Emer Heverin finished 24th in the junior womens time trial at the UCI Road World Championships in Montral on Tuesday 22 September, on her first appearance at a world championships.The 17-year-old covered the 10.7km course in 16:43.62 at 38.38km/h, 1:26.11 behind the winner. She was 24th at the 5.8km check and held the position to the line, with the 23rd-fastest time over the closing 4.9km.Maria Okruciska of Poland took the title in 15:17.51 at 41.99km/h, fastest at the intermediate check and over the closing section. Yana Decruyenaere of Belgium was second at 12.25 seconds and Aalia Clay of Great Britain third at 24.51, just 0.07 seconds ahead of Anja Grossmann.Heverin comes to Montral from a strong home season, having finished third in the Rs na mBan time trial at Kilkenny Castle earlier this month, 0.88 seconds off the win, and eleventh overall in that race.
