motor and virtually silent.Unlike RockShox Flight Attendant, the sensor is mounted on the brake rotor on the Live Wire Neo. - FoxThe sensor on the fork is said to be so fast that it can detect a bump and actuate the shock before the rear wheel encounters the same bump. The suspension can sense climbing inputs. - FoxWhen the trail starts heading up, the suspension hardens, providing a supportive platform for tapping out climbs.Fox says the Neo system is so fast it even boosts your speed on jumps and can help you accelerate out of corners by increasing support on the exit.App integrationThe Live Valve Neo should be compatible with all bikes that use Fox's current shock line-up. - FoxThe system is also compatible with the Fox Bike App, where you can find setup tutorials, firmware updates and Live Valve Neo tunes. There are five preset tunes: Standard, Firm, Plush, Open and Closed, and you can store and customise your tunes to suit trail conditions or preferences, with Fox saying this gives World-Cup level tuning possibilities.

All Garmin bike computers contain GPS chips, so at the very minimum will let you know where youve been, how far youve ridden and at what speed. However, while lower-end models such as the Edge 130 will give you a breadcrumb-style trail, more advanced computers such as the Edge 530, Edge 830 and Edge 1040 Solar will offer extra features such as turn-by-navigation and route recalculation.Take a look at our full Garmin Edge bike computers buyers guide for a more detailed lowdown on the Edge range.Garmins wearables, by contrast, are more focused on fitness and health, and there are a lot out there. The brand has six ranges of smartwatch, although theres plenty of overlap in terms of specs and features.Basic features across nearly every model include step counting, sleep monitoring and smartphone notifications. As the models advance, they incorporate extra features such as not just tracking your heart rate but also measuring VO2 max and lactate threshold. The good news is that as the technology in both categories advances, the basic models are capable of more and more. So our advice is to not overreach beyond your budget, and to prioritise whats most important to you.Are you looking to improve your ride performance by tracking your stats? Or are you looking for a wayfinder on your ride thats more built-for-purpose than your smartphone? For more guidance on which device will best suit your needs, check out our guide on bike computers vs smartphones vs smartwatches. How to get a good deal on Black FridayDeals should never be taken at face value theyre not necessarily the bargains they might first appear to be. Read on for a few tips in spotting genuinely good Black Friday Garmin deals:Conduct a spot of pre-deal research. See what the experts, who have tested a product, have to say about it before you commit to buying. Head to our Garmin reviews and news page for information about the latest productsPut together a wishlist of items. Of course, you might get inspired while browsing and find an unexpected perfect cycling Christmas gift for someone but remember that retailers and markets do an exceptional job of convincing you to buy something you dont necessarily wantAs mentioned, dont assume a deal is genuinely good just because you see a huge discount against an RRP. The product might well have not been at the RRP price for months or even years prior the best way to get around this is to take note of product prices way ahead of Black FridayShop around if you see what looks like an amazing deal, add it to your shopping basket. But before you pay at the checkout, have a quick look at Googles price results to check its not cheaper elsewhere. And dont forget that retailers such as Currys and John Lewis promise to match prices, so hold them to it!Should I wait for Cyber Monday?Cyber Monday, as the name suggests, has always been something exclusively online. But as online shopping has increased, we imagine there will be less of a clear-cut divide between Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. Our advice this year is to not hang on until Cyber Monday to see if an already-discounted product drops any further in price. With so many more people shopping online, products are likely to sell out even faster.

This morning in French newspaper Lquipe, Eddy Merckx even admitted that Pogaar is above him. The Slovenian disclosed after the race that it was a silly move, but it all paid off in the end. Good news: PR bosss ebike returned thanks to tracker and a little help from a local Garda
A tracker on a bicycle was not enough to help PR boss Paul Hayes to find his VanMoof, which was stolen from his back garden at 4am on Sunday night. But while the electric tracker on the bike alone wasnt accurate enough, the bike was found thanks to a local Garda searching the nearby lanes. The VanMoof bike was in a locked mode with an alarm enabled, but Hayes thinks that the time of the theft, at 4am, and the stormy weather helped the thief carry it away with the alarm blaring.Yesterday afternoon, Paul Hayes, founder of Beachhut PR, tweeted: My bike was stolen from my back garden at 4am and is tracked to a neighbouring street. Only narrows it down to about 25 residences so just called around to a few to let them know that the bike has to be cut in half to stop the tracker. And now we wait for someone to move it.In a welcome update this morning, he added: Good news people. The amazing Garda Mark in Rathmines found my bike up a lane on the outer edge of the circle. He joked: My walking and searching, bribing local kids, you people, no help whatsoever it turns out a good copper and a dodgy tracker and an annoying bust e-bike company did it.Hayes said he has since added the tracking to the Find My app so that it will be more accurate in future.A Garda spokesperson this afternoon tweeted: Pauls e-bike was stolen from his back garden during over the weekend Paul had a tracker on it but it wasnt quite precise. Unable to locate it himself he gave his local station a bell. Garda Mark Donnellan was on-duty and went straight out on the beat. They added: Garda Donnellan managed to locate the bike and had it returned to Paul in time for the Monday morning commute! Trackers help but always report a theft to us and will we do our very best to see your property rightfully returned to you and a suspect identified.Good news people.
