I couldn't be more excited: Cinelli and Omnium pair up to make one very cool cargo bike
If you head into town, the bikes people are riding are very different from only a few years ago. Of course, electric bikes particularly the hire and delivery kinds continue their ascendency. But one quieter shift has been in the cool bike of choice: people are no longer pulling skids on fixies, theyre now loading up cargo bikes. This changing of the guard, across the world of bicycle couriers and, well, hipsters has been encapsulated in one spectacularly unexpected collaboration launching today. Cinelli and Omnium have teamed up to create the Omnium x Cinelli Supercargo, a cargo bike thats a mash-up of their respective styles and designed to carry everything fast. Cinelli The Supercargo has been created and launched to celebrate the two brands sponsorship of the Cycle Messenger World Championships 2026, which takes place in Cinellis home city of Milan, from 27 May to 1 June. Cinelli has long been associated with urban riding. It has released many popular fixed-gear bicycles with an eye on city riding and racing. The company says the Cinelli Mash, first released in 2009 in collaboration with the San Francisco bike shop, was the worlds first urban-specific performance track frame. Ever since, the continued collaboration has been synonymous with fixed-gear riding. But Cinelli isnt against embracing cyclings cargo bike trend in fact, the opposite is true. Cinellis chairman, Victor Luis, says: I couldn't be more excited about our collaboration with Omnium. We both bring our unique skills and histories to this one it's a mashup of Omnium's functionality and ruggedness blended with Cinelli's Milanese design language, all driven by our shared passion and love for the global messenger community. The bike celebrates Cinelli and Omnium's sponsorship of the Messenger World Championships. Cinelli The bike uses a combination of Columbus and Omnium tubing. Cinelli Omnium was founded in 2012 by the Danish bicycle courier Jimmi Bargisen, who won the Messenger World Championships in 2018 and 2019. It has also become synonymous with couriers and urban riding. Omniums CEO, Matias Ovens, says working with Cinelli has been amazing. Obviously being aligned on our passion for bikes, but also combining our aesthetics and culture has been a great start to a hopefully long-lasting relationship. And naturally the timing couldnt have been better, being able to launch during CMWC, which we usually take part in, and then in Milan. It just makes sense, adds Ovens. An iconic colourscheme Each frame is numbered. Cinelli In terms of the aesthetic, the Supercargo has Cinellis iconic Azzuro Laser colour scheme, as featured on the brands Olympic and World Championship-winning Laser track bike. Cinelli also recently used the colour on its retro Supercorsa remake. Underneath that finish is a bike made from Columbus and Omniums own tubing, which blends classic Italian steel heritage with modern cargo functionality. Full builds come with mudguards, DT Swiss wheels, Schwalbe tyres and a SRAM Apex drivetrain. Cinelli That blend will only be available for now to a select few, with just 120 of the limited-edition Supercargos being produced. It will be available in three sizes (small, medium and large) for 3,500 or 1,800 for the frameset.
