IrishCycle reader survey 2026 your views are wanted
Hello readers,I am running a survey to get feedback from readers, subscribers, and potential subscribers. The future of IrishCycle.com may be shaped by the responses received in this survey.IrishCycle.com is reader-funded journalism. Its a website which is mainly focused on news and analysis of active travel and greenways, public transport, road safety, decarbonising transport, and the politics of road space. Often the focus is on particular areas where value can be added with detail or context, or covering full issues which not reported on in other media outlets. For newer readers or those just trying to understand what this is all about: There are a number of examples out there of partly/fully reader or listener-funded journalism, including the local Dublin Inquirer newspaper, the Second Captains podcast, The Guardian newspaper, and the US-based BikePortland.org, which covers similar issues to IrishCycle.com.The last two examples run under the open access model, although both also sell advertising. IrishCycle.com is an open-access publication without advertising. This means there can be a stark imbalance between readers (around 90,000-400,000 last month, depending on the metric used) and subscribers (494-498 monthly subscribers). Those subscribers fund my work: freelance content, over 700 per year for hosting IrishCycle.com, a range of other tools and services to keep the website going and to help produce its journalism.Thank you very much,Cian GintyEditor, IrishCycle.comFill in the survey here.
