Following a season in which he won all 12 races he participated in and surpassed Sven Nyss 50 World Cup victories, all eyes were on the flying Dutchman as he was set to break the rainbow jersey record he shared with Erik de Vlaeminck. After forming a leading trio on the first lap with Tibor Del Grosso and Thibau Nys whod go on to finish second and third respectively Van der Poel rode away and extended his lead to over 40 seconds to soak up a monumental win. Whether hell now take a break from cyclocross is still up in the air. The 31-year-old has kept mum on any potential retirement from the discipline, despite previously mentioning wanting to stop at a peak in his career. Lucinda Brand wins second World Championship titleUCI CXThe Netherlands shone at their home Worlds in Hulst. Lucinda Brand was the hot favourite coming off a cyclocross season that saw her win a phenomenal 18 races while finishing on the podium at the National and European Championships. She last won the World Championships in 2021, finishing second in 2022, 2024 and 2025 with a third place in 2023. The majority of her defeats came at the hands of Fem van Empel, who has taken a break from her cycling career, so wasnt lining up this time around.Brand looked determined early in the race, racing hard to get to the front after Puck Pieterse took an early lead, but she had to overcome a late crash that let Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado catch up before leaving her compatriot behind for victory. Pieterse was also forced to pick herself back up after hitting the ground to make it an all-Dutch podium. With Tudor Pro Cycling, Pinarello-Q36.5 Pro Cycling and Cofidis getting automatic invites, race organisers chose to select French team TotalEnergies and Spanish outfit Caja Rural-Seguros RGA as the wildcards, with this years race starting in Barcelona. That meant leaving out Bas Tietemas Unibet-Rose Rockets, who had been confident of their inclusion after switching their identity from Dutch to French, adding a plethora of former Tour stage winners and even having their star rider at the route announcement. Similarly the Vuelta a Espaa had two wildcards to give out, which went to the other two Spanish ProTeams Burgos-Burpellet-BH and Equipo Kern Pharma. With no Caja Rural there, that might explain the Tour invite. The Giro dItalia is still yet to announce its wildcard entries, and this year there are set to be three as Cofidis have decided to pass on their automatic call-up. Italian teams Polti-VisitMalta and Bardiani-CSF-7 Saber will certainly be at the start in Bulgaria, but there is a chance Unibet-Rose Rockets get the final place as the top ProTeam without a Grand Tour invite.Remco Evenepoel goes 3/3 in MallorcaMaximilian Fries / Red Bull Content PoolRemco Evenepoel has had the best start possible to life with Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, winning his first three races with the squad at the Mallorca Challenge races.
