Department of Transport intervention delays publication of Luas Cork submissions
Transport Infrastructure Ireland has said this morning that the planned publication of submissions on the Cork Luas tram line project will be delayed until next week because the Department of Transport wants to be briefed first. As reported on Monday, IrishCycle.com had requested the submissions related to the Bishopstown GAA or Highfield RFC sports grounds, and a cycle route diversion planned to be routed via the religious grounds run by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart on Western Road, but this was rejected by the authority, calling the requested release at the end of July contrary to the public interest, but they stated that all the submissions for the project would be released in September. After the refusal to release the records under Freedom of Information was covered, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) contacted IrishCycle.com yesterday and said: With regard to the subject of your AIE request, it is intended that the requested submissions will be published tomorrow on the Luas Cork Website. But this morning, a spokesperson for TII said the Department of Transport intervened and requested a briefing before the submissions were released. The spokesperson said that they now intend to publish the submissions next week, after the Department is briefed. A spokesperson for the Department said that it is reviewing the material and that publication of the submissions may still happen this week.
