Residents to continue road-closing protest on Dublins Richmond Road
Residents on Richmond Road in Dublin will continue their road-closing protest this Friday, October 30th, again claiming Dublin City Council has been inactive and has delayed promised responses to the rat running and speeding on the road.A spokesperson for the Richmond Road & Grace Park Avenue Residents Association told IrishCycle.com that the group plans to continue what has become monthly protests. On Friday, this includes closing the road for an hour and a half, from 17:00-18:30, ahead of the regular road closure for Shelbourne FC mens team home matches.Despite Dublin City Councils claims of engagement and collaboration, we continue to experience delays and changing goalposts, the groups spokesperson said. They said local councillors have supported an area-wide traffic assessment since the end of 2025, but delays have followed.Back in August, Dublin City Council confirmed that it has committed to preparing an area-wide traffic study to assess the impact of any changes to existing traffic arrangements.A spokesperson for the council said that a tender brief for an area-wide study would be ready for comment from the councillors and the residents association, by the end of August 2026.
