CyclistHunt claims its new 5AM Gravel Limitless wheels are the most aero of 12 wheelsets when fitted with 50mm tyresHunt has launched its latest 5AM Gravel Limitless aero gravel wheels. The British brand says that its wind tunnel tests showed the lowest drag of 12 wheelsets it tested, when fitted with 50mm Vittoria Terreno Dry T30 tyres, and the lowest weight at 1,317g with carbon spokes.The wheels are aero optimised for tyres from 45mm to 50mm wide, although theyre compatible with tyres from 40mm to 60mm in width designed for hookless rims. Prices start at 1,999.Deeper front/shallower rearHunt follows a deeper front/shallower rear design, which it says allows it to capture the aero gains of the more laminar airflow at the bikes leading edge, while keeping the weight low from a shallower, narrower wheel at the rear, where airflow is already turbulent.Its a design feature too of Rovals gravel and road wheelsets.In Hunts case, the 5AM Gravel Limitless front wheel has a 54mm deep, 45mm wide profile. There are oversized 9mm wide hookless rim beads to help reduce the chances of a pinch flat, which incorporate its low density polymer to help reduce the weight relative to an all-carbon rim bead. The internal rim width is 27mm.At the rear, the wheel is 49mm deep and 38mm wide with a 5.5mm rim bead and the same 27mm internal width.The Hunt 5AM Gravel Limitless wheels are available either with carbon spokes or with steel spokes, when the claimed weight increases to 1,447g. In both cases, there are internal spoke nipples and bladed spokes for aero efficiency.Both use Hunt H_Ratchet hubs with a 48-tooth ratchet freehub, with the carbon spoked wheels available with a choice of CeramicSpeed or stainless steel bearings.Hunt 5AM Gravel Limitless wheelset pricingThe Hunt 5AM Gravel Limitless wheels are already race-proven, with Hannah Shell winning the Gravel Mexico race and Cecily Decker placing third at Unbound 200.With carbon spokes, theyre priced at 2,799 / $3,299 / 3,299 with CeramicSpeed Alpha bearings or 2,449 / $2,899 / 2,899 with stainless steel bearings.
