Cervlo Caledonia gets increased tyre clearance, semi-integrated cables and a 53g weight reduction
CyclistCervlo Caledonia gets increased tyre clearance, semi-integrated cables and a 53g weight reductionCervlo has updated its Caledonia endurance bike, increasing tyre clearance to 36mm and introducing a new cockpit with cable routing under the stem as well as a T47A bottom bracket, bringing it in line with modern bike trends. At the same time, theres a 53g reduction in frame weight. While the more premium Caledonia-5 had a minor update in 2024 to increase tyre clearance and compliance, the lower-priced Caledonia has just received updates to bring its performance more in line with the higher-end model and increase intercompatibility.Cervlo claims its the perfect bike for the modern road rider. The 2026 Cervlo Caledonias 36mm tyre clearance is 2mm wider than the previous model and you can now fit 34mm tyres with mudguards. Cervlo has also tweaked the Caledonias geometry, adding 1mm to the fork offset to adjust the trail to 32mm tyres. Geometry is now the same as the Caledonia-5 and is claimed to offer stable, predictable handling.According to Cervlo, the frames clean lines ensure aero efficiency, while theres a reduction in the seat tube surface area that, along with the added clearance, increases ride comfort.Compatible with integrated cockpits or a standard stemCables are now semi-integrated rather than external as previously, running into the head tube under the stem. The new Caledonia has a D-shaped steerer similar to other Cervlos, so that it can also be set up fully integrated. The design is more modular and less complex than that on the Caledonia-5, and theres a round 1in stem interface to offer compatibility with standard stems.Further redesign efforts help tidy up the cable routing for mechanical front derailleurs, and it includes a blanking plug so that the Caledonia can be set up 1x.The update sees a switch from Cervlos older press-fit BBright bottom bracket to a threaded T47A standard, again following the industry trend to concentrate to a small number of threaded bottom bracket standards.Cervlo says the 54g frame weight reduction brings the Caledonias weight down to closer to the Caledonia-5 and claims performance is similar, just at a lower price. So why now choose the Caledonia-5 over the Caledonia? Cervlo points to the internal storage on the Caledonia-5 thats not present on the Caledonia, the augmented aerodynamics through the 5s aero D-shaped seatpost and its more sophisticated carbon layup. The Caledonia-5 also comes in higher spec builds, is lower in weight and, Cervlo claims, is more compliant.2026 Cervlo Caledonia specs and pricesThe 2025 Caledonia is available in four specs:Caledonia Force with Reserve 40|44 4LD wheels, priced at 5,200 / $6,500 / 6,499Caledonia Rival with Vision Team i23 Straight Pull wheels, priced at 4,000 / $4,850 / 3,999Caledonia 105 Di2 with Vision Team i23 Straight Pull wheels, also priced at 4,000 / $4,850 / 3,999Caledonia 105 with Vision Team i23 J-Bend spoke wheels, priced at 3,000 / $3,300 / 2,999Theres a choice of navy blue or mid-brown frame colours.
