Tadej Pogaar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) beat Enric Mas in a two-up sprint in Castell on Thursday 27 August to take his third stage win of the Vuelta a Espaa, having won three of the first six stages.Pogaar dropped the field with 24km of the 177.4km stage from Alcossebre remaining, but Mas caught him before the final summit and the pair worked together to the line, where the Slovenian had the better kick. Ramses Debruyne was third at 46 seconds, with Richard Carapaz and Harold Tejada on the same time.It equals his tally from the 2019 Vuelta, when his first win came on stage 9 and his third on stage 20. Three wins in the opening six stages is a feat not managed since scar Freire in 2007.Mas moves to second overall at 3:34, pushing Primo Rogli to third at 4:21, with Carapaz fourth and Felix Gall fifth. Pogaar leads the points classification on 102 and the mountains on 29, those jerseys worn by Wout van Aert and Mas. Oscar Onley holds the young rider classification and Decathlon CMA CGM the teams. Pogaar was also named most combative.Irish RidersA costly day for both Irish riders on a stage that split the race apart. Eddie Dunbar (Pinarello Q36.5) came home 118th at 26:46 and drops 47 places to 82nd overall, with Darren Rafferty (EF Education-EasyPost) 120th in the same group and down 17 to 123rd.
