Gardagive 14-hour window for hit-and-run crash as victim found on Co Kildare road
A man in his 40s who was knocked off his bicycle by a hit-and-run driver was found on the side of the road after the crash happened sometime between 10.30pm on Thursday night and 12.30pm on Friday afternoon, according to Garda.A spokesperson at the Garda Press Office said: Garda are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the R445, Dublin Road, Co Kildare. The collision involving a cyclist is believed to have occurred between approximately 10:30pm on Thursday 9th July 2026, and 12:30pm today Friday 10th July 2026 when the cyclist was discovered.The deceased man, aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has since been removed to Naas General Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course, the spokesperson said.The Garda spokesperson said: Garda are appealing to anyone who may have been travelling on the R445 Dublin Road between Kildare Town and the roundabout at Junction 12 of the N7 between 10:30pm last night and 12:30pm today to come forward.They added: Those who were travelling in the area during this time and who may have camera footage, including dash cam or mobile phone recordings are asked to make this footage available to investigating garda. Anyone with information is asked to contact Kildare Garda Station on 045 527 730, or the Garda confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.A press release issued this evening outlined that the road remains closed with local diversions in place.
