Hope has released its new 20mm Gravity Stem, featuring a super-short high-stack design that's said to give riders a more upright riding position, distributing weight to the centre of the bike.The British brand says it has created the stem following feedback from some of the fastest World Cup downhill and enduro riders.Hope says the stem brings the rider's grip position more in line with the steering axis of the fork.The stem gives you an extra 35mm stack, and the brand says it's possible to use it reversed, enabling you to run 20mm of negative reach.Weve seen racers such as Reece Wilson and Hattie Harnden use negative reach stems over the past year, with Wilson taking second place at the Pal Arinsal round of the World Cup. Scott Windsor / Our Media While other reverse reach stems exist, most notably Be More Bikes' Ride Reverse models, Hopes Gravity Stem looks to enable you to experiment with the setup for a fraction of the cost.Its not quite as extreme as the Ride Reverse models, which can boost stack height by up to 150mm; but it appears Hope has democratised the tech, with the Gravity Stem retailing for 115 / $159.40 / 144.50. There are plenty of colours to pick from. Hope The stem is CNC machined from a solid billet of 2014 T6 aluminium, and is designed for oversized 31.8mm and 35mm bars.It is available in Black, Silver, Smoke, Blue, Red, Purple & Orange to match Hope's extensive range of anodised components.
