Comfort and speed are not opposites new Rapha Brevet system has extra storage and high visibility for "stupid long rides"
Raphas Brevet collection has always been targeted at endurance riding, but the new 2026 range ups the ante and has been designed to meet the demands of ultra racing. Rapha says the latest collection is a major evolution of the Brevet range, following a continued evolution of the Pro Team collection and a focus on Rapha getting back to being brilliant at what we do. Ultan Coyle, Raphas chief creative officer and three-time Transcontinental Race finisher, says: Brevet is built around a simple idea: over long distances, comfort and speed are not opposites. They rely on each other. Comfort keeps you moving. Speed helps you cover ground efficiently. The Brevet collection has been reimagined as a complete modular system consisting of five items that will carry you through ultra rides. Brevet Cargo Bib Shorts III The Rapha Brevet shorts use Italian fabric and have four pockets. Rapha At the base of the system is the new Brevet Cargo Bib Shorts III. The bib shorts use lightweight Italian fabrics and have a new Endurance Seamless Chamois for multi-day comfort, alongside four pockets. The womens bib shorts feature 'nature-break optimisation'. In other words, a high-stretch upper means it's easy to pull the shorts down and Rapha says the fabric will easily return to its position so your chamois doesnt change position. Jana Kesenheimer, 2024 Transcontinental Race winner, has used the new Brevet system, describing it as what we need for stupid long rides. The nature-break solution in the Cargo Bib Shorts probably saved me 1.5 hours over the 4,800km Transcontinental Race, saving precious time (and nerves). At the same time, the elastic pull-down straps added extra comfort to my shoulders, Kesenheimer said. Theres a small pocket on the back of the bib shorts that not only keeps your keys secure for a short post-work T-shirt ride, but also safely stores a GPS tracker during a long race, she added. Brevet Merino and Lightweight Jersey III The Rapha Brevet Merino jersey. Rapha For your mid-layer, the collection includes the Brevet Merino and Lightweight Jersey III. These include the new Brevet Air Pocket, which Rapha says is a an innovative floating five-pocket system that maximises carrying capacity and airflow. The rear pocket is said to lift away from the body when its loaded up. Alongside an integrated mesh panel, this is intended to prevent heat build-up on your lower back and keep things stable across rough terrain. Rapha As a protective layer, Rapha has produced the Brevet Wind Gilet III. The vest is said to be a resilient, high-visibility barrier against wind and road spray. It has a two-way zipper for easy access and temperature control, and is said to work seamlessly with the Brevet Air Pocket. Brevet Packable Backpack The Brevet Packable Backpack has up to 10 litres of capacity and can be packed down. Rapha The final piece in Raphas new ultra-distance 'system' is the Brevet Packable Backpack. Rapha says this is ideal for packing a nights meal before powering on to a bivvy or refuge. It has up to 10 litres of capacity, reflective stripes for visibility and, like the complete Brevet system, is said to be compressible for easy stowage. New Brevet stripes Rapha has redesigned the classic Brevet stripes to be lighter and more flexible. Rapha As part of theBrevet collections refresh, Rapha has also updated its most notable feature: the two horizontal stripes, which have always featured on the Brevet jerseys, gilets and jackets. The new stripes are said to be lighter and more flexible than previous versions for easier movement and extra comfort. The stripes also have high-visibility materials to ensure riders are seen when headed into dark, remote areas long after the sun has set.
