- IRISHCYCLE.COMFilmgoers bop on their saddles to warm up for premiere of Dublin to Glastonbury by bicycle docSome filmmakers pull up to their premieres in limos joined by their entourages, but that wouldnt suit musician and filmmaker Nick Kelly. He made a feature-length documentary film covering how he gigged his way from Dublin to Glastonbury by bicycle. Instead of a motorcade, the music-filled Critical Mass Dublin will act as the entourage for Kelly and anybody going to the premiere of The Song Cycle. The I Bike Bop Critical Mass will start at the earlier time of 5:30pm sharp at the end of this month, on September 27th. The group will cycle around some of its normal areas in the city centre before dropping Kelly and anybody else with tickets off at the Irish Film Insitute for the premiere at 6.20pm.As previously reported, Kelly used Kickstarter to fund his film which covers how, in 2022, he cycled from his home in Ireland to the Glastonbury Festival in England. He carried his guitar, tent and everything else he needed to prove that it was possible to be a touring musician without driving. The film depicts the journey to the music festival with musical partner Sen Millar, who travelled by bus, and cameraman Cin OBrien, who filmed the trip.Tickets for the film must be booked in advance from the IFI and are reportedly selling fast. The screening forms part of the IFI Documentary Festival 2024 and will be followed by a Q&A with Kelly and Millar hosted by Tom Dunne. The Critical Mass Dublin will start from Parnell Square North at the earlier time of 5.30pm (not the normal 6pm).https://twitter.com/IFI_Dub/status/18335066481971081030 Yorumlar 0 hisse senetleri 215 Views
- BIKERUMOR.COMSpecialized Levo SL gets Genie Shock UpgradeIntroduced on the latest Stumpjumper, the Specialized Levo SL lightweight e-mountain bike now comes with their Genie rear shock for improved small bump compliance without giving up big hit support.Basically, its two already-launched products combined to make a better bike. The 2nd gen Levo SL launched in May 2023 and is one of the lightest trail eMTBs on the market. Its also a solid performer (read our review here) with 150mm travel and 160mm forks paired with a well-tuned and user-adjustable Horst Link suspension.Note the active air volume in blue and how it loses access to the extra chamber in the outer sleeve once the piston passes 70% of its stroke. Now, its getting the Genie shock, co-developed with Fox, which uses a two-stage air chamber thats higher volume for the first part of the stroke, then gets smaller in the last 30% of travel to ramp up more quickly to prevent bottom out.The Levo SL gets Genie shocks across the entire range (complete bike prices from $7,000 to $14,000 with alloy and carbon frame options), except for the coil shock-equipped Ohlins edition ($11,000).Specialized.comThe post Specialized Levo SL gets Genie Shock Upgrade appeared first on Bikerumor.0 Yorumlar 0 hisse senetleri 168 Views
- TDAGLOBALCYCLING.COMI Had A Blast: 2024 Tour dAfrique Riders Speak OutUPDATED September 10, 2024BY The TDA TeamINTour d'Afrique no comments I Had A Blast: 2024 Tour dAfrique Riders Speak OutThe 2024 Tour dAfrique Cycling Expedition finished in Cape Town about 4 months ago and the 2025 Tour dAfrique (limited spaces still available) will begin on January 17, 2025 in Cairo. What can the 2025 riders expect from their 4 month trip across Africa?I had a blast I met a lot of lovely people and made a few good, lifelong friends. And after getting an introduction to so many different countries on the tour, I have plans to return to several of them sooner rather than later for further adventures. I enjoyed everything, but I most appreciated the low-pressure environment since my style of riding involves a lot of stopping and enjoying myself/having fun along the way. Justine Wilke (USA)When people heard about me doing the Tour DAfrique the stock response was wow thats an experience of a lifetime. This cliche was met and surpassed for me. I travelled through countries that I never expected to visit. I passed though amazing landscapes, witnessed (in passing) people living their lives in a starkly different manner to my privileged and cosseted existence. I learnt that I have reserves of resilience and perseverance that I hoped I had. Richard Hughes (Australia)The staff was very experienced and professional. They were always available to answer questions and provide important support. The route organization in particular was excellent. Russ Trice (USA)An epic journey of a lifetime with amazing support from the TDA crew. Andrew Baldwin (UK)Tour dAfrique helped make my dream of bicycling across Africa a reality. I will forever be grateful for that. Im amazed at what I was able to accomplish. Sandi Gerling (USA)Its hard to imagine a better run trip of this nature. I was incredibly impressed by the staff and how they were able to keep all of us well cared for while navigating a seemingly constant series of disruptions. Geoff Buhn (USA)A ride that is very challenging but also immensely rewarding. An opportunity to not only see a chunk of Africa but to experience it with all your senses. Judith Gold (Canada)Simply special, my vocabulary does not have the ability top describe the experience adequalety. It has to be experienced to appreciate how special it is. Johan du Toit (South Africa)RELATEDTOURTour d'AfriqueThe trans-African crossing from Cairo to Cape Town has long been one of the worlds epic journeys and an iconic goal for global adventurers. - BIKERUMOR.COMWolf Tooth Components Bike Tire Pressure App Takes the Guesswork Out of Low Pressure InflationWolf Tooth Components has gone digital. Dont worry. Their precision-machined parts arent going anywhere, but to help you get the most out of your ride, WTC just released their first app the Bike Tire Pressure Calculator. WTC is not the first company to release their own tire pressure app, but they wanted to address their own specific tire pressure needs. Specifically, fat bikes and bikes with wider tires. According to WTC, the calculator is based on the Wolf Tooth philosophy that lower pressures are better for performance, and the lowest possible pressure consistent with terrain, riding style, and equipment is better. The WTC Bike Tire Pressure Calculator is available for free in the Apple App Store and Google Play, and starts with the option to choose from Advanced or Basic options. The Advanced setting gives you more input parameters to get a more precise pressure recommendation. Basic will get you off and running with half those inputs. Simply punch in each field and the app spits out precise front and rear pressure recommendations. Advanced:Weight of Bike + Rider + GearTube/Tubeless/InsertsCasing TypeRiding ConditionsInflation Temperature/Riding TemperatureTire/wheel DiameterSidewall Tire WidthMeasured Tire WidthInflation PressureRiding PressureBasic:Rider WeightEbikeRiding ConditionsSidewall Tire widthInflation PressureFirst ImpressionsIve been using the WTC Bike Tire Pressure Calculator for about a month on gravel, mountain, and fat bikes. So far, the recommended pressures are almost exactly in line with what I would typically run which is a good thing. I spend a lot of time riding and testing different tires, wheels, components, etc., and Id like to think that Im pretty good at choosing the right tire pressure by this point (and being able to feel the difference). One of the most critical parts to getting the right tire pressure is considering the entire weight of not just you, but your bike, water, gear, etc. Before your next ride, guess how much you weigh completely ready to ride with your bike and all gear/water/food, and jump on a scale. You might be surprisedThe one thing that the app has convinced me, is that I should be running my front tire pressure 1 or 2psi lower than I have been. I typically run 1 or 2psi lower in the front than the rear, but the app often suggested 2-4psi lower, which I now use. But for those that dont ride almost every day and have decades of experience dialing in tire pressures, the WTC app seems like it will give excellent advice on where to start. The app is also a handy way to store your pressure preferences for multiple bikes, or even the same bike with multiple tires. Note that you have to click on the My Bikes tab first, then hit the + to add a bike before calculating tire pressure to save it. Theres also a Temperature Compensation calculator which isnt that important when youre riding a normal bike in the summer, but it becomes far more critical in the winter. If youre filling a tire at 72F and you want your tire to 5psi once youre outside in 0F weather, you have to inflate that tire to 8.1psi while inside. You can use the Compensation calculator alone, or it is integrated into the Advanced Pressure Calculator. The app wont work for everyone as there isnt an option for road bikes with tires narrower than 30mm, and some wheel and tire sizes (like the new Surly 24 x 6.2 fat bike tires) arent included. Also, it could use a few improvements like replacing invisible cursors to let you know what field youre typing in. But like any app, it can be updated in the future. For a free app, it seems to work pretty well and is highly recommended if your riding buddies keep telling you your tires are way too hardwolftoothcomponents.comThe post Wolf Tooth Components Bike Tire Pressure App Takes the Guesswork Out of Low Pressure Inflation appeared first on Bikerumor.0 Yorumlar 0 hisse senetleri 161 Views
