Leeze CH 60 PRO GX Gravel Wheelset on Test
Deep, light and affordable, the CH 60 PRO GX sees Leeze combine 60 mm deep carbon rims, carbon spokes and proprietary hubs at a price well below most rivals. Only one wheelset in the test weighs less. The question is whether that much performance for the money can hold its own in our big gravel wheel group test. This wheelset was tested as part of our big 2026 gravel wheel group test you can find an overview of all the wheels on test here.Leeze CH 60 PRO GX | 1,323 g | 1,599 | Manufacturer websiteLeeze are a German brand from the Mnsterland region, offering deep-section rims and carbon spokes at competitive prices through their PRO range. The CH 60 PRO GX combines 60 mm deep hookless rims with Sapim carbon spokes and proprietary hubs. Its clearly aimed at racers who want plenty of performance for their money without compromising on weight. That makes the Leeze both some of the lightest and most affordable wheelsets in this test, and out on the course it quickly prove that this approach works.Deep and Light The Leeze Carbon Gravel Wheelset in DetailThe Leeze CH 60 PRO GX is clearly designed for racing, as its 60 mm deep rims make immediately obvious. Both front and rear are among the deepest in the test. Despite this, the Leeze tips our scales at just 1,323 g, making it the second-lightest wheelset on test, although somewhat heavier than Leezes claimed 1,280 g. The rims measure 28 mm internally and 35 mm externally, and our 45 mm Continental Competition control tire grows to 46.2 mm at the front and 46.5 mm at the rear, protruding visibly beyond them. The hookless rims are optimized for tires from 40 to 45 mm wide and approved for pressures up to 3.5 bar.Going deep At 60 mm deep front and rear, the Leeze have some of the deepest rims in the test.Hookless The hookless rims are approved for pressures up to 3.5 bar and optimised for tires measuring 4045 mm wide.Slim waist At just 35 mm wide externally, the rims look almost old-school when paired with wide tires.Leeze use 18 Sapim CX carbon spokes per wheel, laced to their proprietary PRO hubs with a pawl-based freehub mechanism. Our test wheels use standard bearings, although you can choose from several ceramic bearing options for a relatively modest additional charge. The freehub has a slightly shrill sound, although its still pleasantly muted when new. Visually, the Leeze are nicely understated, with their relatively narrow rims lending them a slightly traditional appearance. At just 1,599, theyre among the cheapest wheels in the test, although youd never guess it from their appearance. Despite the low price and high-quality components, Leeze also offer lifetime crash replacement alongside the statutory warranty.Carbon for everyone The 18 Sapim CX carbon spokes per wheel come at a remarkably competitive price.In-house design The proprietary PRO hub uses a pawl freehub mechanism that produces a slightly shrill but relatively muted sound.Smooth Operator The Leeze CH 60 PRO GX on TestThe Leeze makes its appetite for speed obvious from the very first pedal strokes. Acceleration is excellent and thoroughly entertaining, with low weight and high stiffness combining to deliver a light, direct and efficient ride. On tarmac in particular, it ranks among the best wheelsets in the test. The stiffness also remains well balanced: while the CH 60 PRO GX is slightly stiffer, and therefore harsher, than the Roval, it never takes things to extremes. In terms of handling, the Leeze feels more like conventional road racing wheelset adapted for gravel, and we mean that as a compliment. It turns in directly but is still forgiving enough to negotiate slippery corners and trails with confidence. On rough terrain, youll need to pay a little more attention and choose your line carefully. Nevertheless, theres still enough compliance for the wheels to track the ground rather than constantly skipping across it. For a racing wheelset, comfort is surprisingly good, although the wide tires undoubtedly do much of the work. Overall, the Leeze delivers a lively, efficient and well-rounded ride that successfully combines road racing responsiveness with genuine gravel capability.A Close Call? The Leeze CH 60 PRO GX in the Wind TunnelOn the road, the Leeze impresses with lively handling and an entertaining ride. But how much aerodynamic performance do its 60 mm deep rims deliver? Subjectively, quite a lot. The Leeze feels exceptionally efficient, produces a noticeable sail effect and seems on a par with the NEWMEN, although its high stiffness undoubtedly adds to the sensation of speed. The wind tunnel largely confirms this impression. With a rider on board at 36 km/h, the Leeze requires 3.1 W less than our reference wheelset, the DT Swiss GRC 1100, equivalent to a 22.3-second advantage over 40 km, though it remains just within the measurement tolerance. Statistically, thats not a measurable advantage, but the riding experience and wind tunnel results align closely. Alongside the deep rims, the tire may help explain the result. We always measure wheel and tire as a complete system, and the Continental Competition keeps a nicely compact profile on the relatively narrow Leeze rims. Conclusions about the Leeze CH 60 PRO GXFew wheelsets in this test offer as much speed for the money as the Leeze CH 60 PRO GX. Low weight, impressive acceleration and a road bike-like ride make it a lot of fun on gravel, and its deep rims back that up with convincing wind tunnel results. It misses out on an award by the narrowest of margins, not through any real weakness, but because it never quite leads in a single discipline. For fast racing on 40 to 45 mm tires, 1,599 buys one of the smartest choices in the test.TopsLightweight and livelyBalanced, road-bike-like rideExcellent value for moneyLifetime crash replacementFlopsRims slightly narrow for wide gravel tiresRough trails require careful line choiceMore information at leeze.de.The Test FieldThis wheelset was tested as part of our big 2026 gravel wheel group test you can find an overview of all the wheels on test here. All wheels on test: CADEX Max GXR | DT Swiss GRC 1100 DICUT 50 | ENVE G SES 6.7 Pro | Fulcrum Sharq GR | HUNT 5AM Gravel Limitless Ti_UD | Leeze CH 60 PRO GX | Light Bicycle AG48 | NEWMEN Streem G.62 CS | OQUO RP50LTD CS | Reserve 48|53 GR | Roval Terra Aero CLX | Vision SC 45 i30 | Zipp 303 XPLR SWDer Beitrag Leeze CH 60 PRO GX Gravel Wheelset on Test erschien zuerst auf GRAN FONDO Cycling Magazine.
