After a short briefing we'll roll out at 2.00 pm for stage one - 55 km.DAY 2Stage two: Ludlow to Newton - 95km, Xm elevation.DAY 3Stage three: Newton to Stretton - 65km, Xm elevation. We finish back in Church Stretton and celebrate the weekend. What to expectiT IS not a raceWhat to Expect This is not a race. Its a supportive women-only gravel weekend where everyone is welcome and nobody gets left behind. If youve done long gravel rides, sportives, or endurance days before, this weekend sits perfectly between those and something much bigger like our international trips. What it's all aboutThe focus is on confidence, community and great riding not speed. Its not about testing yourself to the limit. Its about discovering what youre capable of when the right support and atmosphere are there.HASSLE FREEA hassle-free trip where all you need to focus on is the ridewe take care of everything else. On the bike, youll be supported by an experienced guide and a support vehicle, with regular feed stops to keep you fuelled and hydrated throughout the day. Off the bike, we handle your luggage transfers so its waiting for you at your next hotel.KNOW BEFORE YOU GOAccommodationWell stay in local hotels in Ludlow and Newtown. You can choose between a private single room (limited availablity), shared twin (2 beds). Solo travellers can also opt to share, and we will put you together with another like minded female gravel rider! THE AREA WE'LL BE RIDINGThis route runs along the English/Welsh border through some of the most underrated gravel riding in the UK. You can expect, quiet Shropshire countryside, remote borderland tracks, rolling green hills, beautiful valleys, small villages and proper caf stops, a mix of English and Welsh landscapes all in one weekend. Its the kind of riding that feels adventurous without ever feeling intimidating.TYRE CHOICEThe right setup will make the weekend much more enjoyable. We strongly recommend: 40-45mm gravel tyres, something with good grip rather than something ultra-fast to cope with mixed terrain, Tubeless set up.The surfaces are generally rideable, but there are sections where a little extra tyre width makes everything feel much more comfortable and confidence inspiring. GEARING CHOICEExpect steady climbs rather than sharp punchy ones. A lower gear will make the whole weekend more enjoyable, especially on day two. We Recommend a 1x setup with a large cassette (10-42 / 10-44 / 10-50) or a compact / sub-compact 2x gearing with a wide-range cassette. If youre unsure, were always happy to help you choose the right setup before the event. 7 UNMISSABLE HIGHLIGHTS IN MOROCCONUMBER OneTizi nTest - an Alpine climb in the Atlas MountainsAt the end of stage two - the Queen Stage, is the 27km climb of Tizi nTest, arguably the best climb in Morocco.Starting in the valley, this epic climb was built while the French were here in the 1920s and has the feel of an alpine climb with hairpins twisting up the mountain to the summit at over 2,000m. There are no steep sections (avg gradient is just 3%) but expect to spend 1.5 to 2.5hrs getting up to the summit, allowing plenty of time to enjoy the stunning views.NUMBER TWOThe Ancient City of TaroudantStage three finishes in Taroudant after two days in the remote Atlas Mountains. We stay in a delightful hotel in town and after some time to freshen up, we head into the old town and explore the market with a local guide before a delicious dinner.number threeRemote riding in rural MoroccoStraight from arrival, the ride takes us into remote gravel roads to discover real, rural Moroccan life. The riding is a mix of mostly gentle climbing and flat sections with lots of opportunity to sit in & ride with mates new and old.Number FourDelightful local foodThis is a great country for food with excellent couscous, bbq and lots & lots of tagines!Breakfasts are at the hotel with lots of tasty bread & eggs. Lunch is on the road mostly with picnics by the trails and dinner is generally at our accommodation.Number fiveSun, sand & surf in TaghazoutThe ride finishes on the beautiful sandy beaches of Taghazout, famous around the world for its surf breaks. After the final ride, we head straight into the ocean for a swim before watching the sunset. On the final morning, before getting transfers back to Agadir, we have a surf lesson in the smaller waves.Number sixQuiet villages & Berber cultureAlong the route we pass many small, traditional Berber villages that rarely see tourists.Particularly on stage three, we ride through villages that were devastated by the earthquake in 2023 and through the ride we see how people live in the mountains, on the plains and by the coast.Number sevenTea!A huge part of the riding ritual in Morocco is to drink tea before, during and after each stage. The tea here is minty and incredibly sweet, you don't even want to know how much sugar goes into each small cup. But, nothing quite hits like a local cuppa and this is an essential part of breakfast & warming up when the sun sets and we are high in the mountains.STAGE DETAILSSTAGE 1: CHURCH STRETTON TO LUDLOWRoute Summary:Arrive in Church Stretton late morning / lunchtime. The village has a train station and there is parking available nearby, so getting there is easy.Wellmeet, get everyone ready, do a shortbriefingand roll out at 2pm for a relaxed first afternoon ride. Moroccan CuisineMoroccan food is a delightful blend of cultural influences, rich flavors and aromatic spices. Atlas MountainsWake up at the top of Tizi n'Test (2093m), to amazing views of the sun rising on the Sahara dunes. 5 nights of huge varietyStarting just outside bustling Marrekesh, this ride takes you up to the high mountains in Imlil, through remote villages of the Anti Atlas, into the ancient city of Taroudant with it's medieval walls & souk before finishing at the cool surf beach at Taghazout.KNOW BEFORE YOU GOAccommodationWell stay in a mixture of hotels and local riads. You can choose between a private single room (limited availablity), shared twin (2 beds) or shared double (1 bed) room. All of our accommodation is hand picked and we have selected some really special places. It will be a complete Moroccan experience, including sleeping in the desert, at the top of a remote mountain, as well as staying in hotels and riads. Please note that our hotel on night three at the top of Tizi nTest is basic with firm beds, few amenities and shared bathrooms. The hospitality and views more than make up for this.Bike & Tyre ChoiceThe route is suitable for gravel bikes equipped with 45-50mm tyres minimum, for a more comfortable ride on the tough terrain. We highly recommend you run tubeless to allow you to run lower tyre pressures and help reduce punctures on the rougher surfaces.FoodMoroccan cuisine is one of the highlights of the trip containing a mix of Arabic, Mediterranean, Berber and Andalousian cuisines. Tagine and couscous dishes will be on the menu, with meat and vegetable options available, as well as other local specialities. weatherWe choose time of year for our trips to coincide with the best riding weather. Temperatures should be in the mid to high 20s during the day with cooler evenings and at the top of Tizi n'Test. Make sure you pack a windproof jacket for early morning and descending. TerrainExpect a bit of everything on this gravel cycling trip to Morocco. There is some smooth tarmac but a lot of the paved back roads are quite heavy with potholes, ruts etc. The off road riding is a fusion of smooth, rolling gravel trails mixed in with some rockier terrain and a few short, sandy sections. Some of the descents are on narrow trails with steep drop offs so this is definitely aimed at experienced riders (who aren't afraid of heights!)The RouteMost of the days are tough with plenty of climbing. Stages one, two and four have a number of both road & off road climbs and even stage three, which is easier on paper, is challenging due to the terrain. This is a four stage ride aimed at more experienced riders who are comfortable on long climbs and long, technical descents.7 UNMISSABLE HIGHLIGHTS IN MOROCCONUMBER OneTizi nTest - an Alpine climb in the Atlas MountainsAt the end of stage two - the Queen Stage, is the 27km climb of Tizi nTest, arguably the best climb in Morocco.Starting in the valley, this epic climb was built while the French were here in the 1920s and has the feel of an alpine climb with hairpins twisting up the mountain to the summit at over 2,000m. But, nothing quite hits like a local cuppa and this is an essential part of breakfast & warming up when the sun sets and we are high in the mountains.STAGE DETAILSSTAGE ONE: LAC LALLA TAKERKOUST TO IMLILRoute Summary:A short but challenging first stage. Starting on the shores of Lalla Takarkoust, the first 13km is off road giving you some time to get used to the terrain & temperature.Over the next 17km (off road), we climb 700m but all gradually until Asni and then join the road for the last 18km up to Imlil. The roads here can be quite heavy and much more suited to gravel bikes than road bikes so a lot of the paved sections can still be slower going.Ride Distance: 50km Ride Elevation: 1565m % Off Road: 52% Difficulty: 5/5STAGE TWO: IMLIL TO TIZI N'TESTRoute Summary:The Queen Stage!Starting in Imlil, we roll down the valley before tackling the first of two main climbs for the day. First up is the 10km gravel climb (avg 6%) to Tizi nTest with glorious views. We then descend for over 20km (off road) to the river & after lunch. After 15km of flat by the river, we finish with the road / broken road climb of Tizi nTest 27km at 3% and one of the classic climbs in the country.Ride Distance: 115km Ride Elevation: 2479m % Off Road: 55% Difficulty: 5/5STAGE THREE: TIZI N'TEST TO TAROUDANTRoute Summary:We wake up at 2,000m for a glorious sunrise over the mountains and then start the descent off the mountain. The first 7km is on the road and then we turn onto gravel for 20km more descending before working our way south and west along a mix of gravel trail & broken road to the ancient town of Taroudant.Ride Distance: 107km Ride Elevation: 496m % Off Road: 55% Difficulty: 4/5STAGE FOUR: TAROUDANT TO TAGHAZOUTRoute Summary:Our final day starts with a 50 min transfer in the van and then we start in Amskroud. This is a challenging day with a higher concentration of climbing than the other days with almost all of the day in the mountains by the coast. From the start we have a 5km climb at 5% followed by a 4.5km climb at 7% (both off road). After three shorter climbs & descents (on gravel & broken roads), we have one last road climb (6km at 7%) before descending into Taghazout and heading straight into the ocean before sunset!Ride Distance: 70km Ride Elevation: 2119m % Off Road: 55% Difficulty: 5/5ACCOMMODATIONLorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Vast mountain plateaus, empty roads and long stretches where you see more wildlife than people. Every day feels exploratory. Quiet tracks, changing scenery and that rare feeling of being properly off the beaten path.Discover Authentic Montenegrin CultureRide through small mountain villages where time moves slowly, and experience the warmth of local hospitality and traditional foods like lamb, kjmak and burek, making every stop both welcoming and delicious. Wild untouched landscapesFrom glacial lakes and alpine plateaus to dense forests and remote valleys, Montenegro offers raw, dramatic scenery with almost no traffic. Tiny villages, shepherd trails and mountain roads built for necessity, not tourism. This is riding through places that feel unchanged for generations.KNOW BEFORE YOU GOAccommodationWell stay in a mixture of local hotels. You can choose between a private single room (limited availablity), shared twin (2 beds) or shared double (1 bed) room. All of our accommodation is hand picked and we have selected some really special places. Bike & Tyre ChoiceThe route is suitable for gravel bikes equipped with 40-45mm tyres suggested. We highly recommend you run tubeless to allow you to run lower tyre pressures to help reduce punctures and make the ride more comfortable. Expect a mix of smooth hardpack, rougher mountain gravel and occasional tarmac linking the best sections together.FoodMontenegros food scene is a delicious blend of Mediterranean freshness and hearty mountain flavours, with dishes featuring fresh seafood, lamb, olive oil and fragrant herbs. Whether its breakfast or a mid-ride snack, burek is never far away -flaky, warm and filled with meat, cheese or potatoes, its a staple found on almost every corner.weatherWe choose time of year for our trips to coincide with the best riding weather. Early October is one of the best times to ride in Montenegro. Days are typically mild and clear, with cooler mornings and comfortable riding temperatures. In the mountains the air is crisp, the colours are changing, and the roads are quiet as summer fades into autumn.TerrainThis is classic mountain gravel. Long steady climbs, flowing descents and rolling plateaus, with routes designed to maximise time off busy roads. The riding is challenging but rewarding, with gradients that invite a steady rhythm rather than sharp spikes. The RouteOur journey begins in the mountain town of Kolasin, spending two nights exploring the surrounding highlands. From there we ride through remote terrain to Mojkovac, before heading deeper into the mountains towards Zabljak. Each day links wild landscapes with quiet roads and gravel tracks, creating an unforgettable point-to-point journey that feels purposeful, adventurous and deeply immersive. This is Montenegro as gravel riders dream of it.7 UNMISSABLE HIGHLIGHTS IN MOROCCONUMBER OneTizi nTest - an Alpine climb in the Atlas MountainsAt the end of stage two - the Queen Stage, is the 27km climb of Tizi nTest, arguably the best climb in Morocco.Starting in the valley, this epic climb was built while the French were here in the 1920s and has the feel of an alpine climb with hairpins twisting up the mountain to the summit at over 2,000m. But, nothing quite hits like a local cuppa and this is an essential part of breakfast & warming up when the sun sets and we are high in the mountains.STAGE DETAILSSTAGE ONE: GRANADA TO GUADIXRoute Summary:Embark on an unforgettable gravel bike adventure from Granada to Guadix, weaving through the picturesque landscapes of southern Spain. You will enjoy massive views of South Wales along with some super fun sections on smooth fire roads. As we get close to the end we have a long gravel descent out of the valley and then we finish with a spicy 2.5km climb to the line.Percentage of Route Off Road: 80%Distance: 77km7Elevation: 1,150mDifficulty:Technical Difficulty:Medium ROUTEThe medium route follows the long route skipping 20km of the middle section so you still have the long, tough climb into our main valley & a long descent near the end before the punchy climb to the finish. You can decide on the day which route you want to do, the rides split at 30km.Percentage of Route Off Road: 75%Distance: 56kmElevation: 1350mDifficulty:Technical Difficulty:Medium ROUTEThe medium route follows the long route but chops off the final lumpy 30km. This makes the medium a great option for new gravel riders or those looking for a quick route to do in the morning. You can choose between a private single room (limited availablity), shared twin (2 beds) or shared double (1 bed) room. Bike & Tyre ChoiceWe recommend running tubeless tyres of 38-45mm with a gravel tread pattern for the faster rolling terrain in the area. Should rain be forecast for the trip, you may wish to consider a grippier tread. There will be some climbs on our routes, which are longer than UK gravel climbs, so a great ratio of at least 1:1 is advised.FoodCatalan tapas (or pinxos) celebrate the regions rich flavours - smoky cured meats, fresh seafood, artisan cheeses, and vibrant vegetables. Each bite tells a story of tradition and Mediterranean flair, inviting people to connect, share, and savour the experience together All best enjoyed with a glass of local Empord after a day on the bike.weatherApril is a great month to visit Girona, with comfortable midday temperatures ranging from 16 to 20C and very little rainfall. The weather is warm enough to ride in short sleeves, and the perfect opportunity to earn your first tan lines of the year.TerrainGravel cycling in Girona comprises smooth, champagne gravel on a big network of greenways, as well as dirt tracks and some chunkier gravel. In the middle (and the first 40km for the long route), the Downs Link is flat and flowing.Ride difficultyYou can break this ride into three parts. As ever, miles in the legs will make the ride more difficult as you will hit the steepest climbs near the end. The first 60km on the Epic has 1,000m of elevation in the Surrey Hills before 40km of easier riding but the bulk of the elevation comes in the last 60km.Epic Route *****Long Route ****Rider difficulty explained***** Reserved just for our hardest routes. Expect long distance & lots of challenging climbs both on and off road.**** Typically longer rides with regular climbs which could be both steep & long. Suitable for regular riders with some training.*** A mix of terrain & elevation. A decent day out with some tricky sections but still suitable for regular riders.** Some harder sections but suitable for all regular cyclists* Easy, suitable for all riders. Mostly flat route.Technical difficulty75% of the route is on gravel. The off road is a mix of some well kept gravel trails in the hills and some bumpier farmtracks which can be rooty and rutted if dry and muddy when wet followed by chalk & grassy trails in the South Downs.Long Route ****Medium Route ***Technical difficulty explained***** A challenging route suitable only for experienced riders. Expect short hike-a-bike sections, a mix of terrain & loose climbs and descents.**** Suitable for regular off roaders, the route may contain rockier sections, technical descents etc.*** A mix of off road conditions with some more difficult sections.** More typical UK gravel which may be muddy when wet but no challenging sections* Smooth terrain suitable for all riders.TYRE & BIKE RECOMMENDATIONSThis route is designed for gravel bikes but you will be fine on a hardtail MTB.
