Matthew Brennan (Team Visma-Lease a Bike) won stage 11 of the Vuelta a Espaa in Lorca on Wednesday 2 September, his third victory of the race, beating Bryan Coquard and Jordi Meeus in the sprint.The 21-year-old took the 153.8km stage from Cartagena in 3:17:18, with Magnus Cort fourth and his teammate Wout van Aert fifth. It follows his wins in Manosque on stage 2 and Roquetes on stage 5.Brennan is the first rider to take three stage wins on his Grand Tour debut since Tadej Pogaar at the 2019 Vuelta, and the first sprinter to do so since Fernando Gaviria at the 2017 Giro. He moves up one place to second in the points classification on 117, behind Van Aert on 174. Meeus has now finished in the top three on three occasions.Enric Mas keeps the red jersey with the general classification unchanged at the top 1:18 ahead of Primo Rogli and 1:39 ahead of Felix Gall, with Oscar Onley fourth and Richard Carapaz fifth. Santiago Buitrago leads the mountains on 31, Onley the young riders and Decathlon CMA CGM the teams.
