The compact TQ HPR60 motor provides wonderfully harmonious assistance, without ever feeling like an intrusive foreign body. While the Checkpoint+ has to take a back seat to more potent drive systems on steep ramps when it comes to pure assistance, the overall riding experience feels much more like classic gravel biking. It noticeably preserves more of the Checkpoints analogue character, and delivers that gentle tailwind exactly when your legs start getting heavy on a long adventure ride. However, clever energy management is required here. If you clock up a lot of elevation and constantly demand the highest support mode from the motor, you will quickly drain the compact 360 Wh battery and have to budget your range carefully. When the battery runs completely flat and the motor shuts off, the heavy bike becomes noticeably sluggish.When it comes to long-distance comfort, the Checkpoint+ plays its trump cards perfectly. The clever interplay of the RockShox suspension fork at the front and the isolating IsoSpeed system at the rear dampens harsh impacts very reliably.
