Rs Tailteann 2026 Stage 4 ReportStage 4 of the 2026 Rs Tailteann delivered the races most decisive day yet as the peloton returned to the Wicklow Mountains for the first time in several years. The demanding route from Carlow to Baltinglass featured the iconic climb of the Wicklow Gap, creating relentless pressure from the opening kilometres. Riders were immediately forced into survival mode as the pace intensified on the exposed mountain roads. The race saw repeated attacks on the major climbs, with the general classification contenders finally forced into direct battle. The long ascents and technical descents split the race into small groups, while several earlier breakaway riders were gradually caught as the favourites increased the tempo through the Wicklow Mountains. The decisive moments came on the final climbs approaching Baltinglass, where the strongest climbers launched aggressive accelerations in an attempt to gain time before the final stage. The attritional nature of the terrain left only a select lead group contesting the finale, with significant gaps opening behind across the GC standings. The stage was won by Tom Martin (Wheelbase Cabtech Castelli) after a selective finish in Baltinglass, with the result dramatically reshaping the overall classification ahead of the concluding stage to Dunboyne. Conn McDunphy (APS Pro Cycling) now wears the race leaders yellow jersey. The Wicklow mountains once again proved to be the defining battleground of the race, rewarding riders who could combine climbing strength with tactical positioning over a brutal day in the saddle.Rs Tailteann Stage 4 Photos by Lorraine OSullivan [See image gallery at www.irishcyclingnews.com] Results Rs Tailteann
