Man in his 40s dies after road traffic incident, Garda suspect other road users involved
A man in his 40s, who was cycling on the Dublin Road on the outskirts of Limerick City, has died after sustaining injuries in an incident yesterday. The Garda Press Office confirmed to this website that initial enquiries suggest that other vehicles were involved in this incident. They are seeking witnesses and camera footage to develop a clearer picture of the incident. In a statement, the Garda Press Office said: Garda are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic incident on the Dublin Road, Mountshannon, Limerick City on Tuesday 26th May 2026. The incident involving a bicycle occurred shortly after 2:00pm.Its understood that the man was helped by passers-by before he left the scene and travelled to a domestic residence. After this, he was treated by the emergency services, but he was pronounced deceased yesterday afternoon.The Garda statement outlines that the incident happened on Dublin Road in Limerick City, in the townland of Mountshannon, between Annacotty and The Mackey Roundabout at the N7 interchange. The exact location has not been made public at this time. A Garda spokesperson said: Garda are appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident to come forward.
