Miche says its new Deva RD wheels are its lightest and most aero yet
CyclistMiche says its new Deva RD wheels are its lightest and most aero yetMiche has launched what it says is its most aero and lightest wheelset yet. The Deva RD wheels are available in 52mm and 62mm depths, with differential rim profiles and 23mm internal width. The use of carbon spokes has allowed Miche to deliver a claimed 1,305g wheelset weight for the 52mm depth and 1,375g for the 62mm wheelset. Its also included CeramicSpeed bearings in the newly developed hubs. The Miche Deva RD wheelset is priced at 3,200 and will be available to purchase from March 2026. They were then wind tunnel tested over three sessions and a total of 24 hours at the GST-Windkanal in Immenstaad, Germany, including testing with the Wilier Filante SLR ID2 road bike, which will be used along with the wheels by the Groupama-FDJ United WorldTour team.Miche claims an 8.6% improvement in aero efficiency at 50km/h compared to its previous generation Kleos RD 50, thanks to an improved tyre-to-rim interface that results in better airflow attachment to the rim.Miche also tested against four WorldTour-level competitors of around a 50mm depth, which showed that the Deva RD 52 was among the best-performing wheels, particularly at higher yaw angles. The new wheelset comes in two depths: 52mm and 62mm, with differential front and rear profiles, both with a 23mm internal width and hooked bead to the rims, which are made of a mix of T700, T800 and T1000 carbon fibre.According to Miche, the slightly wider front rim lowers wind resistance, while the narrower rear rim helps keep weight lower but still provides aerodynamic gains.CeramicSpeed bearingsThe Deva RD is Miches first wheelset to include carbon spokes, which are becoming an essential component of pro-level wheelsets. Miche claims each spoke is 0.5g lighter than steel, contributing to the reduced wheelset weight. The spokes have a 4:1 cross-section with hidden nipples, with a 14/7 spoking pattern in both front and rear wheels. The Deva RD has its own alloy hubs, also designed for aero efficiency and to ensure lateral wheel stiffness. Theyre fitted with double sealed CeramicSpeed bearings, with titanium pawl carriers in the rear hub to lower weight and adjustable bearing preload.Theres an extra-lightweight freehub for Shimano drivetrains to lower weight further.Deva, apparently, is Sanskrit for shining one, by the way.The post Miche says its new Deva RD wheels are its lightest and most aero yet appeared first on Cyclist.
