A man in his 20s was knocked off his bicycle and left on the road with serious injuries this morning after the hit-and-run driver left the scene of the collision on Shangan Road, Dublin 9, shortly before 8am.A Garda spokesperson said: Garda and emergency services attended the scene of a serious hit and run road traffic collision that occurred this morning, Tuesday, June 9th, 2026 at approximately 7.45am.The collision involved a car and a male pedal cyclist. The male pedal cyclist, aged in his 20s, was taken from the scene to the Mater Misericordiae Hospital with serious injuries. The car left the scene, said the spokesperson in a Garda Press Office statement.Garda said the road is currently closed and that the scene is being technically examined by local Crime Scene Investigators. The spokesperson said: Garda are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
